wintringhwebWith sadness in their hearts the family would like to announce the passing of  MARIE ANNE WINTRINGHAM (nee Power), age 80 of Corunna, on Thursday May 16, 2013.  Predeceased by her loving husband of 53 years Ralph Edwin Wintringham (2010). Loving mother of  Lynne Lademer and her husband John, Carol Laframboise and her husband Marc, Jill Wintringham and her husband Michael Norrish and Gayle Marie Dale and her husband Dave. Grandmother of  Deana, Carly, Santino, Alesandra, Alyssa, Taylor, James, Adam and Victoria, step-grandmother of Brock and Brandon, great grandmother of Jaxon and Payton, aunt of Larry Wintringham and his son Lee.  Marie was born and raised in New Brunswick and was the youngest of thirteen children. She moved to Sarnia at the age of twenty two  where she met the love of her life Ralph Edwin Wintringham. A Private graveside service will be held at Lakeview Cemetery at the Wintringham family plot . Memorial gifts to the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation would be appreciated.

Loving grandpa of David (Viviane), Wendy Magee (Rob), Mark, Megan Flynn (Tristan), Adam (Colette), Mandy Curran (Matt), Christopher, Jared. Proud great-grandpa of Preston, Kayleigh, Ivan. Van Lanen-Wilhelmina Maria of St. Thomas, passed away peacefully at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, in her 80th year. Dearly loved wife of 55 years of Peter Van Lanen and loved mother of Jim Van Lanen (Bonnie) of Ilderton, Lorie Tennant (James) of London, late Josie and her husband Bill McCarvell of London and Joan-Marie Van Lanen of London. Dear sister of Leny  Gremmen, Mary De Loyer, Tina Van Berkel, John Snyders, Gerard Snyders, Joe Snyders, Anna Marie Sleegers, Jack Snyders and the late Tony Snyders. Loved grandmother of Jennifer, Amanda, Daniel, Rebecca, Jacob, Rachel, Johanna, Mark, Mary, Michael, Peter and Joshua and great grandmother of Isabella. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Wilhelmina was born in Asten, Holland on July 11, 1933, the daughter of the late Laurens and Johanna (Meulendyks) Snyder. She has lived in St. Thomas sincere 1996 and formerly of Lambeth. Wilhelmina was a member of Holy Angels’ Church, the Catholic Women’s League and Holy Angel’s Parish Choir.

Targett- Lloyd of St. Thomas passed away peacefully on Thursday May 9th, 2013 at the Caressant Care Home on Bonnie Pl. St. Thomas and formerly of Southdale Line, St. Thomas, in his 81st year. Loved brother of Roma McIntyre of Windsor, Joyce Smith and Shirley Haycock both of St. Thomas.  Lloyd will be sadly missed by a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was born June 4th, 1932 in St. Thomas, the son of the late William and Madelaine Targett. Lloyd was retired and had worked as a public school teacher and was later a principal for the Toronto Board of Education. He was an avid traveler.  He was a supporter and contributor of the Humane Society and had supported many other animal causes.

Shellington- Larry Douglas of Belmont passed away on Tuesday May 7, 2013 at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital in his 64th year. Loving son of Dorothy (Link) Shellington of St. Thomas and the late Lloyd Shellington (1980). Dear brother of Ross and his wife Joan Shellington of London and Shirley Durston (late Gordon) of St. Thomas. Loved father of Larry Shellington and Christine Shellington both of London.  Dear grandfather of Loston, Lou, Larik, Carl, Chloe, Ciera and Casha.  Also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.  Larry was born January 21, 1950 in London. He was a former welder and worked for V.M.E. and Clark Equipment. Larry was a lifelong resident of Belmont.

Cremation has taken place and a Private family memorial service will take place at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas. No public visitation. Donations may be made to the Lung Association or the Lymphoma society in Memory of Larry.

Titchner- Robert Franklin of St. Thomas passed away on Tuesday May 7th 2013, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospita , in his 87th year. Beloved husband of 63 years to Patricia (Harrington), dear father of Linda Titchner of St. Thomas, Larry Titchner and his wife Wendy of Toronto, Laurie Cummings and her husband Paul of St. Thomas, and Michael Titchner and his partner Michelle Endaya of Toronto. Dear brother of Edward Titchner. Predeceased by a brother William, and sisters Elizabeth and Alice. Loved grandfather of Jennifer, Laura, Carly, Mark, Matthew and Sofia. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Bob was born in St. Thomas on September 10, 1926 to the late William and Elizabeth (Poole) Titchner. He worked as a plumber for Rankin’s Plumbing and Heating for many years, after which he operated his own Plumbing and Heating Business. Later he was employed by United Association of Plumber Local 593 and worked in London and surrounding area until his retirement.

