RuncimanEvelyn paperBorn January 30, 1925, in Battersea, ON died peacefully on January 26, 2015 at Streamway Villa Nursing Home, Cobourg, Ontario.   She is sadly missed by her husband of 62 years, Donald Andrew.  Proud and loving mother of 4 sons; Scott, Bruce, Ross and John and their partners, Pat, Cathy, Karen and Donna.  She will be sadly missed by 9 grandchildren; Neil, Laura, Jennifer, Matthew, William, John, Kevin, Anne and Kate.  Ev is fondly remembered by her sister Virginia Freeman of Newburg, ON and brothers Mac and John of Elginburg, ON and Battersea, ON respectively.  She was predeceased by her parents Dr. and Mrs. N.V. Freeman of Battersea, ON and by her brothers Julian, Norman and Hugh.  

After graduating from Queen’s Nursing in 1949, Ev worked for a time at Kingston General Hospital, before meeting and marrying Don and dedicating her life to raising their sons.  Ev was committed to the Cobourg community, and over the 58 years that she lived there she brought her calm, caring and empathetic friendship to groups such as Trinity United Church and the UCW, the Horticultural Society and the  Northumberland Stitchery Guild. For many years, until the group disbanded, she was involved with Eastern Ontario Doll Club.   Ev will be remembered as a caring and giving person.  In Evelyn’s memory donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. A service to celebrate Ev’s life will be held at 2pm on Friday, January 30th at  MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St. East, Cobourg. Reception and interment to follow.  Condolences received at
