FRANCIS, Helen Gwendolyn, of Belleville, passed away at McQuigge Lodge Nursing Home on Sunday, May 19th, in her 94th year. Daughter of the late Mildred and Alexander Bell, of Pembroke. Beloved wife of the Late Stanley Francis. Dear mother of John (Judith), of Whitby, and Judy (Ron) Murphy, of Roslin.  Predeceased by one daughter Ruth Boyce, and by one grandson, Robert Boyce. Loving grandmother of Jessica, Kallie, Charles, James and Elizabeth.

As per Helen’s wishes, she has been cremated, and her cremains will be interred at St. Luke’s Cemetery, Stirling.

Campbell, Wanda – peacefully, surrounded by her family, at QHC – Belleville General Hospital on Sunday, May 5, 2013 in her 71st year.  Daughter of the late Albert and Jeannette McCron.  Beloved wife of Roger Campbell of Belleville.  Loving mother of Wendy (Vincent) Peccitto of Las Vegas, Deborah (Philip) Blandin of Nova Scotia, Georgina (Patrick) Trites of Carvel, AB and Michael (Jay) Arthur of Colfax, IN.  Wanda is remembered by her grandchildren; Robert, Crystal, Michael, Jim, Heather, Holly, Patrick, David, Kayla, and Peyton and by her great grandchildren; Jalen, Cole, Jayla Rain, Joshua and Leland.  Dear sister of; Hope McCron (Charles Appelbe), Rene (Carol) McCron, Pamela (Victor) Yountz, Julia (Dennis) Hare, all of the Parry Sound area, Randolph (Robyn) McCron, Gregory (Cara) McCron and Miles (Carrie) McCron.  Predeceased by her sister Dawn Dunkley and by her brother Malcolm McCron.  She is fondly remembered by several nieces, nephews and extended family.

Brintnell, Ruth Lillian – on Saturday, April 13, 2013 in her 92 year.  Daughter of the late Charles and Lillie Brintnell formerly of Plainfield.  Ruth is survived by her brothers, Harold Brintnell of Madoc and Joseph (Barbara) Brintnell of Ottawa. She is predeceased by her sisters-in-law, Ruby and Kathleen Brintnell.  Ruth is fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews; Leigh Brintnell of Madoc, Lesley Ann (Gene) McCambridge of Barry’s Bay, Larry (Karen) Brintnell of Batawa, Susan (Vince) Palermo of Port Perry, Vince (Karen) Brintnell of Stirling and great nieces and nephews; Charlie, Tom, Kiara, Justin, Kari, Leigh, Eric, Tara-Kay, Amelia and Logan. Ruth retired from teaching at Albert College in 1976 after nearly 20 years of service. She then took her skills to the Belleville Corby Library, Reference Department until 1987 where she also ran the Visiting Library for Shut-ins.  She was a longtime volunteer with St. John Ambulance and in 1976 was invested to the Order of St. John as Serving Sister with a lifetime rank as Officer Sister. 

A Memorial Service celebrating Ruth’s life will be held at the Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, 30 Moira Street West (613-968-2273) on Saturday, May 4th, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation from 11:30 until the time of service.  Inurnment at Foxboro Cemetery.

Hinderle, Elizabeth – of Quinte Gardens and formerly of Lemoine Street, peacefully at Belleville General Hospital on Wednesday, April 17th, 2013. Daughter of the late Josef and Katharina Gottstein of Germany. Predeceased by her two brothers, Anton and Eugene. Survived by Wilf (Lynn) of Toronto, Gunter (Deanna) of Aldergrove, BC, Bianca (Randy) Brown of Foxboro and Terry (Annette) of Surrey, BC. Proud grandmother of; Joel, Danna (Bryan) Hinderle, Alex (Angie) and Graeme (Monika) Brown, Lindsay (Paul) Fyke and Melissa and Darren Hinderle. Doting great-grandmother (Oma) of Jordan, Noah and Caleb Hinderle, Alexander and Christopher Brown, Hunter, Andrew and Ryan Fyke, and William Brown.

At Elizabeth’s request there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place and there will be a family interment at Elmwood Cemetery at a later date. Elizabeth’s family would like to thank; her Parkdale neighbours for their years of support, the Smile program and Community Care Services, the staff at Quinte Gardens and Doctors Knarr and Smith and the tremendous nursing staff of BGH Level 4.

