Krug, BruceBruce Arthur Krug of Chesley, passed away at Elgin Abbey, Chesley on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 in his 95th year.

 

Beloved son of the late Christian and Mary (Hauser) Krug. Bruce was the last surviving member of his family and was predeceased by his sisters Lily (Alfred) Siegrist, Florence (Ralph) Gibson and brothers, Wilfred, Russell, Howard and Reverend Crossley. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces, Nancy (Tom) Thomson of Hawkstone, Sally Lee Dyke of Florida and Mary Ndlovu of Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, South Africa. He is survived by nephew Jim (Karen) Siegrist of Chesley and Trix Krug of Toronto.

 

Visitation will be held at Rhody Family Funeral Home, Chesley on Friday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. where a funeral service celebrating Bruce’s life will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 11 a.m. Interment in Chesley Cemetery.

Valerie in her 77th year, a retired Bell Canada Employee of 37 ½ years, and a long time member of Unit 365, A.N.A.F. Club, Barrie. Beloved daughter of the late Robert H. and Rosella K. (Galbraith) Weatherill and beloved sister of the late Dale and Lance. Survived by sisters Vaughan Shapton (Don) of Niagara Falls, Pat Clayden, Lyn (VanValkenburg) (Peter Elliot) of Barrie, Mike Breau (Chris) of Orillia and brother Robin Weatherill (Donna) of Angus. Devoted and loving mother of Kenneth & Patrick Keogh and Sherrie Gardiner (Barrow) of Barrie and grandmother of Ashley and Amanda Cass, Megan and James Keogh, and of the late Kori Gardiner. Cotter, CarolCarol Ann Cotter of R.R. #3 Chesley, passed away surrounded by the love of her family at Hanover & District Hospital on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 in her 65th year.

 

United in marriage on May 22, 1971, she leaves to mourn her beloved husband Bernard. Loving mother of Nancy (Greg) Kuhl of Port Elgin, Michael (Kathy) of Hanover, Tim (Melissa) of Guelph and Steve of Walkerton. Cherished grandmother of Jamie, Carly, Linda and Lily. Carol will be sadly missed by her siblings Don (Marion) McAllister of R.R. #3 Chesley, John McAllister of Chesley, Linda (Bill) Tiffin of Orillia, Sandy (Brenda) McAllister of R.R. #3 Chesley and Gayle (James) Toyne of Sarnia. She will be fondly remembered by her father-in-law Harold Cotter of Chesley. Carol was predeceased by a brother in infancy and her parents, Neil and Irene (Keith) McAllister.

Brigham, Bruce Goldwin of Barrie, Ontario

BrighamBRIGHAM, Bruce Goldwin – will not be watching his beloved Leafs, Colts or Blue Jays anymore.  He passed away peacefully at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in his 82nd year on Tuesday 7 May 2013 with family at his side.  The thoughtful and attentive care he received from all staff was truly inspiring and amongst many things, made him truly a proud Canadian.  BG was born 4 November 1931 on his grandfather’s farm near Hanover, ON.  He was predeceased by his parents Harry and Rita (Bailey) and had lived in Barrie since 1957.  He will be celebrated and fondly remembered by his loving wife of 54 years Betty (Mitchell) his sons Mark (Anne) and Dean (Leanora), his grandchildren Tony, Keltie and Jessica and a vast array of friends and colleagues.  We will formally celebrate his life at Northwest Barrie United Church (464 Ferndale Dr.) on Sunday 12 May 2013 beginning with a visitation at 1 pm, a service at 3 pm and a reception afterwards.  For those interested in making an expression of sympathy in lieu of a first round draft choice; donations to The Parkinson’s Society or The Piano Fund at Northwest Barrie United Church would make Bruce happy.   Messages of condolence may be forwarded to the family through www.marshallwdrivercremationandburialservice.ca

CROCKFORD - photo croppedPeacefully on April 26, 2013 at 11:30 p.m. at Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket, Dennis Crockford passed away 9 days before his 90th birthday.  Beloved husband of Florence Dorothy Crockford (nee Campbell), who continues to live in Aurora, ON. Loving father of Carolyn Diane Dewulf and the late Gregory Creighton Crockford. Cherished grandfather of Christine, David and Shaun Dewulf; and Daniel, Chester, and Chelsea Crockford. Great Grandfather to Avery and Austin Maile; and Alexis and Lia Dewulf. Survived by nieces Mary and Jeanette and nephew Godfrey in England. Brother-in-law to Bruce, Evelyn and Rebecca Campbell and other relatives. Predeceased by sisters Doreen Bristow and Ada Ashley.
Dennis served in the RAF and was a member of the Air Force Association in Bomber Command in Sarnia. Dennis was the President and founder of the Sarnia Historical Museum with the help of many friends in Sarnia. Every Remembrance Day, Dennis was a presenter at all the High Schools in Sarnia for which he received commendation.
The family will be receiving friends from 1:00 to 2:00p.m. on Sunday, May 5, 2013, with a celebration of life to follow at 2:00 p.m. at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, to honor Dennis on his birthday. Cremation has taken place. Interment will take place on Monday, May 6, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. at Blackwell Cemetery, 1835 Blackwell Rd., Sarnia.  In lieu of flowers, sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Sarnia and District Humane Society (cheques only at the funeral home please).  smithfuneralhome.ca

