With heavy hearts, we regret to announce the passing of Hattie O’Rourke, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on Monday, February 18, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. Born March 25, 1936 in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Evangeline (Weatherbee) Richardson. As all her family and friends know, Hattie was an avid bingo player and acquired many special friends. She loved to travel to Florida and BC, as well as Lake Ainslie, which held a very special place in her heart, where she, Dad and family spent many years together. Hattie is survived by her daughters, Debra, Colleen (Glenn) Tighe, Peggy (Jay) King, Maureen (Jim), Susan (John) and Phyllis (Sheldon) Covey; sons, Philip (Leanne Matheson) and Sean (Tracey); brother, Brian (Kathleen) Richardson: sister, Sheila Mroz; sister-in-law, Peg Carrie; 17 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Phil; sister, Margaret Hopkins; brothers, Charles and Donald Wayne. We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the doctors and nursing staff of CCU and palliative care for the excellent care and compassion they provided our mother. Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Thursday, February 21 from 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at Holy Redeemer Church, Whitney Pier on Friday, February 22 at 10 a.m., with Rev. Paul Murphy officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to palliative care or the Holy Redeemer Building Fund. Bingo Prayer

As I lay me down to slumber

All I need is one more number

When to the next game I go

I Pray the Lord I yell

“Bingo”
