At Grey Bruce Health Centre, Owen Sound, Olive Marguerite Mehlfuhrer  (nee Williams) passed away Thurs. Nov. 21 in her 92nd year. Survived by husband Theodor of Owen Sound, son Steven of Eugenia, daughter Linda and son-in-law Mark of Hamilton, brother Henry Williams and sister-in-law Polly Clifford of St. John N.B., and cousins Jane (Wilf) MacPhee and Eloise (Cal) Murray of Nova Scotia. Predeceased by brothers Clair and Ritchie Williams. Olive was a thoughtful and loving mother and wife known in the community for her kindness. She was born in Annapolis Royal, N.S. where she worked as a telephone operator before moving to Ontario and later settling in Owen Sound. She loved doing landscape oil paintings, travelling and particularly enjoyed knitting bonnets that she donated to local hospitals for newborn babies. Burial has already taken place at Shiloh Cemetery in Chatsworth in keeping with her Baha’i faith. The family will receive friends at Fawcett Funeral Home, Flesherton on Saturday, December 7 from 2:00pm until the time of service at 3:00pm. Cherished father of Glenn and Susan Carroll, both of Hanover, Marie Carroll of Walkerton, Ryan Carroll and Teresa Carroll, both of Gooderham. Loving grandfather of Joe Harvie, Charlene Carroll, Brandon Carroll and Jessie Carroll and great-grandfather to Dustin, Brayden and Dylan. Joe will be fondly remembered by his sister Bernice Zang of Newmarket. Predeceased by Etta Carroll and his parents, Augustive and Mary (Cameron) Carroll.

 

Visitation will be held at the Klages Mill, Chesley (11 – 1st Ave. N.) on Friday, November 29, 2013 from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. Interment in Chesley Cemetery.

lassalineAt Bluewater Health, Sarnia on Tuesday, November 26, 2013.  BOB LASSALINE, 65 years, of Petrolia.   Bob will be missed by his beloved family; his wife of almost 40 years Shirley (nee McVicar), his daughters Sara and her husband Eduardo Saldana and Melissa Lassaline and her friend Nick Cornwall, and his grandson who was his pride and joy Isaiah Saldana.  Bob was the son of the late Frank and Clara Lassaline, and is survived by siblings Tom (Marg) Lassaline, Mary Anne (Wayne) Abell, Richard (Darlene) Lassaline, Paul (Debby) Lassaline, Helen (Lambert) Minten, and Gerry (Lisa) Lassaline.  He will also be missed by sister-in-law Marie (Alex) Szicsak and brother-in-law Carl (Heather) McVicar, and by many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.  A private interment of Bob’s cremated remains will be held at St. Matthew’s Cemetery in Alvinston.  A memorial open house celebrating Bob’s life will be held on Friday, November 29, 2013 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Oil Rig Restaurant, 415 Albany St., Petrolia.  As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to C.E.E. R. 1 Sparta.  He also enjoyed fishing. Lynn passed away suddenly on November 25th with her family by her side at University Hospital in London, Ontario. Lynn was a giving and loving person in her life and extended this in death by donating her organs. Lynn will be greatly missed by her children Brandon (Petra) and Faith (Brian). Parents Marian and Bruce Frieday of Dorset, Ontario. Siblings Richard (Gayle) Davis, Cynthia Davis, Patricia (Rob) Farnham, David (Janice) Frieday, Susan (Paul) Hilker, Patricia (Roger) Duval and Janet (Rob) Crowther. Nieces and nephews: Kelly and Kaitlyn Davis, Samantha Farnham, Jed and Levon Frieday, Shannon, Christopher and Trevor Hilker, Celine and Nicole Duval. Lynn was predeceased by her son, Dustin, her father Cyril R. Davis, and various Aunts and Uncles. Lynn will also be missed by her Bellamere Family. Franc passed aBednjicki, Franc edited Nov 26 2013way suddenly on Monday, November 25, 2013 doing what he loved, his morning walk.  After a recorded 20, 247 miles, he has gone to walk in greener pastures.

Born in Brezova Gora, in the former Yugoslavia, Franc was predeceased by his parents, three brothers, one sister and Nada Nickel (Yogi’s Mom).  Survived by daughter Yogi Bednjicki, her partner Mark Zarzycki, Bob,  Zivka, Andy and Alex Milosavljevic.  Also survived by two sisters from Slovenia, Marija Rošar and  Amalija Gabrovec and many nieces and nephews, especially niece Jasmina Rosar.

The many extended families that enriched his life include The Conestoga Mall Walkers, Tim Horton’s and Coffee Time companions who provided fun, humour and compassion on a daily basis.  Special thanks to Maria Weber, her children and grandchildren who brought him so much joy over the years.

Dad, how can mere words describe the special man you were?  You taught me all the big life lessons, were always there, a positive influence providing love, support, peace, comfort and of course a great joke.  My memories will include you laughing, smiling, and making the most of each day.  I will not be alone as I know you will always walk alongside me as my journey continues.  I will smile every time I see a bauble atop a car antenna blowing in the wind; I know this will be you waving to me from Heaven.  Till we meet again, all my love, Yogi.

DiCiccio, Sherryl Nov 26Sher passed away after a long battle with cancer at Grand River Hospital on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at the age of 58.

Loving mother of Jess, Laura, Paul and his wife Randelle. She is also remembered by her former husband, Vic DiCiccio.

Predeceased by her parents, Cyril and Catherine (Carruthers) Gambell.

Sher was Administrative Officer of the School of Computer Science at the University of Waterloo where her staff leadership role was very important to her. Her passion for art and music was the inspiration for her involvement in the development of the Waterloo Community Arts Centre where she was Executive Director for 15 years. Sher was also a dedicated member of various arts committees and organizations in the wider community. Her love for her family, friends and community will always be remembered.