Sararas- Donald James of St. Thomas passed away at his late residence on Monday May 6th, 2013. Donald was born January 23, 1942 in Apsley, Ontario the son of the late Mortin and Grace Sararas.  Beloved husband of Lois (Elliott) Sararas and loving father of the late Kenneth Sararas (2008) and Dennis and his wife Mylene Sararas of Brantford. Dear grandfather of Amanda, Brandon,  Matthew, Dustin, Michael and great grandfather of Sydney. Predeceased by great granddaughter Rayne(2012). Dear brother of Elvin Sararas of Belleville and Terry Sararas of Huntsville. Predeceased by sister Freda Vardy and infant brother Gary.  He was retired from the Ford Motor Company in Talbotville. Donald enjoyed boating, fishing and relaxing at the cottage and loved snowmobiling and ice fishing in the winter. After he sold the cottage he had more time to visit with family and especially his 5 grandchildren which he loved so very much.

Gowanlock- Leon of Extendicare Home in Port Stanley, passed away on Sunday May 5th, 2013 at his late residence in his 71st year. Dearly loved father of Shelly Haycock (Mark) of St. Thomas and Heather Gowanlock (Darren) of Saskatoon,  and their mother the late Margaret Helen Gowanlock (2011).Loved grandfather of Taylor, Devon and Annie. Also survived by two sisters, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Leon was born July 5th, 1942 in St. Thomas, the son of the late Clarence and Audrey Gowanlock.  Leon was an avid Detroit Red Wing Fan. The family wish to extend their sincere and heartfelt thanks to Dr. Keenleyside and all the staff at Extendicare Home for their care, compassion and dedication to Leon,  you are all gifted caregivers.

Beloved son of Leonard Greenwell of London and the late Anne (Johnson) Greenwell (2007). Loved brother of Jessica Anne Greenwell of Toronto and  grandson of Elsie Greenwell of London and the late Enoch Greenwell and Shirley Johnson of London and the late Marshall A. Johnson. Dear nephew of Enoch Greenwell and Linda Greenwell. Dear cousin of Danielle Berko-Johnson of London, Chelsea Greenwell and Brendan Greenwell both of Windsor. Jeffrey was predeceased by an uncle Howard Johnson (2010). Jeffrey was born Feb. 18th, 1986 in London, he has spent the last number of years in China teaching English. Recently he was in an apprenticeship program to become an iron worker.

Elliott- Linda Darlene “Dar” of London and formerly of St. Thomas passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loving family on Friday May 3rd, 2013 at the L.H.S.C. Victoria Campus in her 66th year. Loved mother of Tara Elliott and partner Rob Walker of London and cherished Nana of Reilly, Dylan, Emma and Raegan. Dar was predeceased by her two sisters Margaret and Brenda Elliott. She was born May 10, 1947 in Tillsonburg, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Edna Elliott. Dar had recently retired from the Superstore in London and formerly owned and operated the Upper Deck Sports Bar and Restaurant in St. Thomas.

A Memorial Service will be held at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. Visitation 2 hours prior from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Cremation has taken place. Donations may be made to the Lung association in memory of Dar.

Beloved wife of the late Douglas Doan and dearly loved mother of Sandy (Mike) Clark and Patricia Eggett. Loved grandmother of Stacey (Doug) Adams, David (Brenda) Clark, Michelle Clark (Pierre) and Joe Eggett. Dear great grandmother of Mackenzie and Jordyn Adams, Chase and Michael Clark. Dear sister of Marilyn (Charles) Nethercott and sister-in-law of Charles (Shirley) Paul. Predeceased by her sister Wilma (Vic) Howard and Shirley Paul. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Vera worked in Health Care.

Buhagiar-Charles Carmelo “Charlie” of Valleyview Home, St. Thomas, passed away on Tuesday, April 30th, 2013, at his late residence, in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of the late Constance (Gauci) Buhagiar and the late Phyllis Irene (Reid) (Stafford) Buhagiar. Loved father of Mary and her husband Michael Muller of St. Thomas and step-father of Dan Stafford of Aylmer and Reid Stafford of B.C. Much loved grandfather of Brandon Dube (Josephine), Kyle Dube (Courtney) and Shayah Muller. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Charlie was born in Qormi, Malta on July 6th, 1930, the son of the late Espedito and Consiglia Buhagiar. He was retired from West End, Auto. Charlie was a member of St. Anne’s  Church. He bowled in many 5 pin Leagues in London and St. Thomas. He was a former member of the St. Thomas Seniors Centre.

