PHARAND, LeoIn memory of Leo Pharand 91 years old, who passed away peacefully at Health Sciences North on Tuesday, November 5, 2013. Dear husband of 70 years of Lucille Pharand (née David).  Father of Gaëtanne (Bruce McNab) of Sudbury, Raymond (Gisèle) of Garson, Françoise (François Bouchard) of Coniston, Carmen (Raymond Bouchard) of Sudbury and Claudette (Guy Clément) of Blind River.  Grandfather of Lise Cushing, Paul and Robert McNab, Julie Dunphy, Raymond Jr. and Michael Pharand, Marc and Serge Bouchard, Stéphane and Patrick Clément.  Great-grandfather of David, Bradley, Magen, Emily, Anik, Stéfanie, Leo, Samantha, Asa, Grayson, Alexia, Kayla, Connor and Chloe.  Son of the late Dovina (née Henri) and Moïse Pharand.  He was the brother of Simone Beaulne (late Philippe), Rita Portelance (Roland StGermain) and predeceased by Fovita, Marie Jeanne Bodson (René), Germain (Irène), Gédéon (Madeleine), Omer (Mildred), Maurice (Yvette of Sudbury) also leaves many nephews and nieces.  Leo was born in Blezard Valley but moved to the Flour Mill with his family when he was 5 years old.  He retired from the Copper Cliff Smelter in 1982.  With Lucille, he lived in their house in Minnow Lake since 1949 until his passing.  Leo was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 11255 and an affiliate member of the Sudbury Legion Branch 76 in Minnow Lake since 1997.  The family will receive family and friends at the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 222 Lasalle Blvd. E., Sudbury on Friday, November 8, 2013 from 2-5 and 7-9:30 p.m.  Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Notre-Dame-de-la-Merci Church, Coniston.  If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations (by cheque only) to the Northern Cancer Foundation.
