The family of Leah Ricketts (Nee Gow) is sad to announce her passing on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Hospice Simcoe, Barrie. While she has lost her battle with cancer, Leah triumphed over many difficult obstacles throughout her life, becoming a woman of deep faith who loved God, family, friends, and who extended that love towards all who came to know her, whether that time be long or short. A talented cook and baker, Leah lavished many of those around her with an overabundance of food and love, feeding both the stomach and the heart with her care. An indomitable spirit, she was a woman with a strong will who steered her family through both good times and bad, relying on her faith to guide her.
Leah is survived by her husband Timothy, son Dean (Nicole), daughter Candace (John) and son Keygan, unwavering friend Sharon, along with three beautiful grandchildren, Ryan, Andrew, and Charlotte that were the light of her life and the final pieces of her heart.
Above all, Leah would wish for the hospitality and generosity she epitomized in life to continue, and as such the family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Hospice Simcoe or Pancreatic Cancer Canada. A service celebrating Leah’s life is open to all who knew and loved her and will be held on Saturday, March 23rd at Barrie Free Methodist Church, 284 Cundles Rd East, Barrie at 2pm visitation with the family from 12:30 until time service and a reception to follow.
