Krug, BruceBruce Arthur Krug of Chesley, passed away at Elgin Abbey, Chesley on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 in his 95th year.

 

Beloved son of the late Christian and Mary (Hauser) Krug. Bruce was the last surviving member of his family and was predeceased by his sisters Lily (Alfred) Siegrist, Florence (Ralph) Gibson and brothers, Wilfred, Russell, Howard and Reverend Crossley. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces, Nancy (Tom) Thomson of Hawkstone, Sally Lee Dyke of Florida and Mary Ndlovu of Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, South Africa. He is survived by nephew Jim (Karen) Siegrist of Chesley and Trix Krug of Toronto.

 

Visitation will be held at Rhody Family Funeral Home, Chesley on Friday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. where a funeral service celebrating Bruce’s life will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 11 a.m. Interment in Chesley Cemetery.

Stanley0001Peacefully, Louise, in her 78th year, entered Heaven on Sunday May 19, 2013 at the Meaford Long Term Care Centre with her family at her side.  Louise, beloved wife of Jim Stanley for almost 60 years.  Loving mother of Paul (Barbara), Jimmy (Elma), David (Michelle), John (Barb), Daniel (Wendy) and Joseph (Wendy). Cherished grandmother of 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Barton, JimJames (Jim) Barton – The Massey tractor stands quiet as Jim Barton of Atwood has taken his final drive, passing away at Listowel Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family on May 18, 2013 at the age of 87.  Jim was a passive man who loved to tinker in his shop rebuilding cars, tractors, and making anything old new again.  He enjoyed spending time with family and special great grandchildren at the Point Clarke cottage telling long stories of past times.

Beloved husband of Dorothy (Johnson) Barton whom he married in 1949.   Loving father of Elizabeth Long of RR1 Elmwood and Lois Robertson of Atwood. Special gramps of Shelley Long, Kelly Robertson and Kevin Jackson, Tim Robertson and Carla Shaw.  Very special papa of Brody and Sophie Jackson.  Fondly remembered by sister-in-law Elaine Carson of Listowel and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Predeceased by his parents Sam and Susan (Torrance) Barton, his sons-in-law Bob Robertson and Murray Long, sisters-in-law Marguerite and husband Elgin Wilson, Ruth and husband Clayton Johnston and brother-in-law Albert Carson.

Raymond (Margaret) of Chesley, Teresa (Clifford) James of Southampton, Mary Cotter of Kitchener, Brian (Joanne) of Kitchener, Dorothy (Ken) Knorr of Chase, B.C. and Paul (Joyce) of Fergus.  Cherished grandfather of eighteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great great grandson. Harold was predeceased by his wife Velma (Russell), brothers Michael, James, Joe, Basil, Earl, sisters Mary Westfall and Kathleen Cook, son-in-law Gerald Povelofskie, daughter-in-law Carol Ann Cotter, grandsons Kevin and David Povelofskie, Quinton Jacklin, and his parents, Cornelius and Emily (Wall) Cotter.

Robert “Bob” Corsie, of Hanover, passed away at Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, in his 70th year.

Born in Port Arthur, son of the late Thomas and Maude (McNichol) Corsie.  Bob was a Sergeant with the O.P.P – District 17, District 16 and District 6.

Survived by wife Donna (nee Funnell) Corsie, son Rob (Christine) Corsie of Orlando, Florida and daughter Kim (Mike) Bastin of Keswick, grandchildren Michael, Kyle and Anelise.  Also survived by brothers Tom (Betty) Corsie and Doug Corsie both of Nanaimo, British Columbia.

United in marriage on May 22, 1971, she leaves to mourn her beloved husband Bernard. Loving mother of Nancy (Greg) Kuhl of Port Elgin, Michael (Kathy) of Hanover, Tim (Melissa) of Guelph and Steve of Walkerton. Cherished grandmother of Jamie, Carly, Linda and Lily. Davis (2010).  Dear mother of Edith Lamb of Orillia, Bob and Coreen Davis of Lucan, Fred and Janis Davis of La Salle, Cheryl and Jim Cook of RR 8 Owen Sound.  Dear grandmother of Steve and Maria, Dean and Cheryl, Lynn, Jill and Eddie; Kirk and Rosalee, Kelly, Kerrie; Mark, Scott; Carley and Nathan, Luke, Dylan and 13 great-grandchildren.  Dear sister and sister-in-law of twin sister Priscilla Bray of Fordwich and Betty Gowing, Bob and Doreen Raymond and Esther and Jack McCutcheon all of Brussels. Predeceased by her granddaughter Dana, sister Winnie Conaboy and brothers Harold and Derek.

UNRUHwebOliver Unruh, of R.R. 1 Elmwood, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, May 01, 2013, in his 81st year.