Morimoto, Kaye cropped Nov 25 2013After a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease, Kaye passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Sunday, November 24, 2013, at Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, Kitchener.

 Predeceased by her husband and siblings Hisao Ogura (Miyoko, deceased), Mas Ogura and Michi Higo (Dick), she is survived by her younger brother Tad (Eileen).

 Born in Port Moody, BC to Yae and Ukichi Ogura, Kaye was among the many thousands of Japanese Canadians who were forced to move from their homes and interned in camps at the outbreak of WWII. The family settled in Toronto in the aftermath.

 Kaye was a loving mother to Lorraine (Wayne Osborne, deceased), Craig, and Lois Musselman (Ron). Naomi, Nathan and Aaron Musselman will deeply miss their cherished Nana.

 She will be lovingly remembered for her smile, genuine warmth and love of family. She was a good mother. Above all, she will be forever remembered for her unwavering devotion to the loving care and well-being of her son Craig.

 The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Grand River Hospital, Floor 8 and the Palliative Care Unit, Freeport Health Centre, for their compassionate care.

 Friends are invited to share their memories of Kaye with her family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 from 7 – 9 p.m. and Thursday, November 28, 2013 from 10 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. A reception will be held immediately following the service in the Fireside Reception Room of the funeral home. A private family interment at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.

Formerly of Hespeler, Ontario, passed away peacefully at The Village of Winston Park Nursing Home, Kitchener, on Sunday November 24, 2013 at the age of 83 years.  Beloved and loving wife of the late Paul Ward Jenkins.  Sister of Lynton “Red” Wilson and his wife, Brenda, of Oakville. Aunt of Margot, Jennifer and Edward Wilson and John, Peter and Diana MacGibbon.  Dear friend of Lois and the late John Brown of Toronto and their children, Susan and Rosemary and her husband Damien McIsaac.  Special thank-you to Marianne and Tom Sloane of Hespeler for their friendship and care.  Predeceased by parents Ronald Alfred Wilson and Blanche Evelyn (nee Matthews) of Port Colborne and by beloved sisters Loreen McMillan and Dorothy MacGibbon.

Muriel was a graduate of McMaster University and enjoyed a long career as a Manager for Bell Canada.  During retirement she earned the Ontario Volunteer Service Award for her activities with the Cambridge Library.  She and husband, Paul, shared a love of nature which was evident in their surroundings and pursuits.  They were devoted cat owners and dedicated supporters of the Humane Society and other wildlife charities.  Among their varied interests they especially enjoyed sailing and travelling to the West Indies.  Muriel will be remembered fondly for her spirited conversation and for the many occasions she filled with fun and laughter.

Thank-you to Rebertha and the other caregivers as well as the staff of Winston Park for the kind care during the past few years.

 Passed away at Pinehaven Nursing Home, Waterloo, on Saturday November 23, 2013 in his 93rd year.  Loving husband of Dorothy (nee Apel) for 70 years. He will be dearly missed by children Roger (Kim); Valerie (Tom) their daughter Tamara (Paul) their children Spencer, Hanna; Randy and his children Lindsay, Amy and Matthew; and Rhonda (Shane) and their children Kyle and Joel (Darla).

 Predeceased by his parents Samuel John and Jane (nee Thompson), and by siblings Idona, Roy, Tom, James, Wilfred and Margaret.

Beloved Grandfather of Joedy & Brian Wood, Todd & Becky Thibodeau, Steve & Sina Brown, Mike Brown, Tracy Hatfield & Chris Remi Labelle, Darren & Nicole Hatfield, Tina Calvert, Damon Rivait, Crystal & Scott McArthur, Candice & Richard Dalziel, and the late Tiffany McEwen (1984). Great grandfather of Kailyn & Scott Wood, Rene & Cory Thibodeau, Brett Harrison, Cameron & Kaylee Hatfield, Nicholas & Hanna Dalziel, Brooklyn & Callie McArthur and Sira Brown. Great Great Grandfather of Alex & Jennifer Calvert. Bill was the loving son of the late Charles and Lillian McEwen; all his siblings and in-laws predeceased him. Stewart McEwen, Hugh McEwen, Gladys & Orville Zavitz, John & Julia McEwen, Eleanor & Emerson McLeod. Bill was a retired employee of Sterling Fuels and enjoyed almost 30 years of retirement. Dad could always be found outside puffing on a good cigar and enjoying the weather outside. He loved his dog Bennie and his flowers, his many friends and wonderful neighbors will sadly miss him. Dad always looked forward to his Sunday morning breakfast with his Cozy Corners family.

MITTON (Coggins), Ursula Helen Mary. A resident of Chatham, Ursula passed away peacefully with her two loving daughters by her side on Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, at the age of 88. Beloved wife of the late H. Glenn Mitton (2008). Loving mother of Lesley Berry and her husband John, of Nanaimo, B.C. and Deborah Hooker and her husband Randy, of Chatham. Cherished grandmother of Matthew & Chelsey Hooker and Shelby Hooker & Kyle Forbes. Also survived by her son David Mitton. Dear sister of Bruce Coggins and his wife Pauline, of Bristol, England. Dear sister-in-law of Lloyd & Eileen Mitton and Lorne & Marjorie Mitton. Ursula is survived by several nieces and nephews. Ursula will be missed by her close friends John & Marjory Burgess, and all of her Sisters in the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. The family wishes to thank all of the caring nurses on the 4th floor, Medicine B, and Dr. Karatela for the wonderful care. Ursula came to Canada as a war bride and lived her life independently until the end. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place with no service to follow.
