Passed away peacefully at Bluewater Health on Thursday, August 28, 2014 after a long journey with Alzheimer’s. James was born in St. Catherines, Ontario on October 1, 1926. He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Sadie (nee Deline), and brothers Len and William Roddy. Jim was a devoted husband to Mary (nee Cunningham) for 63 years. He was also the loving father of Linda (Lou) DiMuzio of Sarnia, Diane Roddy (Roger Smith) of Prince Albert, Bruce (Sue) Roddy of Sarnia and Carol Groulx (Rory Simpson) of Sarnia. Grandfather to Dan (Terra), Tara (Shawn), Erica, Brenden, Erin, Lauren (Billy), Matthew (Jennifer), Allison, Spencer, Grant and Anne. Great-grandfather of Indie and Savannah. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other family members. Jim graduated from University of Toronto in 1950 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked at Prestolite in Pt. Edward until it closed. He was a long-time member of Paterson Memorial Church of Sarnia. A true sailor, Jim and his wife Mary, were active members of the Sarnia Yacht Club. Special thanks to Reverend Allan Farris for his prayers and words of comfort. Thanks to Dr. Pasqualucci, Dr. Crombeen, and the nurses of Bluewater Health for their care during his last hours and their tenderness is assisting family at the end of a long journey. In lieu of a visitation and flowers, the family requests donations be made to Paterson Memorial Church (cheques only at the funeral home please). Jim was not a man who liked a fuss.
