Beloved son of the late Edward Plante and Monica (nee Masse), was born in Windsor on May 19, 1953 and died in hospital on Aug 27, 2018. He was a loving and supportive husband to his beloved wife Maria (nee Cuffaro) and a wonderful father to daughters Anna and Monica. He was a much loved son in law to Calogero and Anna Cuffaro and brother in law to Michael and Bernadette Cuffaro.

Régis had 10 brothers and sisters, Janet and Ken Ouellette, Edward Plante and Tony Piscitelli, Nancy and the late Saul Nosanchuk, Rosemary and Harold Williams, Bill and Janine Plante, Gregory and the late Kathy Plante, Mary Lou and John Carruthers, Michael Plante, Susan and John Bialkowski, Andrea and Tony Kellam and many nieces and nephews who grieve for him.

Régis was a dedicated and loved teacher for many years, recently retired from St. Joseph’s High School. His students and colleagues appreciated his sense of humour and his deep knowledge of religion and philosophy. Through study and travel, including time spent with Indigenous Peoples in Labrador, he came to value his own family history, especially his French Canadian heritage.
His Roman Catholic faith was the centre of Régis’s life from childhood. He faced many challenges, including this last one, with humility, courage and acceptance of the will of God.

Régis was a lifelong learner and teacher. He would want his life of patience, kindness, compassion, and humour to be an inspiration to all of us, especially his beloved twins.

If you so desire, the family would appreciate donations for Masses in Régis’s memory.
