Gladys RussellRUSSELL, Mrs. Gladys J. (nee Johnson), of Terrace Lodge, Aylmer, formerly of St. Thomas, passed away peacefully at her residence on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, in her 98th year. Loved wife of the late Melvin V. “Mel” Russell (1988). Gladys will be greatly missed by her children, Judy (Keith) MacDonald of St. Thomas, Linda (Allan) Wills of Newbury, and Barrie (late Linda) Russell of Sarnia, brother-in-law, Gerald Russell of St. Thomas, and sister-in-law, June Russell of Georgetown. Mom was the matriarch in our family of five generations, and she was loved by all. She was the last surviving member of her own immediate family, having been predeceased by five brothers, George, St. Clair, Cyril, Charles, and William Johnson. Born in St. Thomas, ON, September 14, 1917, she was the youngest child and only daughter of the late George and Estella (nee Gloin) Johnson. Gladys was a member of Lord Elgin Branch #41, Royal Canadian Legion, St. Thomas. The funeral service will be held at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Saturday, January 17th at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow in Elmdale Memorial Park. Relatives and friends will be received by the family one hour prior to the service time. In lieu of flowers, Gladys’ wish was for memorial donations to the CNIB or a special act of kindness to someone in need. To the staff of Terrace Lodge: you are wonderful.
