ROOKE: Robert “Bob” A. of Valleyview Home, St. Thomas

Rooke, Robert “Bob” A. of Valleyview Home, St. Thomas, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, May 22nd, 2012, at his late residence, in his 86th year. Beloved husband of 64 years of the late Georgena Elizabeth “Jean” (Berdan) Rooke and dearly loved father of Pat (Bob) Aviss of St. Thomas, Ron Rooke of London, Mike (Carol) Rooke of Union, Jim Rooke of St. Thomas and Debbie (Doug) Heath of London. Loved grandfather of Jeff (Camilla) Aviss, Tim Aviss, Chris (Sasha) Aviss, Neil (Jenn) Rooke, Tyler Rooke and Joshua and Alisha Waitson and great grandfather of Quinn, Paige, Aiden and Carter Aviss, Carey Luther and Logan Rooke. Predeceased by a granddaughter Kylie Mae Rooke. Dear brother of William Rooke Jr. of Tillsonburg and the late Carol Pick. And step-grandfather to Ryan, Danielle and Michael Heath. Dear brother-in-law of Donald (Joyce) Berdan of St. Thomas and Alan Pick of Niagara Falls and step brother-in-law of Jim (Andrea) Grimes of Windsor. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Bob was born in Dereham Centre on September 2nd, 1926, the son of the late William and Margaret (Lazenby) Rooke. He was the retired President/Owner of Rooke Machine. He operated the company with his wife Jean. Bob worked in a P.O.W. Camp during W.W.II. He was a member of the Traveling Kavaleers, Del-Ray Road Runners, the Bounder Club and the Golden Acres.

The family will celebrate Bob’s life by receiving friends at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas on Friday from 2-4 p.m. A private family service will follow. Cremation has taken place. Flowers gratefully declined. Remembrances may be made to the charity of choice.
