Samek #2SAMEK: Stephanie age 88 of Dresden passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Friday December 26, 2014 at C.K.H.A. Public General Campus, Chatham. She was born in Czechoslovakia daughter of the late Stanley & Anna (Smalinsky) Piacek. Stephanie and her husband John were founding members of the Canadian Czechoslovakian Friendship Club of Dresden. John predeceased in 2007. She is dearly missed by her two daughters Mary Ann Earl & husband Edward of Dresden, Donna Pellerin & husband Allen of Dresden; four grandchildren: Rebecca Earl & husband Mike Tiffin, Chad, Shawn and Kyle Pellerin, two great grandchildren: Henry & Clark; a brother John Piacek and wife Shirley of Dresden. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a brother Stanley Piacek Jr. and his wife Rose. Stephanie took great pride in her baking, especially Rozky and cream rolls. Her family came first and she was happiest when her grandchildren were with her. Visitors will be received at the Thomas L. DeBurger Funeral Home, 620 Cross Street, Dresden on Monday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Parish prayers will be offered at the funeral home Monday at 6:45 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Catholic Church Dresden on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Ray Lawhead as celebrant. Interment in Dresden Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions may be made by cheque to St. Michael’s Church-Building Fund, Canadian Cancer Society or O.S.P.C.A. and may be left at the funeral home.
