Szarzynski, Alex – Passed away at his residence, on Wednesday, June 20, 2018. Alex Szarzynski of Woodstock was in his 70th year. Beloved son of the late Mike and Sofia Szarzynski. Dear brother of Zibby (Nancy), Alfred (Sandra), and Anita (Dave LaHive). Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Alvin Ludington – of Listowel, passed away surrounded by his family at University Hospital, London on Wednesday June 20, 2018 at the age of 80. Alvin was a member of Calvary United Church, Listowel.  He enjoyed hunting, playing cards and watching his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs.  Alvin was always ready to help anyone and will be remembered as the flower delivery man for Zehr’s Florist.

Beloved husband of Judy (Smith) Ludington whom he married in 1964.  Loving father of Brian (Sharon), Bonita, Brent (Denise) and Brad.  Special grandpa of Alec, Lindsay, Simon and Sophie.  Dear brother of Eric (Carole), Ross (Margaret), Gordon (Barb) and Doris Harrow (Jim).  Fondly remembered by brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Elaine Pestell, David Smith (Janet) and by many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents Ken and Laura (Harrison) Ludington, granddaughter Victoria (in infancy), brothers Keith (in infancy), Fred and wife Audrey, sister-in-law Pauline Ludington, nephew Paul Ludington and brother-in-law Rae Pestell.

Died suddenly on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at the General & Marine Hospital, Collingwood at the age of 81. George of Stayner, beloved husband of Joan (née Short) for almost 50 years. Loving father of Duane McNabb and Arlene McNabb. Dear brother of Donald and his wife Donna and brother-in-law of Pauline Hughes. George will also be missed by his nieces and nephews and their families – Scott McNabb (the late Sherry), Laura (Tom Macham), Kevin Hughes and Leanne (Vern Shears). George was a lifelong farmer on the town line and a lifelong member of Jubilee Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed playing music with his piano and accordion and sang in the church choir for many years. He was a strong and gentle man and he will be deeply missed. Dear grandmother of 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents Ernest and Laura Grimley. Loving sister to Dorothy, Elaine and Muriel (predeceased). Ruth was a much loved relative to her many cousins, nieces and nephews and a great friend to all. She will be remembered for her love of bingo, the casino and playing cards. Her energy and presence will be extremely missed by all those whose lives she touched.

Morris, of St. Thomas, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 20, 2018, in his 89th year.  Beloved husband for 65 years to Hazel (née Fry) Broughton.  Dearly loved father of Richard (Julie), Brenda Marshall (late Wayne), Paul (Carol), Brian (Sue), and Mark (Tammy).  Cherished grandfather of Greg (Miranda), Chad, Kris (Chandi), Matthew (Randi), Joshua (Keli), Natalie (Matthew), Jarod (Meredith), Melissa (Ray), Michael (Lisa), Danielle (Derek), and Shannon (Alex).  Also survived by 15 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.  He was the brother of the late William.  Born in Fort Frances, ON, March 12, 1930, son of the late Rev. Oliver E. and Marion (née Smith) Broughton.  As his father was a Baptist minister, Morris lived in a number of communities in Ontario while growing up.  He and Hazel came to St. Thomas in 1957.  Morris was a former longtime manager of Ostranders Jewellers, St. Thomas.  He was an active member of Centre Street Baptist Church, where he was a former trustee.  A trombonist, Morris played in a number of bands over the years.  Relatives and friends will be received by the family at the SIFTON FUNERAL HOME, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Tuesday evening, July 3rd from 7:00-9:00 p.m.  The funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at Centre Street Baptist Church, 28 Southwick St., St. Thomas on Wednesday, July 4th at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception in the church.  Following cremation, private interment will be made in Elmdale Memorial Park.  Memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario or Centre Street Baptist Church will be gratefully acknowledged.

Obituary of ZACHER, Kaspar of Cobourg, Ontario

Passed away peacefully at Northumberland Hills Hospital at the age of 89. Beloved husband of the late Centa Zacher (nee Sesar). He is predeceased by his three siblings.  Survived by nephew, Helmut and niece Maria, both in Germany.

Kaspar was born in Germany in 1929 and came to Canada in 1953, settling in Cobourg.  He loved the outdoors and was a very active skier and tennis player/instructor throughout his lifetime.  He was a skiing instructor at Brimacombe into his 80’s. Kaspar’s architectural stamp is on a number of properties in Cobourg and beyond.  He designed buildings such as Best Western Hotel, Grant Sine School and many car dealerships here in Cobourg.

