Paul NewberryNEWBERRY- Paul Newberry passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, after a long and courageous battle with cancer at the age of 65.  Paul is survived and lovingly remembered by his mother Averille Newberry of Oakville; his partner Darlene Nevill of St. Thomas; his stepchildren Jason Nevill and his daughter Katelyn Behrens of St. Thomas and Jamie Nevill (Angie Nolan) of London and his son Joshua Hutchin; his brother Steve Newberry (Paul DeRose) of Oakville; and by his niece Amanda and nephew Corey Newberry.  Predeceased by his father George Newberry.  Paul was born in Cardiff, Wales and immigrated to Canada as a child.  He was a driver for Cox Cabs and will be remembered by those who knew him for his sharp sense of humour.  Cremation has taken place.  A private interment of ashes will take place on a later date.  Arrangements entrusted to the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570).  If desired, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital-Continuing Care Centre would be appreciated.    Personal condolences to the family can be made at www.shawnjacksonfuneralhome.com

Beloved husband of the late Marjorie (Burgess) Bolton (1971) and the late Audrey (Pearce) Bolton (2011). Predeceased by his parents Neil and Evelyne Bolton and his grandson Brodie Stevens. Loving father of Kathleen McLachlan (Peter), Sandra Smith (Murray), David Bolton (Robin), Stephanie Stevens (Paul) and step-father of Sherrie and Helmut Rastel. Cherished grandfather of Emile Maxwell (Denis), Hugh McLachlan (Kyllie), Brian McLachlan (Miranda), Sarah Kerr (Alec), Kyle Smith, Russell Bolton, Frances Bolton (Simone), Wendy Bolton and Evan Stevens. Step grandfather of Steven Borthwick (Melissa), Kevin Borthwick (Chelsey) and Lisa Borthwick (Rob), and their children. Neil was a mechanical contractor and owner of Calcott Mechanical and partner in RNR Mechanical. He was a key contributor to the formation and ongoing operation of the Sarnia Mechanical Contractors Association holding many executive positions including President. Neil was a veteran of the Royal Canadian Navy seeing active sea duty during World War II on Corvettes. His enjoyment of the water carried on as he owned sailboats and was a long time member of the Sarnia Yacht Club.

A celebration of Neil’s life will be held on Saturday, May 25th, 2013 with a memorial reception at the SMITH FAMILY CENTRE (in front of Smith Funeral Home), 1576 London Line, Sarnia, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. SwanAdelineweb copyPeacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Lambton Meadowview Villa, Petrolia.  ADELINE SWAN (nee McNally), of Inwood, was in her 97th year.   Adeline was the loving wife of the late Elmer (1978).  She was a loving mother of Donna and Rudy Krall of Petrolia, Marilyn and Owen Byers of Oil Springs, Janice and Leonard Weed of Petrolia, Kevin Swan and Liz Robinson and the late Dianne (1992) of Mississauga, and the late Harold “Cap” Swan (1999) and Douglas Swan (1941), and mother-in-law to Nancy and Doug Coleman of Alvinston.   Adeline will be missed by her grandchildren Doug (Judy) Krall, Cathy (Dale) Acton, Jim (Sandra) Krall, Sharon (Mike) Stevenson, Lori (Roy) Chapple, Mike (Dawn) Krall, Jeffrey (Lu) Byers, Brian (Jane) Byers, Rebecca (Dave) Debacker, Pamela (Robb) Barrington, Kelly (Tania) Weed, Sandra Swan, Jennifer Swan, Robert Swan, Lesley Swan, Terry-Lynn, Krista, Nancy Sue (Mike) Thomson, Bill (Connie) Swan, John (Cathy) Swan, Scott (Jen) Swan, and Marty (Mary-Anne) Swan, and by her forty-five great grandchildren and her seven great great grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her parents William and Annie McNally, her siblings Evelyn Smith, Garnet McNally, Annie Mae Wallis, and Ross McNally.  She will be missed by her sisters-in-law Jean and Phyllis Swan, and her brother-in-law Gord Swan.   Adeline was an active member of Shiloh-Inwood U.C.W., was a life member of O.E.S Britannia Chapter #34, and was a member of Brooke Women’s Institute.  Visitors will be received on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the NEEDHAM-JAY FUNERAL HOME, Petrolia where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Synopsis: Janice Margaret Featherston was born June 30, 1949 into a military family and spent her early years on her grandparents’ farm while her father served his country in Korea. Following his return from the war, the family led a typical military nomad life with postings in Petawawa, Winnipeg and Ottawa among others. She became the typical ‘Army Brat’ and maintained the ‘Brat’ part well beyond the early years.

Following her graduation from Woodroffe High in Ottawa (’68), Jan attended the University of Western Ontario where she was granted a Bachelor of Music, Honors in Music Education (’72) and a Diploma in Education, Post Baccalaureate Program, Althouse College (’73). Armed with her unstoppable desire to teach High School music, Jan responded to a note on the bulletin board at Althouse and soon became one of the founding faculty of what has become the world-renowned Music Industry Arts program at Fanshawe College. During her tenure, she touched the lives of the vast majority of the students that passed through the halls, many of whom have gone on to be some of the most creative and influential leaders of the international music industry.

