TESSIER, JeannetteThe family announces with sorrow her passing in Sudbury on Monday, May 13th, 2013 at the age of 91 years.  Wife of the late Joseph Tessier (1954) and life partner of the late Rolly Charron.  Daughter of the late Joseph  and the late Eva (née Francoeur) Bouchard.  Beloved mother of Pauline St-Martin (Aurel Strong) and Pierrette Morin (John) both of Sudbury and Paulette Jeanveau (Maurice) of Lavigne.  Predeceased by her son Jean-Paul (Sharion Sloan).  She is survived by all her sisters, Gertrude, Alice, Aline, Irène, Georgette, Jacqueline, Simone, Lucille and Gabrielle.  Predeceased by her brothers Arthur, Emilien and Léo.  Cherished grandmother of Joey, Michael, Denis, Denise, Sue, Joanne, Diane, Peter, Carol, Ronald, Daniel, Diane, Dixie-Lee, Jeannine and Rachelle.  Predeceased by her grandson Chase.  Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by many great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.   Jeannette was a former member of the Ontario Moose Association, Elliot Lake #1615.  The family will receive relatives and friends at the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 222 Lasalle Blvd, Sudbury, Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9:30 p.m.  A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, May 17th, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in St-Jean-de-Brébeuf Church, Sudbury.  Donations by cheque only to the Northern Cancer Foundation would be appreciated.

PERREAULT, Helene (for Sudbury Star)It is with great sorrow that the family witnessed the peaceful passing of our dear mother at Pioneer Manor on Tuesday, April 30th, 2013 at the age of 100 years. Hélène was born in Bonfield on June 7th, 1912. She graduated from normal school at 16 years old in Sturgeon Falls with a teaching certificate. She was always fashionably dressed to teach and always in her high heel shoes. She gave birth to eight children while she continued to teach. She was very involved in her community in Sturgeon Falls. She sang at church weddings and wrote articles in the “North Bay Nugget” about Sturgeon Falls. She was an active member of the daughters of Isabella and was chosen to give a speech at a daughters of Isabella’s conference in Boston. In 1962, she agreed to move to Sudbury to let her husband fulfill his dream of opening a grocery store. Together, they operated “H.P. Grocery and Confectionary” on Montague Street in Donovan, 7 days a week for 10 years. To better serve her clients, she took a conversational Italian class at night. She would always follow through with her dreams. At 72 years old she decided it was time to take up golf. At close to 60 years old, she decided to get her drivers license. Reading was her passion, she always had a book in her hands. She loved to play bridge and continued to play well into her 90’s. Hélène was the wife of the late Hormidas Perreault (Sudbury citizen of the year in 1975). Hélène was the loving mother of Ronald Perreault (Louise) of Montreal, Lucille Botsford (late Bob) of Fort Frances, Monique Allain (late Sylvio) of Sudbury, Jean-Luc Perreault (Lise) of Iroquois Falls and Francine Blake (Jean Marc) of Montreal and dear sister of Lucille Cusson of Val Caron. She was predeceased by her daughter Géraldine Hingley, two babies Lucette and Michel and by her brothers. Predeceased by her brothers Louis, André, George and Lionel. She will be dearly missed by her 18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 2 great great- grandchildren. The family is deeply appreciative of the dedication, compassion and respect displayed by all the staff of Pioneer Manor. They allowed her to maintain her dignity right to the end. A funeral service will be held in the chapel of the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 222 Lasalle Blvd., Sudbury on Friday, May 3rd, 2013 at 12 p.m. Donations (by cheque only) to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would greatly be appreciated.

Loving father of Kristine Major (Ryan Parent) and of Monique Harju (William) both of Chelmsford. Synopsis: Janice Margaret Featherston was born June 30, 1949 into a military family and spent her early years on her grandparents’ farm while her father served his country in Korea. Following his return from the war, the family led a typical military nomad life with postings in Petawawa, Winnipeg and Ottawa among others. She became the typical ‘Army Brat’ and maintained the ‘Brat’ part well beyond the early years.

Following her graduation from Woodroffe High in Ottawa (’68), Jan attended the University of Western Ontario where she was granted a Bachelor of Music, Honors in Music Education (’72) and a Diploma in Education, Post Baccalaureate Program, Althouse College (’73). Armed with her unstoppable desire to teach High School music, Jan responded to a note on the bulletin board at Althouse and soon became one of the founding faculty of what has become the world-renowned Music Industry Arts program at Fanshawe College. During her tenure, she touched the lives of the vast majority of the students that passed through the halls, many of whom have gone on to be some of the most creative and influential leaders of the international music industry.

Jan was principled woman who wasn’t afraid to stand up for what she believed and did so regularly with an amazing combination of tenacity and compassion. She was true leader whose greatest joy was watching others grow and flower, a real scrapper; who won every battle she took on, except one. The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Borrie and the team at the Aging Brain and Memory Clinic at Parkwood Hospital, Betsy Little and everyone at the Alzheimer Society London and Middlesex, and all the staffs at both Horizon Place Retirement Residence and McGarrell Place Long Term Care for all their compassionate and professional support throughout this ordeal.