Born in Bentinck Township, son of the late William and Mary (Posner) Unruh.  Oliver was raised on the family farm where he spent his entire life and was a former member of the Hanover, Bentinck and Brant Agricultural Fair Board and a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church Elmwood.

Survived by wife Dianne (nee Stock) Unruh, son Paul (Audra) Unruh of R.R. 1 Elmwood, daughters Ann (James) Fillier of Hornings Mills and Brenda (Steven) Fifield of Orangeville, grandchildren Bradley, Leslie, Curtis, Lauren, Hope and Jacob.  Also survived by a sister Mabel Gibson of Hamilton.  Predeceased by a sister Lavina Schreinert.

Visitation will be held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 pm.   A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 04, 2013 at 11:00 am, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Elmwood. Rev. Hanna Aasa officiating.  Interment in St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery, Bentinck Township.

McGregor, EllenWith saddened hearts, but with thankfulness for a life well lived, we announce that Ellen Janet McGregor (nee Kirkwood) passed away peacefully, in her 99th year, with her loving family by her side at Elgin Abbey Nursing Home, Chesley on Tuesday, April 30, 2013.

 

Beloved wife of the late John Alexander McGregor (1990). Loving mother of Isobelle (Jim) Greig of Bentinck Township and Mary (Bruce) Fullerton of R.R. #1 Desboro. Cherished grandmother of Steven (Gina) Greig, Amanda Fullerton and Ryan (Krista) Fullerton and great-grandmother of Avril Greig and Reid Fullerton. Ellen is survived by her sister-in-law Ruth Kirkwood of Waterdown. She was predeceased by her brothers, Gavin, John and Allan, sisters Mary Myles and Ida Miller and a brother and sister in infancy.

 

Visitation will be held at Rhody Family Funeral Home, Chesley where the family will receive visitors on Friday, May 3, 2013 from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. Interment in Chesley Cemetery.

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that Rachael’s family announces her passing on Monday, April 29, 2013 in her 28th year.  Cherished daughter of John Close and Brenda Sutherland and much loved sister of Joshua (Danielle) Close of Manhatten, New York and Jeremiah (Cassie Kipfer) Close of St. Mary’s.  Granddaughter of Rhoda Sutherland (Don Tew) of Owen Sound.  Aunt of Ellison Close, Andrea Carter and Callen Close.  She will be very sadly missed by her second Mom Judy Larkin of Red Bay and was a special sister of Heather Galoska (Noel Dyer) of Guelph, David (Claire) Galoska of Calgary, Alberta and Gregory Galoska (Jessica Hammond) of Toronto.  Many aunts, uncles and cousins will forever cherish her memory.

Born in Morse, Saskatchewan to the late Cecil and Ada (nee Bowers) Long.  Beloved wife of the late William “Bill” Dyer, the love of her life who she married on May 3, 1941.

Survived by sons Bill (Marjukka) Dyer of Tampere, Findland, Jim (Elizabeth) Dyer of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, daughters Judy (Doug) Watt of St. Martin, Manitoba, Laurel Krueger of Hanover, loving grandchildren Melanie, Joel (Kristiina), Lisa (Liz), Christopher (Bev), Stacy (Lance), Robert (Eunil), Matthew, Nathaniel (Angela) and great grandchildren Josh (Nicole), Mischa, Alex, MacKenzie, Samantha, Lydia, Charlie, Chase, Marley, Oliver and Isaac and many special nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by her daughter Patricia Dyer, son in law Keith Krueger, grandsons Patrick Watt, Shane Krueger, a great grandson Patrick Mount and two brothers Eddie and Ralph Long.

Schenk: Kenneth “Ken” of Hanover

schenkKenneth “Ken” Schenk, of Hanover, passed away at The Village Senior’s Community, Hanover on Monday, April 29, 2013.  He was 83.

Born in Ayton on August 16, 1929 to Alvin and Emma (nee Rehkopf) Schenk. Ken was employed at the Ayton Feed Mill and enjoyed farming. After moving to Hanover, Ken was employed with Morrows Home Hardware. When he retired, Ken enjoyed his many friendships and kept busy as a member of the Hampden Seniors Club.

Beloved husband of Wilma (nee Marshall). Dear father of Donald Schenk of Ayton and Dianne Schenk (Wayne Whetham) of R.R. #3 Walkerton.  Survived by his 2 brothers Gerald (Verna) Schenk of Ayton and Garnet (Alice) Schenk of Gravenhurst and by his brother in law Ken (Kendra) Zurbrigg of Kincardine. Predeceased by his sister Joan Zurbrigg.

Visitation will be held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.  A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 02, 2013 at 11:00 am, at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. Rev. Don Hill officiating.  Interment in Hampden Cemetery.
