Fleming: Patrick Francis of Sarnia

Peacefully surrounded by his family at Juravinski Hospital in Hamilton, on March 14th, Patrick passed away at the age of 78. He was the loving husband to Annie Teresa Fleming and predeceased by his beloved son Eamonn Fleming. He will be greatly missed by his daughters Anna Maria (David) Brownlow and Diardra (Mark) Thorne.  He was the cherished Grandpa Pat Frank to Kristen, Jenna, and Jack.  Patrick Fleming emigrated to Canada from Nenagh, Ireland, in 1958 and enrolled in London Ontario Teacher’s Collage.  In London he met his lovely wife Teresa and in 1960 they settled in Sarnia to raise their family.  Patrick spent the majority of his teaching career at Alexander Mackenzie High School.  An avid sports enthusiast and proud Irish man Patrick Fleming truly believed in the Irish adage “If you’re lucky enough to be Irish, then you’re lucky enough.”  He will be remembered fondly by his family both in Canada and Ireland. 

A funeral service will be held  on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, at 12 noon followed by interment at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery and a reception back at the Smith Family Centre.  The family would like to ensure that all friends and family of Patrick Fleming, if unable to attend the service, are welcome to visit with the family at the reception that follows.   Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
