It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Basil Joseph Ryan into the loving arms of Jesus, Monday, December 31, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Hospice.  He leaves behind his wife Doris of 57 years, children; Dan (Marie) Ryan, Laurie Ann (Frank) Michetti, Maureen (Gary) Cartier, Michelle (Patrick) Thornhill and Kevin (Louise) Ryan, grandchildren; Andrea, Joey, Amanda (Kyle), Ryan (Cassandra), Michael, Stephen, Jennifer, Shaun, Jessica and great-grandchildren; James and William.  Lovingly remembered by several nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by his parents Albert and Isabel Ryan.   Joe grew up in the Beaches area of Toronto, attended U of T and obtained his Chemical Engineering Degree.  He retired from Imperial Oil after 33 years of service.  He was an avid reader loved to woodwork and lived life to the fullest.  Joe was a true family man, humble, kind and compassionate, with a strong faith.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, January 4, 2013 at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.  A memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1465 Lecaron, Sarnia at 11:00 a.m.  Cremation has taken place.   Sympathy may be expressed through donations to The Canadian Cancer Society or St. Joseph’s Hospice (cheques only at the funeral home please).  Memories and condolences may be sent online at http://www.smithfuneralhome.ca/