Dear brother of Ken Fucile (Marlene) of London, Charlotte DeGraw of Grand Bend and Elaine Deaville of London.  Loved grandfather of Amanda, Zachary, Payton, Paige, Chayse, Colby, Avery, Ellee, Alicia and Jessica. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews and cousins. Robert was born in Thunder Bay on May 13th, 1949. He worked over 30 years for G.M.

John Patrick Duffy of Sarnia, in his 74th year, peacefully at Bluewater Health on May 7, 2013 after suffering a heart attack that morning at home. Son of the late Bridget Ann Duffy (nee McNally) (1968) and Owen Duffy (1972), of Glanworth. Also predeceased by his sister Maureen Ann Duffy (1960). Fondly remembered by numerous cousins in Ireland, the U.S. and Germany. John was a chemical engineer who enjoyed a long career at Polysar in Sarnia. ROSSER, Miss Jessie, of Caressant Care on Bonnie Place, St. Thomas, passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, in her 92nd year.  Dear sister of Ruth McDonald of London.  Also fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews.  Jessie was predeceased by two sisters, Margaret Sherry and Lillian McIntyre, and three brothers, Harley, Elliott and Evan Rosser.  Born in St. Thomas, November 2, 1921, she was the daughter of the late John M. and Lillian H. (nee Johnson) Rosser, and the step-daughter of the late Esther E. (nee Baker) Rosser.   A missionary for 40 years, Jessie served under the auspices of the Canadian Baptist Overseas Mission Board in charge of a girl’s school in Kakinada in South India and worked with Bible women in Vuyyuru and later Tuni.  She was a member of Centre Street Baptist Church, St. Thomas and was the Honourary President of the Jessie Rosser Mission Circle.  In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place, and private interment will be made in the St. Thomas Cemetery, West Ave.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Centre Street Baptist Church, St. Thomas (Centre & Southwick) on Monday, May 13th at 2:30 p.m., with a reception to follow.  If so desired, memorial donations to the Canadian Baptist Ministries (CBM) will be gratefully acknowledged.  Arrangements entrusted to the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160).

Alvin Good (1994).  Dearly loved mother of Mark Puhr (Pat) of St. Thomas.  Dear step-mother of Robert Good (Liz) of R.R.#7, Aylmer, Margaret Hutchison (Carm) of St. Thomas, Nancy Hansen (Gary) of Ingersoll, Richard Good of Guelph and the late John Good (Virginia of R.R.#2, Wallacetown).  Loved sister of Lois Stevens (Ted) of Welland.  Also survived by a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.  Born in London, ON, July 16, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Asa and Viola (nee Ruddle) Frayne.  Jean formerly worked as a caregiver for the V.O.N. in London, ON.  She was an active member of St. Andrew’s United Church, St. Thomas, where she was a member of the U.C.W. and the Prayer Shawl Group.  Jean was a member of  the St. Thomas Seniors’ Centre and the Lambton County Branch, O.G.S.  In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place.  A public memorial service to celebrate Jean’s life will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church, 60 West Ave., St. Thomas on Saturday, May 11th at 2:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service.  Interment of her cremated remains will be made at a later date in Avonbank Cemetery, Avonbank.  If so desired, memorial donations to St. Andrew’s United Church Memorial Fund will be gratefully acknowledged.  Arrangements entrusted to the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160).

Lawson ObitLAWSON – Ronald “Pye” Douglas Lawson of St. Thomas passed away peacefully on Monday, May 6, 2013 at the age of 92.  Beloved husband of the late Winifred Lawson (nee Jones).  Ron is survived by children Veronica (Glen) Walters of St. Thomas, Derek (Suzanne) Lawson of Hamilton, Jenefer LaForet of London; son-in-law Bill Prevost (the late Lesley) of London; grandchildren Wade (Carla) Walters of Toronto, Kyle (Rena) Walters of Winnipeg, Dana (Pete) Lawson of Hamilton, Geoff (Lynn) Lawson of Hamilton, Trevor LaForet of London, Heather (Alex) Prevost of London, Rachel Prevost of London; five great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, and extended family in the USA.  Predeceased by Dorothy Lawson (nee Cousins), Joan Cullen, and three brothers.  Ron was wounded while serving in the Imperial Army in North Africa, and taken prisoner of war in Italy, then eventually repatriated.  He immigrated to Canada in 1947 and retired from General Motors in 1980. He was Past President and Branch Executive for the Western Ontario Branch of the War Amps; National Director and Member of the National Council of the War Amps.  Ron was an honoured recipient of the Queen’s Jubilee Medal.  Friends and family will be received at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570) on Saturday, May 11, 2013 from 11:00am to 12:00 noon. NOEL – Joseph Gerard “Jerry” Noel passed away at home with his family by his side, on May 6, 2013 at the age of 82. Beloved husband of Roseann Noel (nee Serle).  Jerry is survived by his siblings Cecile Pinsonneault of Windsor, Frank (Denise) Noel of Tecumseh, Juliette (Ernie) Brousseau of Chatham; special nieces and nephews Mary Anne (Jim) Tinline of Thamesville and Dave (Faye) Dores of Lethbridge, Alberta, Rene (Judy) Masse of Tilbury; his cousins Bob (Donna) Serle of London, Susan (Filippo) Ornato of London, Joe (Marg) Ornato of Mt. Brydges; his brother-in-law Paul (Maria) LeBlanc of Strathroy; his good friends Paul Varga (Marg Kelly) of Mt. Brydges, Stan (Mary) Lunn of St. Thomas; and by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sisters Ewilda, Antoinette, Blanche, Theresa, and his parents Joseph and Louise Noel.