A remembrance will be held at the Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London Ontario between 7:00 and 9:00 PM on Friday April 12. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer Society London & Middlesex www.alzheimerlondon.ca.

Cherished grandmother to  Nathan (Nicole), Erin (James), Zacharie, Brigitte (Steve), Jérémie and great grandchildren Brendan and  Brienna.  Dear sister of Georges (Jeannine), Edmond (Paulette), Gaëtanne Rivet (Claude) and Claudette Brisson (Raymond).  Predeceased by her brothers Rodolphe (Laurence), Thomas (Aurore), Raymond (Jeannette), Claude (Lise) and by her sister Lucille Roy (late Lionel).  She will also be missed by the St. Louis family and many nieces, nephews and friends. Madeleine was a woman of utmost courage having survived many tragedies in her life.  Her positive outlook and “one day at a time” attitude was inspiring to all who knew her.  She was the glue who held us together and will be greatly missed.  The family will receive relatives and friends at the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 222 Lasalle Blvd, Sudbury on Saturday, February 2nd, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel, Sudbury.   A reception will be held on site after the service. McKever, BettyBetty Marie (Rae) McKever of Chesley, formerly of North Bay, passed away at South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Chesley on Saturday, March 23, 2013 in her 81st year.

Beloved mother of David of Hamilton, Lynne (Stewart) Hamilton and John (Anne), all of North Bay. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, David (Virginia) Willms, John McKever and Keith Crowder as well as her great-granddaughter Courtney Willms. Betty will be sadly missed by her sister Bea (Bob) Sockett of Guelph and brother Robert Rae of Cambridge. She was predeceased by her husband Larry, sister Shirley Zalman and her parents, Charlie and Madelyn (Wieck) Rae.

Visitation will be held at Rhody Family Funeral Home in Chesley on Thursday, March 28, 2013 from 12 noon until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. Spring interment in Chesley Cemetery.

Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

It is with sorrow that we announce the passing of Charlene on March 19, 2013 in St. Thomas, Ontario after a long and valiant struggle with sarcoma.  She was the daughter of Susan Neily of Kingston and Don (Joyce) of Goderich.  Her children, Jane, Katey and Ron Jr. were the love of her life.  Charlene is survived by siblings, Derrick, Sara and twin sister Karen, who was her best friend and soul mate.  Also cherished are Zachary, Emryss and Jacob.  Charlene was born in North Bay where she attended West Ferris Secondary School and Canadore College.  She had many interests.  In her youth, she excelled at Ringette and in the summer liked to play baseball.  Charlene’s vacations at Rabbit Lake were very special.  She loved to fish, especially when the pickerel were biting.  As per Charlene’s wishes, cremation has taken place.  Arrangements entrusted to Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas, Ont. ROWLINSON, ELIZABETH (BETTY) JEAN ABERCROMBIE (KESSON). It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother on Saturday February 23, 2013 at Bluewater Health. Much loved mother of Ruth (Bryan) Chappell and Larry (Deb) Rowlinson. Cherished grandmother of Kelly (Troy) Chappell, Kim (Gord) Bailey, Tracy (Sean) Chappell, Laurie Rowlinson – Thorpe, Jennifer Rowlinson, Shannon (Brian) Rawcliffe, David (Kelsey) Rowlinson and Amey (Chris) Reinders and 16 great grandchildren. Mom was born in Petrolia on April 7, 1919. Beloved wife of the late William (Bill) Rowlinson (1979). Predeceased by her parents Alexander Kesson and Jean Abercrombie Kesson. Upon her retirement from Manley’s at age 65, Mom began a very busy second career volunteering with the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Senior V.I.P., Canadian Mental Health Association (Interlink) and at Sarnia General Hospital and Marshall Gowland Manor. Mom’s loving way, genuine kindness and the sparkle in her eye will never be forgotten. Mom will be forever loved and missed. A funeral service will be held at the D.J. ROBB FUNERAL HOME and CREMATION CENTRE (102 Victoria Street at Davis St.) Sarnia on Thursday February 28, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Lakeview Cemetery. Beloved husband of Fernande (née Gauthier) Prévost and the late Rhéa (née Lamarche) Prévost.  Son of the late Alyre and the late Florisse (née Mallette) Prévost.  Loving father of Marcel (Paulette) of Val Caron and Bob (Diane) of St. Charles.  Dear brother of Marcienne Seguin (late Fernand), Aline Seguin (late Ted) and Estelle Gauthier (Marcel) all of Sudbury.  Predeceased by his sisters Marie-Luce Pilon (late Gerard), Gertrude Poirier (late Alphonse), Rose Agathe Dubois (late Joseph), Léonie Bertrand (late Leo) and by his brothers Gontrand (Juliette of Sudbury) and Rodrigue.  Sadly missed by his grandchildren Michel, Stéphane, Marc, Chantal, Mélanie and by his great-grandchildren Gabrielle, Bernadette, Véronique, Francine, Alexandre, Samuel, Hayle, Emma and Audrey.