Synopsis: Janice Margaret Featherston was born June 30, 1949 into a military family and spent her early years on her grandparents’ farm while her father served his country in Korea. Following his return from the war, the family led a typical military nomad life with postings in Petawawa, Winnipeg and Ottawa among others. She became the typical ‘Army Brat’ and maintained the ‘Brat’ part well beyond the early years.

Following her graduation from Woodroffe High in Ottawa (’68), Jan attended the University of Western Ontario where she was granted a Bachelor of Music, Honors in Music Education (’72) and a Diploma in Education, Post Baccalaureate Program, Althouse College (’73). Armed with her unstoppable desire to teach High School music, Jan responded to a note on the bulletin board at Althouse and soon became one of the founding faculty of what has become the world-renowned Music Industry Arts program at Fanshawe College. During her tenure, she touched the lives of the vast majority of the students that passed through the halls, many of whom have gone on to be some of the most creative and influential leaders of the international music industry.

Jan was principled woman who wasn’t afraid to stand up for what she believed and did so regularly with an amazing combination of tenacity and compassion. She was true leader whose greatest joy was watching others grow and flower, a real scrapper; who won every battle she took on, except one. The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Borrie and the team at the Aging Brain and Memory Clinic at Parkwood Hospital, Betsy Little and everyone at the Alzheimer Society London and Middlesex, and all the staffs at both Horizon Place Retirement Residence and McGarrell Place Long Term Care for all their compassionate and professional support throughout this ordeal.

A remembrance will be held at the Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London Ontario between 7:00 and 9:00 PM on Friday April 12. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer Society London & Middlesex www.alzheimerlondon.ca.

Unexpectedly at his residence on Monday, March 11, 2013 in his 65th year.  John McDonald, cherished father of John Jr. and his wife Yvonne & Sandi McDonald-Sizer.  Fondly remembered by his grandchildren Yvette, Brooke, Johnny, Aaron & Brandon.  John will be sadly missed by his trusty canine Brandy.  The family will receive friends at the PAUL G. PAYNE FUNERAL HOME, Main St., Odessa 613-386-7373 on Thursday from 11am until service time at 1pm with Rev. E. CORNWALL, Sheila Marie of Colborne

Sheila was called into the presence of her Lord and Saviour on Sunday, March 10th, 2013 in her seventy-third year.  She was the only daughter of Clifford and Berenice Cornwall (predeceased) of Colborne, Ontario.  She is survived by her aunt, Mrs. Joan Goodall, and many special cousins.  Sincere thanks to the Northumberland Hills Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, for their compassionate care during her final days.  A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 16th, at 11 am in the Fellowship Baptist Church, 469 Elgin St. W. Jones, John Clarence – at QHC-Trenton Memorial Hospital on Monday, March 11, 2013 in his 85th year.  Son of the late Samuel and Amanda Jones.  Beloved husband of Betty Jones (nee Tanney).  Loving father of Ronald (Ruth) Jones, Pamela Johnson, Barbara Filby and step-father of Ted (Ann) Schwager, Michael (Sandy) Schwager, Nancy Schwager, Susan Schwager, John (Barb) Schwager and Glen Schwager.  He is fondly remembered by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.  John is survived by his sister, Grace Murray and sister-in-law Lois Jones. He is predeceased by his son John Jones and by brother, Bruce Jones and his sisters Amanda Robinson and Lydia Robinson.

Callaghan, Dorothy, at QHC-Belleville General Hospital on Thursday, March 7, 2013 in her 89th year.  Beloved wife of the late John Patrick Callaghan.  Loving mother of Carol (Doug) Scrimshaw, Jackie (David) Bunnett, Michael (Barb) Callaghan and Tom Callaghan.  She will be sadly missed by her 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.  Dear sister of William Forgie, Gord (Jenny) Forgie and Jo-Anne (Ernie) Newman.  Dorothy is predeceased by her parents, Andrew & Margaret (Robson) Forgie and by her brothers Norman Forgie and Ronald Chapman.

A Memorial Service celebrating Mary’s life will be held at St. Mark’s United Church, Cannifton on Saturday, March 16th at 1:00 p.m.  Reception to follow in the Church Hall.  Private Inurnment at Elmwood Cemetery.

Déry, Steve Const. – Passed away tragically in the line of duty, on March 2nd, 2013 at the age of 27. Loving son of Gilles and Céline. Dear brother of Mathieu and Benoit (Joelle Martin), best friend and life partner of Amanda Tukirqi. Steve will be greatly missed by his grandparents André and Gilberte Déry, his uncles, aunts, cousins, colleagues and friends.