Earle, Oscar Harold, of Barrie, ON

EarleOscar Harold Earle passed away peacefully in the wee hours of the morning on April 26th, 2013. He was 86 years old and passed on in the comfort of his home at Leisure World in Barrie, Ontario.
Os, as his friends called him, learned early the value of hard work, and worked just that way his entire life; to provide for his family. He enlisted in the army during the World War II. His love for his country was evident by his desire to serve.
On September 29, 1951 Os married the love of his life, Jean Vivian Mary Roberts. Together they worked side by side in developing a mobile home park and campground/resort known today as Hoe Doe Valley. Some of the activities offered at the park were pony rides, cart and hay rides, tubing, swimming, skating, fishing, and the catering of winter parties. Os had a passion for his valley, and was happiest when he had children to share it with. Together, Os and Jean raised four children and took on several extra whenever they came across a child in need. Os was dedicated to his family and was a loving husband and father who was dearly loved in return.
Os will be sadly missed by his wife Jean, sister Marie, and children: Hal, Kathy, Dan (Dawn), Darcy and their respective partners, as well as Linda, who was loved like a daughter. Also his grandchildren: Sarah, Nick, Emma, Zack, Hannah, Josh, Amber, Tyler, Ryan, Sharalee and Daniel, and by five great-grandchildren.

Gysel, Dwight Edward – 54, of Barrie, Ontario and formerly of North Bay, Ontario passed away at the Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket, Ont. on Saturday, April 20, 2013. Predeceased by his parents Morris (Nick) and Doreen (nee Bush) and his brother Rick. Dwight is survived by his three sons Taylor, Nicholas (Nick) and Ryan and his eldest brother Brian. Interment will take place at the Angus Union Cemetery, Angus, Ontario following a private family service in May.

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that Rachael’s family announces her passing on Monday, April 29, 2013 in her 28th year.  Cherished daughter of John Close and Brenda Sutherland and much loved sister of Joshua (Danielle) Close of Manhatten, New York and Jeremiah (Cassie Kipfer) Close of St. Mary’s.  Granddaughter of Rhoda Sutherland (Don Tew) of Owen Sound.  Aunt of Ellison Close, Andrea Carter and Callen Close.  She will be very sadly missed by her second Mom Judy Larkin of Red Bay and was a special sister of Heather Galoska (Noel Dyer) of Guelph, David (Claire) Galoska of Calgary, Alberta and Gregory Galoska (Jessica Hammond) of Toronto.  Many aunts, uncles and cousins will forever cherish her memory.

BAKER: Marshall Almer Henry of Clearview Township

Baker0001 (2)Marshall was promoted to heaven on Saturday April 27, 2013 at the General and Marine Hospital, Collingwood following a tragic accident on April 5th. He was in his 88thyear.  Marshall was the beloved husband of Dorothy (nee Livingstone) for over 62 years.  Loving father of Marsha and her husband Tennyson Sider and Lamar Baker.  Cherished grampa of Rhonda (Bryan McGowan), Reneé (Ron Kievit), Joleen (Bruce Brubaker) and Marleen (David Geiger).  Dear grampa great of Scott and Michael McGowan, Kyla, Tessa and Sierra Kievit, Brooklyn, Jaden and Trenton Brubaker and Ephraim and Josiah Geiger.  Dear brother of the late Lila (the late Robert Osburn and the late Alvin Burkholder), the late Orville (Kay) Baker and the late Lois (Lorne (Elda) Ruegg).  Marshall will also be missed by his church family, other relatives and friends. Marshall had a full and interesting life. Born on the 6th line of Nottawasaga, he had a conversion experience en route home alone from school when he was 8 years old. He was baptized and joined the Brethren In Christ denomination which his family were members and his father was a pastor.  After his marriage to Dorothy, they farmed a few years till the church invited him to move to Delisle, Saskatchewan to pastor a small congregation in a rural school house. He helped to build two churches during his 10 years of ministry in Saskatchewan. He had many jobs while pastoring but teaching Driver’s Education to teenagers was a favourite.  Marshall returned to farm life until a fire took the barn and livestock.  He also worked at L.O.F. Glass Plant until retiring at 70. Not content with retirement, he worked security shifts at several locations.  At the New Life congregation, he was known by all as the Candy Man and would love to shake your hand and hang up your coat.  Marshall was a man of great love and faith – for his family and for God.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.  Friends will be received at the New Life Church, 28 Tracey Lane, Collingwood ( at Hwy 124) on Wednesday May 1, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.  Funeral Service will be held at the Stayner Brethren In Christ Church, 1152 Sixth Line North, Clearview Township ( North of County Road 91) on Thursday May 2, 2013 at 1 o’clock.  Interment Brethren in Christ Churchyard Cemetery.  If desired, remembrances to the Gideon’s or the New Life BIC Church would be appreciated by Marshall’s family.  Arrangements under the direction of the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home (705-428-2637).  For further information and to sign the Book of Memories, log on to   www.carruthersdavidson.com
