PARK, Miss Edith Marion,C.R.N.A., Ph.D. – Born July 13, 1922, of Green Haven Estates, Sarnia, passed away at Bluewater Health, C.E.E. Hospital, Petrolia on Tuesday, October 30, 2012. Daughter of the late Bertha (1893-1988, Registered Nurse) and Tom (1887-1959, Business College Teacher and Farmer) Park. No siblings. Born in Petrolia C.E.E. Hospital, Edith was educated at S.S.#3 Plympton Public School and S.C.I.T.S., Sarnia, majoring in dress designing. She attended Mandaumin United Church and Presbyterian in the U.S.A. Under the talented teachings of Mrs. A. Earle Waghorne and Grace Steele Hall, Edith studied piano, to the 8th grade of music, and performed in the spring musical festivals at Central United Church, receiving diplomas and medals. In 1944, Edith graduated as a Registered Professional Nurse, from Sarnia General Hospital and Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Pediatrics, Detroit. After five years of private and general duty in local hospitals, and Florida, Edith went to Chicago, where she received her Degree in Anesthesia, from Cook County Hospital Graduate School of Medicine. She practiced anesthesia for over 37 years in the deep southern states, primarily Chattanooga, Tennessee and Alabama (24 years). She received her degree in Open-Heart Surgery Anesthesia, through the University of Tennessee. She also received her Dr. of Philosophy Degree in General and Natural Science. She is survived by first, second and many third cousins. Funeral services will be held from the Chapel of the D.J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Monday, November 5th at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Wyoming Cemetery. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 am until time of service. Sympathy may be expressed through memorial donations to the Sarnia Humane Society or Charity of Choice. Memories and messages of condolence may be sent through
