PETERSON, Rosalie Bernadette

Feb. 11, 1938 – Feb. 20, 2016

Rosalie passed peacefully with her loved ones at her side after a courageous battle with cancer. She is the daughter of Ken and Marie Matthews, born in London, Ontario, at the Bethesda hospital, the fifth of six children. She is predeceased by her parents, sister Gloria, and brothers Ken (Sam) and Don. Rosalie had four children from her first marriage, Tom (Meg), Marie (Hiro), Lisa (Phil), and Don (Dana). She leaves behind her sisters Linda (Steve) and Elayne (the late Chuck). Rosalie leaves behind her husband of 43 years, Jim Peterson. Rosalie had a life-long love of needle work and was very proud of the clothes she made for her girls and her grandchildren. Her dolls were a favorite of all who received them and she took great pleasure in making them for family and friends. She was an avid reader and follower of current events. Rose was a lively and articulate conversationalist who lived by the rule, “treat others the way you would like to be treated”. She passed on her love of sports and physical activity to all her children. Christmas was a special time of year for Rose going so far as to get a job in a year round Christmas store during her time in Florida. Life-long friends Mary Cameron, Loretta Prue, and Gwen Hunt all met in grade school or at one of her first jobs at Bell in London. “The Ladies” made her retirement in London a happy one and their love and care for her up until the end was a testament to their true friendship. Rosalie was very close with her cousins and extended family here in London. Her niece, Roz, was a favourite who gave much comfort to Rosalie at St. Joseph’s. She has always been a London girl at heart no matter where she lived and made it back when retirement time came. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff, nurses, volunteers, and Dr. Bishop at St. Joseph’s Hospice whose care made Rosalie as comfortable as humanly possible; thank-you all so much. The memorial service will be conducted at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Saturday, March 5th, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior. Reception to follow. MCDADE – Angela Donna of St. Thomas

Front pic (180x275)MCDADE – Angela Donna

On February 22nd, 2016 – age 46, despite her resilient effort to live, Angela passed away surrounded by her loving family.  Born in Newfoundland and raised in St. Thomas, her life was filled with many highs and lows, with health battles in-between. Her family often referred to her as the ‘cat with nine lives,’ due to the many times she was able to overcome the odds and fight against sickness over the past 7 years.  No matter what seemed to knock Angela down, she was able to get back up with the help and encouragement of her supportive family. Angela will join her ‘older bro’ Ed McDade, who lost his battle to cancer three years back. We can only imagine how happy and excited she is to share her humour with him once again, and continue her admiration towards her older brother. Loving daughter of Edward and Margaret McDade, proud mother to Brandon (Celeste), Courtney and Darren.  Darren’s father Brian Catt was always there to be a helpful and best friend to Angela. She was a devoted grandmother to Edward and William, who changed her life with positivity and love. Angela was the youngest sister to Karen McDade (Steve), Jeanette Martin and Shirley Ashton (Morris). A loving auntie to Bradley, Sarah and Trevor Martin, Meggie and Jordan Ashton, and Faith McDade. Angela will be fondly remembered by her Aunt Jeanette, Uncle Don Davison and family from Burlington. Her Aunt Carol Crowe, family from Isle of Man, and the extended family in England and Scotland will always remember their light-hearted Angela.

Dearly loved father of Amie Ronald-Morgan (Chris), Shannon McGill (Aaron), Lindsay (Marc Riopelle), and Allie Purcell. Devoted and proud Papa of Donovan, Imogen, Alaya, Sonja, Leah, and Ethan. Long-time partner of Carrie Ronald. Cherished son of Thelma Ronald of Brantford and the late John (Jack) Ronald. Dear oldest brother to Donna Coyne (Bill), Brian Ronald (Diana), and Barbara Longo (John). Dennis will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews, cousins, his many friends, and his loyal companion, Bobby the beagle. A Brantford resident for most of his life, Dennis welded for Stelco Steel in Hamilton for almost four decades. Upon his retirement, he moved to London to be closer to his family, and treasured spending time with his kids and grandkids. Dennis was an avid fan of sports and music and had an encyclopedic knowledge of both subjects – and just about anything else you might want to hear of. Dennis loved to watch his London Knights and could talk about Coronation Street for hours. Dennis had a passion for mentoring young athletes and served as a coach for minor league hockey teams in Brantford and region. The family extends warmest thanks to Sherry Vergilio, RN (ParaMed), Dr. Kirk Hamilton & team, and the wonderful care Dennis received at the Cancer Centre and at University Hospital. Friends will be received at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Monday, February 29th, 2016 at 12:00 p.m., with a celebration of life service to follow at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place at a later date at Mount Hope Cemetery, Brantford. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Dennis are asked to consider the London Regional Cancer Program or a youth sporting charity of your choice.
