GOODFELLOW, Harry – It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Harry Goodfellow, age 91, of Sarnia. He passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospice on Friday, December 20, 2013, lovingly surrounded by his family. He is survived by his beloved wife Marlys, and his loving daughters Lynne (Paul) MacDonald, Kelly (John) Leaver, Justene (Larry) Phoenix and Joey (Glen) Harding; sons Drew Goodfellow and Kevin (Gail) Adamson. He will always be remembered as a very special “Bumpa” by all his grandchildren and great grandchildren,  Jeff Bustard, Becky, Skilar and Anson St. Pierre, Courtney McPhail, Jake, Aly, Josh and Joe Phoenix, Paige and Sarah Harding and Devin Easter, Tyler Adamson and Kerby (Luis) Pacheco. He is also survived by his dear little sister Vera (Karl) Janssen, Sisters-in-law Doreen (Ivan) Battista, Bonnie Cammidge and brother-in-law Bill (Gloria) Morgan, as well as many nieces and nephews.  Harry will also be sadly missed by his dear friend, Rick Birmingham, who was like a brother to him.

Harry is predeceased by his loving wife of 33 years, Mary Louise and their dear son, Richard, also by five wonderful brothers, Robert, Stanley, Jack, Tommy, and Raymond as well as three beautiful sisters, Joan, Margaret and Emily, as well as sisters-in-law Georgia and Phyllis. Harry was a long time resident of Corunna/Sarnia and President of Dallas Haul Inc. He was also a member of Tuscan 437 and Mocha Temple. 

A Memorial service will take place on Sunday January 5, 2014 at 2:00 pm at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Sarnia, with the Rev. John Cruickshank and the Rev. Lloyd Murdock officiating. Visitation at D.J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 102 N. Victoria Street, Sarnia, on Saturday January 4, 2014 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm. RichardPeacefully at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital, on Friday, December 20, 2013, Richard Buckenham of Glencoe, passed away at the age of 78.  Survived by his wife of 53 years, Marion (Jones) Buckenham and his 3 children, Brent (Lori) of Carseland, AB, Brenda Lewis (Kenn) of Strathroy, and Brad (Terra) of Kitchener.  Loved by his grandchildren, Geoff and Robert Buckenham, Andrew Parsons, Kaley Lewis, Alexandra and Jorja Buckenham.  He was also grandfather and great grandfather to several extended family members.  Son of the late Russell and Mary (Leverton) Buckenham. He farmed in Zone Township during his younger adult life.  He served on the Zone Township Council and later became Reeve and clerk-treasurer.  He was a hockey fanatic and cheered for the Red Wings.  In 1974 he went to work at Fennell Lumber in Newbury and worked there until 1997 when he retired and moved to Glencoe in 1976.  Richard was involved with service clubs, church choir and served several years as treasurer of Trinity United Church in Glencoe until 2007 when he had to retire due to illness.  He had many life challenges including polio, Parkinson’s disease and finally cancer.  May he rest in peace.  Cremation has taken place.  Relatives and friends will be received at the Van Heck Funeral Home , 172 Symes St., Glencoe on Friday, December 27 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A private family interment will be held.  Memorial donations may be made to Trinity United Church, Glencoe or the charity of your choice. www.vanheckfuneralhome.ca

Ruth was known by all as a loving and caring person who gave of herself and always reached out in kindness to others. She was both wise and generous and will be missed by all. Bannon, Dorothy Margaret (nee Pocock) of Elgin Manor, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2013, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family, after a lengthy illness Dear wife of the late Joseph Bannon (1991). Dearly loved mother of Maureen and her husband, Ron McCormick of St. Thomas, Brian and his wife, Nadia of Kingsville, Peter and his wife, Jeni Peyton of Woodstock and Paul and his partner, Laurie Tune of Brantford. Proud grandmother of Lisa (Brian) Vanderveen, Tim (Kate Menear) McCormick, Sarah and Joseph Bannon, Chris Bannon and Katie (Pete) Clemens, and great-grandma of Nicole, Liam, Laura and Miranda Vanderveen, Sydney and Reese McCormick and Kyree and Alora Clemens. Margaret was the last surviving member of her family. She was predeceased by her sister Mary (Howard) Johnson, brothers  Cyril (Mildred), Ron (Ann), James, Basil (Helen) Pocock and infant sister Rose Mary. She is survived by her sister-in-law Theresa Bannon. She will be sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. She is also fondly remembered by her daughter-in-law Brenda LeSage Bannon and by her dear friend Kay Higgins. Margaret was born in London on June 17, 1917, the daughter of the late Gabriel and Agnes (McIntyre) Pocock. She was a member of St. Anne’s Church and a 60 year member of the Catholic Women’s League. Cossette, Wendy Erlene of St. Thomas, passed away peacefully, on Friday, December 20th, 2013, in her 61st year. Dearly loved wife and best friend of John and loved sister of William Lethbridge (Joan) of Talbotville, Douglas Lethbridge of Fingal and Mary Sue Glasier (Mike) of Chatham. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Wendy was born in St. Thomas on July 2, 1953, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Mildred (Metcalfe) Lethbridge. She was an avid gardener and baker and also enjoyed canning.