Jan was principled woman who wasn’t afraid to stand up for what she believed and did so regularly with an amazing combination of tenacity and compassion. She was true leader whose greatest joy was watching others grow and flower, a real scrapper; who won every battle she took on, except one. The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Borrie and the team at the Aging Brain and Memory Clinic at Parkwood Hospital, Betsy Little and everyone at the Alzheimer Society London and Middlesex, and all the staffs at both Horizon Place Retirement Residence and McGarrell Place Long Term Care for all their compassionate and professional support throughout this ordeal.

Kaye devoted herself to her family and her communities. Kaye was a member of the Eastern Star and was always involved with her children’s organizations and activities. She received numerous Volunteer Service Awards including the Lions highest honours – Helen Keller Fellowship and the Melvin Jones Fellowship. Her life long efforts were recognized as she was the recipient of the Queen Elizabeth ll Diamond Jubilee Medal. Her passion, love and sense of humour will be missed. Déry, Steve Const. – Passed away tragically in the line of duty, on March 2nd, 2013 at the age of 27. Loving son of Gilles and Céline. Dear brother of Mathieu and Benoit (Joelle Martin), best friend and life partner of Amanda Tukirqi. Steve will be greatly missed by his grandparents André and Gilberte Déry, his uncles, aunts, cousins, colleagues and friends. GINN - obitpicPeacefully at his home, on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, David Lloyd Ginn passed away following a brief illness.  David was the devoted and loving husband of Sheila and always proud father of; Carrie Ginn of Ottawa and Clark Ginn and his girlfriend Tara Congram of Toronto.  Cherished son of Mrs. Madge Ginn of Hamilton.  Dearly loved brother of; Wayne and Susan Ginn, Lois and Richard Tarbutt, and Brenda Ginn, all of Hamilton, brother-in-law of; Helen Johnstone of Oakville, Colleen Macdonald of Stoney Creek and nephew of; Zina Tilling. He was also much loved by his many nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues.  Predeceased by his father Norman Ginn, mother and father-in-law; Janette and Robert Macdonald, brother’s-in-law; Stanley Johnstone, Robert Macdonald and Michael Bryant, and many aunts and uncles.
David worked at TD Bank for 22 years, was property manager of Bingo Country for 13 years and a mortgage specialist at OMAC – Sarnia until his recent illness. In whatever position, he was known by colleagues and customers alike for his integrity, his dedication, and his particular fondness for helping others meet their goals. Indeed, wherever he went, he will always be remembered for his tremendous kindness, sense of humour, cheerfulness and the pleasure he took in taking care of others.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, March 1, 2013 at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia in the evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.  A memorial service will be held to remember David on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church 429 Indian Rd N, Sarnia with long time friend Rev. Roger Ellis officiating.  Cremation has taken place and a private interment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery at a later date.

Eileen Lippold jpg 001LIPPOLD, Mrs. Eileen Ethel (nee Katzenmeier), formerly of St. Thomas, passed away peacefully at Dufferin Oaks, Shelburne, ON on Sunday, February 17, 2013 in her 94th year.  Loving wife of the late John “Jack” Lippold (1993).  Devoted mother of Karen Lippold and her husband Steven Wolinetz of St. John’s, NL, Stephen Lippold of Vancouver, BC, Rodney Lippold and his wife Ute Karlson-Lippold of Burlington, and Pamela Caravaggio and her husband John of Shelburne.  Dear sister of Dorothy Rafferty and her husband Jim of Ottawa.  Also survived by 8 grandchildren: David and Michael Wolinetz, Celise and Stefan Lippold, Cohen and Kristin Lippold, and Cristina Barbour (nee Caravaggio) and Nicholas Caravaggio, 3 great granddaughters: Maia and Anna Wolinetz, and Stella Barbour, and several nieces and nephews.  Born in Toronto, ON, January 30, 1920, she was the daughter of the late William Henry (born Rodney, ON) and Ellen Elizabeth (nee Banks, born Paddington, London, England) Katzenmeier.  Eileen was a real estate agent in St. Thomas for many years.  She was a member of Grace United Church, St. Thomas and a former active community volunteer with a number of organizations.  In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate Eileen’s life will be held at St. Mark’s United Church, 38 Aldborough Ave., St. Thomas on Saturday, February 23rd at 1:30 p.m.  Reception to follow.  Relatives and friends will be received by the family from 12:30 p.m. until the service time.  If desired, memorial donations to the charity of one’s choice will be appreciated.  Arrangements entrusted to the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160).

Phyllis Parent.  Dear father of Dan (Tracey) of Athens and Kerri Hurman (Brett) of New Zealand and step father of Sharron Grant (Larry) and John Stitt (Wendy) of Brockville.  Cherished grandfather of Rachel Leroux of Brampton, Amber Hawley (Archie) of Brockville, McKenzie McCrady, Danika Hurman and Taine Hurman all of New Zealand and the late Amanda Tristram and great grandfather of Hannah Patterson.  Dear brother of Jeffrey (Dorothy), Gary (Sharron) and Beverley Black, and brother-in-law of Rita Clark, Pat Grant, Cecile Lawler, Charlie Parent and the late Bernard Parent.  He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.
