Subject, Bruce JrBruce Subject Jr. – of Monkton passed away unexpectedly on Monday September 1, 2014 at the age of 24. He will be remembered for his smile that would light up the room. Bruce enjoyed watching tractor pulls and loved music.

Beloved son of Sandra (Johnston) Subject and the late Bruce Subject who predeceased him on June 2, 2014. Loving brother of Fred and Lisa Subject, Tammy Subject and James Taylor, Jackee and Peter Dunnink. Special uncle of Dairian, Keirsten, Christian, Benjamen, Cadence, Lauren, Felicity, Leland, Weston and Hudson. Cherished grandson of Irene Johnston. Fondly remembered by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Predeceased by his sister Charlotte in infancy, grandparents Gordon Johnston and Christian and Emma Subject.

A memorial service to celebrate Bruce’s life will be held at Brenneman Funeral Home, 141 John Street, Atwood (519-356-2382), on Thursday September 4, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jan MacInnes officiating. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Milverton.

Stewart, TomSTEWART, Thomas Russel “Tom” – Passed away suddenly on Thursday, June 19, 2014 in his 81st year, after attending a retirement party near Milton, ON.  During his years as a long distance truck driver, Tom acquired many, many friends and acquaintances all over North America.  He was the last surviving member of his family.  Tom was an avid collector of everything old, odd and unique.  Cars, trucks,  tractors, toys and various other items of interest to many.  As a known authority on vintage autos, and a member of almost every vintage collectable club, he was often asked to provide information to hobbyists with similar interests.  For more than 50 years, Tom’s red, 1909 Ford Model “T” was a familiar sight in Woodstock’s Victoria Day parade. Friends will be received at Old St. Paul’s Anglican Church, 723 Dundas Street, Woodstock on Friday, June 27, 2014 from 12 noon until 12:45 p.m.  A complete funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with Archdeacon Richard A. Beloved husband of Edna. Loving father of Glen of Red Deer, AB, Heather (Ron Sowerby) of Goderich, Laureen (Glenn Ralph) of Port Moody, BC, and Kevin (Nancy Cabral) of Orangeville. Mel will be fondly remembered by his sister Lee (Blake) Williams of Aurora and brother-in-law Murray Clark of Owen Sound. He is predeceased by his sister Veda Clark and his parents, Cecil and Lola (Hemstock) Dailey.

A Celebration of Mel’s life will be held at Cedar Rail Camp (#015259 Grey Bruce Line, R.R. #3 Chesley) on Sunday, July 20, 2014 from 2 – 5 p.m. Inurnment in Chesley Cemetery.

Peacefully, at dawn with an entire new day ahead of him, Ray Kilbourne Mullins passed away Thursday, June 5th, 2014 at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital. He was surrounded by his much loved daughters, Donna McLellan, Dutton, Ontario and Dorothy Mullins, Red Deer Alberta. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Jean (Gates) Mullins, Dec. 2011 and by this dear son-in-law, Jim McLellan, Nov.2013. Proud grandfather of Jason and Mary McLellan, Melbourne, Andrew McLellan and Loni Grover, Wardsville, and David and Heather McLellan of Ingersoll. Delighted Great Grandpa Ray to Cameron McLellan and Rayah McLellan. Fondly remembered by Dorothy’s fiancé, Gary Douglas, Red Deer, Alberta.
Loved and especially missed by his brother, Mack and Marjorie Mullins, Melbourne; sister-in-law, Marjorie Schieman, Glencoe (Cornelius 2012); and brother-in-law, George and Gayle Gates of Glencoe. Kind uncle to several nieces and nephews. Ray was the son of the late Jack and Marie (Kilbourne) Mullins.

Special popa of Dairian, Keirsten, Christian, Benjamen, Cadence, Lauren, Felicity, Leland, Weston and Hudson. Son-in-law of Gordon and Irene Johnston of Listowel. Dear brother of John and Iola Subject, Betty Szucs, Doris and Danny Ensinger, Elaine and John Zinken, Ella Pfieffer, Albert and Sheila Subject, Donna Subject and brother-in-law of Joanne Subject, Jennifer Subject and Helen Subject. Born in Belleville, Ontario on May 12th, 1921. Died May 6th, 2014 at The Northumberlad Hills Hospital, Cobourg, Ontario. Beloved husband and best friend of Claire (nee Wheeler) for 48 years. Cherished father of Sandy and his wife Kim of Palgrave, Ontario and David and his family of Calgary, Alberta. Loving grandfather of Justin Mowat of Palgrave and Courtney and, Mellissa Mowat of Calgary. Brother of Rosemary Mowat of Barrie, and John and his wife Dianne of Cobourg. Special uncle to Brian, Jeff, and Matthew Mowat. Predeceased by his parents Angus and Helen Mowat and by his first wife Frances Thornhill.
Farley Mowat was a member of the Order of Canada and the recipient of nine Honorary Doctorates. He was the author of 42 books, a writing career that spanned 63 years. His books are read around the world and have been translated into 26 languages. He will be greatly missed by his family and by many friends in many places.
A private family funeral will be held in Port Hope on a later date.

Elizabeth Grace (Evans) Hetherington of Elmwood, passed away suddenly at South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Chesley on Thursday, February 27, 2014 in her 73rd year.

 

Loving sister of Patsy (Gordon) MacLennan of Cornwall, Hope (Wayne) Pell of Cornwall and Richard Evans of Red Deer, Alberta. Beth will be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband Albert Akin and second husband Charles Hetherington, brother Stewart, sister Lynn and her parents, David and Viola (Hope) Evans.

 

In following Elizabeth’s wishes, cremation has taken place with inurnment to follow in the Chesley Cemetery.
