ROBERTSON: Robert Bruce of St. Thomas

Robert Robertson (165x250)Robertson- Robert Bruce of St. Thomas, with a song in his heart Dad passed away peacefully at Parkwood Veterans Hospital, London to be reunited with his dearly beloved wife Mary (2010) on Wednesday February 12, 2014. He was the son of Robert and Elizabeth Robertson, born April 18, 1919 in Fettercairin Aberdeenshire, Scotland. He emigrated to Canada at age nine. He was the last surviving member of his family predeceased by brothers Wallace and William and sisters Irene and Jean. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 65 years Mary (Carron) in 2010 and his cherished daughter Kathy in 1981. Dad was a true gentleman and will be sadly missed by his children Roberta Robertson, Beth Spicer (Bob), Tim Robertson, Jane Orosz (Mike) all of St. Thomas and Bob Robertson (Lucy) of Calgary Alberta, Peter Robertson (Debbie) Morinville, Alberta and Sally Walker (Brian) of London. Dearly loved granddad of 17 grandchildren and cherished great granddad of 7 great grandchildren. He is also survived by sister-in-law Annette Delanghe of Regina, brother-in-law Ted Carron of Thamesville and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a member of Holy Angels Parish in St. Thomas and former member of Our Lady of Sorrows, Aylmer. He was a member of Legion Branch #41 and former member of Knights of Columbus in Aylmer. He managed and operated the Texaco Bulk Station, north of Aylmer. Dad served in the RCR during WW II 1939- 1945 in UK as a motorcycle dispatch operator and in Italy as a platoon sergeant where he was wounded in action. Cremation has taken place.

Memorial Mass will be held at Holy Angels Church, St. Thomas on  Friday  at  10:00a.m.   Private interment of ashes in Holy Angels Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Holy Angels Restoration Fund. Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas entrusted with the arrangements. The family wish to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of 3 Kent at the Parkwood Hospital for their devotion and care of Dad.
