Passed away at Twin Lakes Nursing Home, Sarnia  on Thursday, August 16th  at the age of 98.  Having lived in Cornwall, Ontario, most of her life, Jessie  moved to Sarnia in December, 2008 to be closer to her son’s family.  For almost three years she was a resident at Twin Lakes Terrace Retirement Community where she received wonderful care and encouragement from the staff and other residents.   Born on March 25, 1914, in  Clydebank, Scotland,  Jessie immigrated to a farm near Summerstown Station, Ontario, with her parents in 1926, moving shortly afterwards to Montreal, then Cornwall.  She married  Robert Rodger on June 30, 1941, just before he went overseas with the 17th Duke of York’s Royal Canadian Hussars.  A member of St. John’s Presbyterian Church, Cornwall from the age of 16, Jessie was also a life member of The Order of the Eastern Star, and an employee of Whittaker Bros. Flower and Gift Shop for 29 years.   Predeceased by an infant brother Tom (1921), her parents Jessie Baird Moncur (1943) and Thomas Moncur (1958), son Richard (1979) and husband Bob (1995).  She is survived by son Tom (Gayle) Rodger (Sarnia); granddaughter Joanne de Groot (Edmonton) and great-grandchildren Alex and Samantha; grandson Michael (Erin) Rodger (Corunna) and great-grandchildren McKenna and Grayson; and granddaughter Jennifer Trudell (Edmonton).  She was also blessed to have enjoyed the extraordinary love and friendship of Jan and Joe Craig (Cornwall), Carl and Dawn Sandelin (Cornwall), and Linda and Phil Palter (Toronto).   The family wishes to thank the staff of Twin Lakes Nursing Home for their kindness and care.