Lumley, Olive of Meadow Park Nursing Home, London and formerly of St. Thomas, passed away peacefully, on Friday, December 20th, 2013, at her late residence, in her 97th year. Beloved wife of the late Woodburn Lumley. Olive was born in Aylmer on April 13th, 1917, the youngest daughter of the late Alice (Godrey) and Henry Pineo. Olive graduated from Alma College and then graduated for the School of Nursing at Victoria Hospital, London. Olive was a supervisor at the St. Thomas Psychiatric Hospital and Valleyview Home. She was a member of Central United Church , the Alma College Alumnae, and a former member of the St. Thomas Curling Club and a charter member of the St. Thomas Little Theatre and past member of the Tonti Chapter of the I.O.D.E. She was great supporter of Animal Welfare. She enjoyed travelling throughout the world.  Predeceased by sisters Iris and Francis and brother Percy. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

LeGay, Ruth of St. Thomas and formerly of Sudbury, passed away on Thursday, December 19th, 2013, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, in her 79th year. Dearly loved wife and best friend of 57 years of Douglas Roy LeGay and loved mother of Deborah McDougall (Daniel) of Sudbury and the late David LeGay. Loved grandmother of Tara, Kyle, Corey, Zachary, Roxanne and Cortney. Dear sister of Doreen McNamara and Phyllis Prentis (Al) , both of Toronto and the late Lloyd Horton. Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Ruth was born in London, on February 17, 1935, the daughter of Marion Horton. She formerly lived in Sudbury from 1951-2001.

Austin, Gloria Faith of St. Thomas, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, December 19th, 2013, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, in her 84th year. Dearly loved wife of James “Jim” Austin and much loved mother of James “Jamie” Austin (Carmen), Shaun Austin (Linda), Brock Austin (Corrina), Joel Austin, and Paul Austin (Andrea). Dear sister of Rosemary Sanders (late Dick), Peter Gerster (Dell),  Paul Gerster (Barbara), James Gerster (Ti), Darryl Gerster (Carol), Melanie Stephens (Dave) and Sue Vary. Sadly missed by a number of grandchildren and nieces, nephews and friends. Gloria was born in Lindsay, Ontario on June 1, 1930, the daughter of the late Fred and Jeanne (Smith) Gerster. She lived in Toronto and Port Stanley and for the past 60 years in this area. Gloria was a real estate agent. She was a member of St. Anne’s Church, the Catholic Women’s League, volunteered many years for the Friends of the Library, St. Thomas. Gloria contributed to the “Daytripper”, with a number of short stories.

The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas on Sunday from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Prayers will follow at 4:00 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anne’s Church on Monday at 10:00 a.m. Cremation will follow, with private burial of ashes in Holy Angels’ Cemetery. Born in Blenheim, Bessie was the daughter of the late William and Jeannette (McKay) Braithwaite. Beloved wife of 70 years to Raeburn Mallory. Loving mother of Jan Mallory-Wood (Neil) of Blenheim, Mary Adair (Skip) of Blenheim and John Mallory (Catherine) of Chatham. Proud Nana to Michael Johnston (Melissa) of New Jersey, Jeffrey Johnston (Danica) of Houston, Andrew Johnston (Susana) of New Jersey, Sarah Eastman (Reid) of Michigan, and Jason Mallory (Jillian) of Chatham and Eric Mallory (Liana) of London. “G.G.Ma” to Lorne, Cash, Sawyer, Alexander, Sebastian, Chloe, Ashley, Harrison, Anderson and Rachel. Predeceased by her brother Leonard Braithwaite (2011) and her childhood sister Jean. Survived by her sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Braithwaite and Margaret Mallory.
