A long time resident of the Chatham area, John Henry Oostveen died at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Sydenham Campus on Monday May 20, 2013 at the age of 64.  Born in Maartensdyk in The Netherlands on July 11, 1948, son of the late John & Gerarda Oostveen.  Beloved husband of Anne (Murphy) Oostveen.  Loving father of John Oostveen, Megan Oostveen (Ryan Lackey), Thomas Oostveen, and Jaclyn Oostveen.  Proud grandfather of Dawson and Aria Lackey.  Dear brother of Henry Oostveen, Maria Romaschin (Alex), Robert Oostveen (Joanne), and the late Anita Balango, Theresa Hornick, and Frank Oostveen.  He will be fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews.  John was employed as a Civil Engineer for many years with the City of Chatham and Chatham-Kent, and more recently with Cole Engineering in Markham.  Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Friday from 6:00-9:00 p.m.  Funeral Service at the Funeral Home on Saturday May 25, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Krug, BruceBruce Arthur Krug of Chesley, passed away at Elgin Abbey, Chesley on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 in his 95th year.

 

Beloved son of the late Christian and Mary (Hauser) Krug. Bruce was the last surviving member of his family and was predeceased by his sisters Lily (Alfred) Siegrist, Florence (Ralph) Gibson and brothers, Wilfred, Russell, Howard and Reverend Crossley. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces, Nancy (Tom) Thomson of Hawkstone, Sally Lee Dyke of Florida and Mary Ndlovu of Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, South Africa. He is survived by nephew Jim (Karen) Siegrist of Chesley and Trix Krug of Toronto.

 

Visitation will be held at Rhody Family Funeral Home, Chesley on Friday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. where a funeral service celebrating Bruce’s life will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 11 a.m. Interment in Chesley Cemetery.

BERRY, Herbert Alfred of Cobourg, Ontario

Peacefully, at Northumberland Hills Hospital in Cobourg, Ontario, Herb died in his 96th year.  Beloved father of Jane Gutteridge (Barry) and Margaret Creighton (Paul), he was the proud grandfather of David Gutteridge, Michael Whitehouse and Steven Whitehouse (Aynsley) and great-grandfather of Paige Whitehouse.  Born in Toronto, Herb served in the Canadian Army during WWII in England where he met his future wife Phyllis Louise (nee Adams) who predeceased him in 1998.  Also predeceased by his brother Albert, his sisters Mary Grey and Maud, he is survived by his brother Jack and his sisters Lucy Craig, Violet Davis and Millie Pilote.  A long-time employee of the Department of Social Services of the City of Toronto, Herb retired in 1980.  He spent most of his last decade living in Cobourg, overlooking the lake he loved.  Almost three years ago, he decided it was time to move to a retirement home where he soon settled happily.  We will miss his passion for art and nature, his vitality and his wild sense of humour, and are thankful for all he taught us.  Our family is very grateful to Dr. Essak and the staff of both the Northumberland Hills Hospital and Rosewood Estates for their kindness, care and compassion.  Cremation has taken place.  There will be no funeral, as Herb wished.  His favourite charity was the Heart and Stroke Foundation.  Online condolences may be made through www.MacCoubrey.com.

FRANCIS, Helen Gwendolyn, of Belleville, passed away at McQuigge Lodge Nursing Home on Sunday, May 19th, in her 94th year. Daughter of the late Mildred and Alexander Bell, of Pembroke. Beloved wife of the Late Stanley Francis. Dear mother of John (Judith), of Whitby, and Judy (Ron) Murphy, of Roslin.  Predeceased by one daughter Ruth Boyce, and by one grandson, Robert Boyce. Loving grandmother of Jessica, Kallie, Charles, James and Elizabeth.

As per Helen’s wishes, she has been cremated, and her cremains will be interred at St. Luke’s Cemetery, Stirling.

Elle laisse dans le deuil sa fille adorée Ménaïc Küffer, son conjoint Derek Küffer, sa mère Doris Bernier (feu Nelson Bernier). Elle laisse également dans le deuil de nombreux parents et ami(e)s au Canada et en Suisse. Jane is survived by her husband Angus MacDonald, son Paul (Mira) of Etobicoke, daughters Sandra MacDonald and Tanya Speight both of Toronto. Carrod TimSuddenly passed away with his family at his side.  Beloved husband of Patty Manton.  Loving son of Gloria Carrod and son-in-law of Diane and Thurlow Cross.  Grandson of the late Maurice and Sadie Chatterson.  Sadly missed by aunt Donna and cousin Shawn. Peacefully at his residence, Elgin on Saturday May 11, 2013. Paul Yurkowsky, in his 86th year. Beloved husband of the late Ida Rogerson. Dear father of Patty Gordanier and Penny (Barry) Haskin of Elgin.
