REA, George Frederick

Born October 9, 1926 in Whitby, Ont. and passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 in his 91st year.  Loyal and devoted husband of the late Joan Rea; nee Dubs (1987).  Caring father of Cheryl, David, Tara (John), and Adrienne (Norm).  He treasured his grandchildren Amber, Walker, Raven, and Bronson.

George retired as the Director of Pharmacy at Grace Hospital at the tender age of 57 and spent the next 34 years happily golfing, curling, and flying.  In his spare time, he maintained an awesome looking lawn!  George was a long-time member of Beach Grove Golf and Country Club for over 40 years.  This was his second home, he enjoyed as early as last year, still swinging a club.

George enjoyed belonging to and working with the members of the Canadian Historical Aircraft Association.  He loved flying; he excelled at formation flying and continued to fly several aircraft well into his 80’s.  At any given day, you could find him sitting at the side of County Road 42 just watching the planes come and go.

In addition to his many hobbies, George had a wide variety of talents.  He loved music and was proficient at the accordion and the organ.  He was also quite skillful with a wok and spent many years perfecting his famous ribs and buttered potatoes. He owned every new cooking gadget that came on the market, which became the kitchen theme of the month.

He was a kind and gentle soul that was patient, held no judgement and always snuck his sense of humor into the conversation.  You had to be on your toes to catch it.

George will be missed by all those fortunate enough to have known him.

In lieu of donations, and in his honor, please seize the opportunity to be kind and generous to those around you and let no expression of love go untold.

We would love to see his friends for visitation Tuesday 12:00pm -3:00pm and 5:00-8:00pm. Funeral service Wednesday 3:00pm at Families First 3260 Dougall Ave. South Windsor, 519-969-5841. Cremation to follow. Share memories or photos at