Jerry was a self-employed house painter, and in his spare time enjoyed billiards, bowling, woodworking and cooking.   Jerry was also a decorated War Veteran, having served his country proudly on the Korean front with the distinguished Enfield rifles of the 1st Battalion, Royal 22nd Regiment Val Cartier Quebec, known as the ”Van Doos” followed by a period of time with post war Special Services, then on return to Canada with the, 2nd Battalion of the Royal Canadian Regiment .   Arrangements entrusted to the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570).  Cremation has taken place.  Interment and short service in South Park Cemetery, Sunset Road St. Thomas on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 11:00am.  If desired, donations to Animal Aide, Pets Friends 4 Life, C.C.A.C or your choice of charity would be appreciated.  Personal condolences to the family can be made at www.shawnjacksonfuneralhome.com

Dorothy Batty EditedBATTY – Dorothy May Jean Batty of Bobier Villa, Dutton has gone to be with the Lord!  In the early hours of Monday, May 6, 2013 Dorothy passed gently into the arms of Jesus. Survived by her sister Betty Milligan of Bobier Villa, Dutton;  her nephew and caregiver Terry Batty of St. Thomas, and several other nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by her parents William and Alice Batty, her brother Robert Batty, and her sisters Marguerite Rickwood and Ruth LaCroix.  Dorothy was retired from Redman Motors (Singer Controls, St. Thomas) and was a member of the Salvation Army Church.  Visitation will be held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570) on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00pm.  The funeral service will be held at the Salvation Army Church, 380 Elm Street, St. Thomas on Wednesday, May 8 at 2:00pm.  Interment in Elmdale Cemetery.  If desired, donations to Animal Aide of St. Thomas would be appreciated, flowers respectfully declined.  Personal condolences to the family can be made at www.shawnjacksonfuneralhome.com

Jones,  Mrs. Tillie, of Strathmere Lodge, Strathroy, passed away at her late residence on Friday, May 3, 2013, in her 93rd year.  Beloved wife of the late William A. Jones (2005).  Dearly loved mother of Mary Anne Dubé Jones of Strathroy and Audrey Cole (William) of Courtenay, BC.  Cherished grandmother of William Dubé (Kelly) of London and Garfield Dubé of Strathroy, and great grandmother of Killian and Conan Dubé of London.  Dear sister of the late Joseph, and late Bart Pascuzzo.  Born in London, ON, January 17, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Myrtle (nee Calcutt) Pascuzzo.  In keeping with her wishes, a private graveside service will be held at St. Thomas Cemetery, West Avenue.  Memorial donations to the charity of one’s choice gratefully acknowledged.  Arrangements entrusted to the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160).

jim peckham 3PECKHAM, James D. “Jim”, of St. Thomas, passed away peacefully at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital on Thursday, May 2, 2013, in his 55th year.  Beloved husband for 21 years to Anne Murray.   Dearly loved father of Deb Sutherland and her husband Doug.  Cherished grandfather of Bronson, Chelsea, Courtney, Ashleigh and Devyn, and proud great grandfather of Kylie.  Dear brother of Anne, Chuck and his wife Diane, Morris and his wife Diane, Carl and his wife Niki, and the late Ted Jr.  Also fondly remembered by several in-laws and many nieces and nephews.  Jim worked as a salesperson at various Ford automobile dealerships in the area, most recently at St. Thomas Ford Lincoln.  He was an avid gardener and enjoyed playing cribbage.  In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place.  Relatives and friends will be received by the family at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.  A public memorial service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church, 55 Hincks St., St. Thomas (Hincks & Wellington) on Monday, May 6th at 2:00 p.m.  If so desired, memorial donations to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation will be gratefully acknowledged.
