Jean-Paul Picard passed away peacefully October 21 at Health Sciences North at the age of 92, surrounded by his family who stayed by his side to the very end. Husband and best friend of the late Rita Lacoste Picard. Loving father of Paulette (Andrew Aitken), Louise (Richard Carrière), Carole (Eddie Kairovicius), Monique (Ron Dubuc), Daniel (Anne Gilbeau), Claire (Kent Armstrong). Cherished grandfather of Renée (Martin Robert), Danielle (Derrick Dixon), Michelle, Marie-Andrée (Cory Harris), Petras (Tara Galbraith), Christine (Joël Michaud), André (predeceased), Nicole (Charlie Charbonneau), Martin, Elyse (Kevin Gareau), Karine, Jamie, Mitchell and Maggie. Dear brother of Claudette (Al Wingell). Predeceased by his other siblings; Andréa Carrière, Gérald, Viviane (Wibb Hall). He was one of the founders of the Caisse Populaire des Voyageurs and owner of Assurance Picard Insurance (Trans-Ontario Insurance). He retired with Rita in their home in Manitowaning. Everyone who crossed his path has been charmed and inspired by his playful sense of humour, his fascination with nature, his generosity and his insatiable curiosity. He will be sadly missed yet he lives on through his passion for his family and his love of life. Special thanks to Dr. Fay, Dr. Oliphant and all the wonderful 4th floor nursing staff for their special care and compassion, as well as all his friends and staff of Southwind Retirement Residence. The family will receive friends at the Cooperative Funeral Home, 222 Lasalle Blvd., East, Sudbury, Tuesday, October 23 from 4 to 9 pm. A private service will be held on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, please make your donation (by cheque only) to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, Northern Cancer Foundation or Camp Kéno Foundation.
