REYNOLDS: Tracey Lea of Kelowna Formerly of Winnipeg

Tracey Lea Reynolds, age 49, June 18, 1968 – February 23, 2018

Tracey Lea Reynolds passed away peacefully at Vancouver General Hospital surrounded by her family on the night of February 23, 2018. Tracey was a permanent resident of Kelowna, BC, and was born in Winnipeg, MB.

With great sadness in their loss, Tracey is survived by her daughter, Sara Rose, longtime partner Ron Campbell, parents Carole and Barry Reynolds, sisters Lisa Reynolds and April Cherpaw, brother Cyril Everaert, niece and nephew Alyssa and Tyler Goodbrand, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her Granny (Mae) Kusmack, sister Donna Cherpaw and father Cyril Everaert.

Tracey was diagnosed with scleroderma several years ago, which affected her quality of life. When she learned that she was an eligible recipient of a donor set of lungs, she bravely undertook one of the most difficult journeys of her life. Tracey fought hard for a second chance at life and knew the possible risks. Her recovery was nothing short of miraculous before a sudden and shocking stroke tragically affected her chances for a full recovery. She battled valiantly for nearly a week before drifting away from us.

Tracey was as independent as she was stubborn and loved people in her own special way. She was a strong woman who always did her best for herself and others, despite her circumstances. She tried to lift people up and provide positivity even when she was feeling down. She cared deeply about those she chose to surround herself with and will be remembered mostly for her thoughtfulness. She was happiest in an environment that was peaceful and reflective of nature. She loved camping, her cats, photography, food and music. Her greatest love was always her daughter Sara, who will miss her ‘Pooky’ with all her heart. Tracey will be missed more than she ever could have realized and loved more than she knew.

Tracey’s family would like to thank Dr. Yee, Katrina S. and the entire staff of the Lung Transplant team at Vancouver General Hospital. Additional thanks to Dr. Chen and the staff of the NICU , Dr. Yeung and staff of the palliative unit at VGH. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Tracey’s name to the following organizations: Scleroderma Association of BC, BC Lung Association or the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Tracey’s life will take place in Kelowna on Saturday, March 17,2018 at Trinity Baptist Church, 1905 Springfield Rd, at 2:00pm.
