Cherie’s journey ended June 3rd, 2012, at home surrounded by family and friends.  Cherie’s journey began May 12th, 1949 to the late Norm and Gladys Winship of Chatham.  She has one sister Lori (Ophee).  She attended grade school and John McGregor making many lasting friendships.  She met her lifelong love Bob and they married in August 1968.  They have two children Jacqueline (John) Mavin, and Jeff (Shari) Reissner and seven grandchildren Katherine, Richard, Halle, Quinn, Gabriel, Elijah and Isaiah.  Cherie went back to school at St. Clair College for two years and then went to work at Service Canada for 22 years retiring in 2009.  Cherie made many friends at the Judy.  Over this time she took many art classes at Thames Campus and the Culture Centre.  Cherie traveled coast to coast and sailed both the Atlantic and the Pacific in her journey.  Cherie’s health took a sharp turn in the spring of 2011 when the dreaded cancer was found.  Cherie faced surgery and Chemo with strength and dignity.  Cherie’s journey has allowed many to be part of the journey.  If you were any part of this journey please come to the Alexander & Houle Funeral Home, 245 Wellington West, Chatham, 519-352-2710, on Tuesday June 5th visiting from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and share your stories with the family.  The funeral service will be conducted from Christ Church, 80 Wellington Street West, Chatham on Wednesday June 6th at 11:00 a.m. with the Ven.
