Ooms, Petronella Maria “Nellie” of St. Thomas, passed away on Saturday, November 10th, 2012, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, in her 82nd year. Beloved wife of the late John Ooms and dearly loved mother of John Ooms (Cathy) of Talbotville, Gerald Ooms of R.R. 7 St. Thomas, Anita Ooms of St. Thomas and Patricia Orbinski (Kevin) of Union, Bernice Streib (Pete) of Paynes Mills and Kenneth Ooms (Nina) of St. Thomas. Dear sister of Koos and Pete VanOorschot, Case VanOorschot and Cory Ooms, all of Holland. Predeceased by 2 sisters Nettie and Dimphie and a brother Leen. Much loved grandmother of Brad (Lianne), Greg (Nicole), Michele, Jonathon (Nicole), Jordan, Meghann (Paul), Rachael, Taylor, Aidan, Liam and Emma and great grandmother of Lilly, Keegan, Lucy and Cash. Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Nellie was born in Holland on September 3rd, 1931. She farmed with her husband John. Nellie was a member of Holy Angels’ Church, the C.W.L. the Stroke Recovery Group and a former member of the Paynes Mills Women’s Institute.

Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas until Wednesday and then to Hoy Angels Church where Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Holy Angels’ Cemetery. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. Visitation on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Flowers gratefully declined. Remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or charity of choice.
