Dear father of Robert, his wife Candice, Michael and his wife Amy all of London. Proud and dedicated grandfather of Julia and Gabriel. Bob will be missed by his many friends, family, and Manitoban cousins along with his beloved Honey. Bob was an avid outdoorsman enjoying the wooded area behind his home and fishing. He will always be remembered for his expertise in mycology. The Stark family would like to thank Dr. Brian Power and the incredible nursing staff at GBHS – Markdale. Watson: Vernon (Vern) of Abbotsford Formerly of Portage la Prairie

images-4It is with sadness that the family of Vernon Grant Watson announces his passing on Friday, July 8th, 2016, at the age of 92 after a brief illness. Vern passed peacefully in his sleep at Worthington Pavilion in Abbotsford BC., where he resided. Predeceased by his wife Vicki, parents William and Mary Watson, brothers Arnold, Alvin, Glen, sisters Edna, Phoebe, Ada. Vern will be lovingly remembered by his children Grant (Sandy), Kelly (Tara-Dawn) and Scott, grandchildren Nathan (Amanda), Brandy (Bryan), Shane, great grandchildren Simon and Gabiel as well as very close friends Ron and Deb Barbon.
Vern was born in Brandon MB. On March 22nd, 1924 and raised in Plumas MB on the family farm. He joined the armed forces in 1943 and served 4 years. After leaving the forces he became a stationary engineer in Portage la Prairie, MB where he was employed by the Manitoba and Federal governments until his retirement. Vern also started a roofing company in Portage that became Watson’s Roofing. Vern moved to Abbotsford BC. in 1987 where he lived until his passing.
He was very proud of his athletic accomplishments that included baseball, fastball, golf, curling and darts. He was known as one of the best fastball pitches of his era winning multiple local and Manitoba Championships with the Portage Mercurys. One of his fondest memories was out dueling Eddie Feigner’s King and His Court team. Vern was inducted into the Manitoba Softball Hall of Fame in 2003.
A private memorial service will be held in Portage la Prairie for family members.

TRICKEY:  Henry Alfred Trickey passed away peacefully at Billings Court Manor in Burlington on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at the grand age of 99, formerly of Montreal, Kitchener and Grand Bend. Beloved husband of the late Mildred Patricia Slater (1994) and the late Dorothy Ruth Wragg (2011), loved father of Michael and James Trickey and loved step-father of Pamela Nicholson. Grandfather of Ron Trickey, Christine Wanner, Devin Trickey, Colin Trickey, Amanda King and Aaron Trickey.  Great-grandfather of Cora and Noah King. Brother of Albert, Clarence, John, Leonard, Doreen Beck, Bernice Colman, Ellen Fletcher, Lillian Hutton and Isabella Harmer. Son of William Trickey and Florence Figg.  We will forever be grateful for his love and support and our sincere thanks to the staff at Billings Court Manor for their compassionate care. Cremation has taken place and a Service of Remembrance will be held at St. James Anglican Church, 137 Melville St., Dundas, Ontario, on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 11 a.m. The Rev. STEWART: Thomas R. “Tom” of Woodstock

Stewart, TomSTEWART, Thomas Russel “Tom” – Passed away suddenly on Thursday, June 19, 2014 in his 81st year, after attending a retirement party near Milton, ON.  During his years as a long distance truck driver, Tom acquired many, many friends and acquaintances all over North America.  He was the last surviving member of his family.  Tom was an avid collector of everything old, odd and unique.  Cars, trucks,  tractors, toys and various other items of interest to many.  As a known authority on vintage autos, and a member of almost every vintage collectable club, he was often asked to provide information to hobbyists with similar interests.  For more than 50 years, Tom’s red, 1909 Ford Model “T” was a familiar sight in Woodstock’s Victoria Day parade. Friends will be received at Old St. Paul’s Anglican Church, 723 Dundas Street, Woodstock on Friday, June 27, 2014 from 12 noon until 12:45 p.m.  A complete funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with Archdeacon Richard A. Born in Belleville, Ontario on May 12th, 1921. Died May 6th, 2014 at The Northumberlad Hills Hospital, Cobourg, Ontario. Beloved husband and best friend of Claire (nee Wheeler) for 48 years. Cherished father of Sandy and his wife Kim of Palgrave, Ontario and David and his family of Calgary, Alberta. Loving grandfather of Justin Mowat of Palgrave and Courtney and, Mellissa Mowat of Calgary. Brother of Rosemary Mowat of Barrie, and John and his wife Dianne of Cobourg. Special uncle to Brian, Jeff, and Matthew Mowat. Predeceased by his parents Angus and Helen Mowat and by his first wife Frances Thornhill.
Farley Mowat was a member of the Order of Canada and the recipient of nine Honorary Doctorates. He was the author of 42 books, a writing career that spanned 63 years. His books are read around the world and have been translated into 26 languages. He will be greatly missed by his family and by many friends in many places.
A private family funeral will be held in Port Hope on a later date.