With heavy hearts the family of the late Shirley Gregory announce her passing on Monday, June 18th, 2018 with her daughters and family by her side. Shirley was in her 68th year and bravely fought for each breath of air as her COPD disease progressively worsened. Shirley is the proud mother of Kimberley Mendonca (Sherri), Sharlene Ruiz (Frank), and Tanya Thuss. She is the much loved grandmother of Joshua Mendonca, Matthew, Natalia, and Maya Ruiz. Predeceased by her late husband Paul Gregory (1999), father Levi Wesley Case (1966), sister Donna Jean Gregson (2002) and brother Lorne Oscar Case (2008). Also predeceased by her brothers-in-law Fred Fonger (1972) and George Skinner (2016). Survived by her mother Jean Hailstone (94 years of age), sisters Mary Anne Skinner and Ruth Huston (Mike) as well as many nieces and nephews. Shirley will be greatly missed by her gentleman friend, Len Stewart and fondly remembered by Sherry Wight and the father of her children Jerry Thuss and his wife Darlene. Shirley held many jobs in her working life. She was a partner at Grandma’s Kitchen Restaurant in Strathroy in the 70’s,  waitressed for many years at the Black Angus Restaurant, attended Humber College in Toronto as a mature student to become a Registered Practical Nurse. Once licensed, she practised nursing at several nursing homes, with more than one in-home nursing service and most notably, at Parkwood Hospital in London until her retirement years. A Celebration of life will be held on Sunday, June 24th, 2018 at the Strathroy Senior’s Centre from 1:00p.m. until the time of service at 3:00p.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice, Parkwood Hospital or Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital. Fulton; Mary
Passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family at the age of 87. Mary of Wasaga Beach, beloved wife of the late James Reid Fulton (1979). Loving mother of William Fulton and Joyce (Herb) Bethune. Mary was a caring grandmother to all her grandchildren, dear sister of John McDade, Sheila Fitkin, Margaret McDade, Michael McDade and Jean Donnelly. Predeceased by her parents Peter McDade and Susan Breen, her two brothers Patrick, Peter McDade and her sister Annie Jarvie. Mary will also be missed by many nieces and nephews in Canada and Scotland. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten. Friends will be received at the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home – Wasaga Beach Chapel, 509 River Road West, Wasaga Beach on Friday, June 22, 2018, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.. Funeral Service to be held in the Chapel on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 2 p.m. A private family interment will be held at a later date. Peacefully surrounded by his family in London, on Sunday, June 17, 2018, Ethan Scott in his 16th year. Loving son of Robin “Nikki” (Gosnell) Scott (Shawn) and Chris Scott. Cherished brother of Madison and Morgan. Happy grandson of Joan and Allan Gosnell, Carolyn and Douglas Scott, great-grandson of Helen and Norman McEachran and Erlene Gosnell (the late Frank). Favourite nephew of Josh Gosnell and Mike Scott (Tanya), cousin Jessica and many other family members and friends. Will be sadly missed by furry companions Zeus and Lexi. Ethan was a happy, easy going, lovable ladies man who enjoyed hugs. Ethan enjoyed many activities including music, archery, sit skiing, horseback riding and most of all baseball. Thank you to everyone who contributed to Ethan’s life and helped him to reach his full potential. Friends will be received by the family from 2-4 and 7-9pm on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at the A. Brown, Alice Elizabeth (née Patton)

Died suddenly on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket in her 80th year.  Alice of Stayner, beloved wife of Keith Brown for 49 years.  Loving mother of Lynn (Clay Moffat) of Carlyle, Saskatchewan, Rob (Trudy) Brown of Tomahawk, Alberta, James (Erick) Brown of Toronto and Heather (Brent Trott) of Stayner.  Cherished grandmother of Steven (Jaclyn), Sherri (Patrick), Brittany (Dan), Katelyn (Dustin), Jessica, Jason (Natasha), Jessica (Rob), Heather, Melissa (Shane), Willie (Nicole), Andrew and Callahan and to 21 great grandchildren.  Dear sister of Bill Patton of Stayner and sister-in-law of Shirley (the late Bruce George) of Delhi.  Alice is predeceased by her husband Bud Gillette and her parents Roy (Elsie) Patton and Melba (Tom Bradley).    Alice was a kind and nurturing woman who always put her family first.  She was a lifelong volunteer with many community organizations in particular her church, Centennial United and the Red Cross blood donor clinics.  She loved to knit, bake, cook and garden.  She will be dearly missed by her many friends including those in Lakeland, Florida where they wintered for over 25 years.  Friends will be received at Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home – Stayner Chapel on Monday, June 18, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The ceremony to celebrate Alice’s life will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Centennial United Church at 1 p.m.  Reception to follow.  If desired, a donation to Diabetes Canada or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by her family.  For further information and to sign her Book of Memories, please visit www.carruthersdavidson.com

Died peacefully on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Campbell House Hospice, Collingwood surrounded by her loving family at the age of 39.  Petrina of Wasaga Beach, beloved wife of Lee Cannon.  Loving and devoted mother of Seth, Caleb, Christian, Sara, Abigail and Meghan.  Dear daughter of Lynda and the late James Roller.  Dear sister of Doug (Linda), John (Cindy), Deb (Gerry), Christine (Stephen) and Leanne.
