OVENS (CRICH), Abbie Yvonne – Born in Goderich on April 1, 1931. Abbie died on Sunday, April, 29, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Hospice surrounded by her family. Loving wife for 60 years of the late Frederick George Ovens (2011). Dear mother of Bonita Ovens-Taylor (William Taylor), Sarnia and Kristine (Alan) Morrill, Strathroy. Loving Grandma to Jessica, Patrick and Scott Ovens and Daniel and Philip Morrill. Dear sister of Donald (Marion) Crich, London; Ada Bell, Woodstock; Joseph Crich, London; and sister-in-law of Phyllis Crich, Sarnia; and Marjorie Sleeman, Waterloo. Abbie will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Predeceased by her parents Nelson and Eleanor Crich and her brother Lawrence Crich, sisters Evelyn Lucas and Margaret Rutledge. Abbie was an active longtime member of Central United Church. Fred and Abbie ran the family bakery on Mitton St., “Ovens Bakery”, for many years. Friends will be received at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N. on Tuesday, May 1 from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Central United Church on Wednesday, May 2 at 1:30 p.m. with The Rev. Dr. Christine Jerrett officiating. A family interment will be held later at Lakeview Cemetery.
