Bill and his five sisters grew up in Chatham, Ontario. After high school he trained in the Royal Canadian Air force, obtaining the rank of Sargent as a navigator. He was stationed in Coventry, England until the war ended. Upon returning home he began his photography career at “The Bill Dolomar Studio” and alongside his brother-in-law Albert at “Totter Photography.” Once established in Corunna many couples and their children had Bill photograph their weddings. He went on to work for Dow and Polymar in the late 90’s creating slide presentations for their market department. Bill was an avid gardener and loved nature. He and Mary’s home was a frequent stop on the garden tour and he was the proud recipient of the Trillium Award for Master Gardener in 1997. Mary Elizabeth Mann was the daughter of Frank and Zine Mann of Wallaceburg and the oldest of her siblings, four brothers and one sister. She attended W.D.S.S. then went on to nursing school at Chatham Public General Hospital from which she graduated with the class of 1946. Mary and Bill married in August of 1950 after which went on to work at St. Joseph’s hospital in Sarnia and retired in 1993. She was a familiar face around the hospital, first working in the Medication Department then onward to the Recovery Room.
