METHE, MarcIt is with great sorrow that the family announces his sudden passing at work on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at the age of 34 years. Cherished son of Cléo and Marianne Methé. Loving brother of Mélanie Methé (Marc Rousseau). Proud uncle of his newborn niece Émilie. Dear grandson of Marie-Jeanne Methé (late Wilfrid). Predeceased by his grandparents Alexandre and Yvette Robillard. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by many aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Marc had a passion for Nascar and Formula 1 (F1) Racing. As per Marc’s wishes a private family service was held. Predeceased by his wife Anita Leduc (née Lacasse) in 2012. Loving father of Gloriane Larkin (Michel), Roger Leduc (Nicole), Aline Prévost, Claude Leduc (Cindy), Rénald Leduc (Effie), Michel Leduc (Darlene Teddy), Lorraine Leduc and Sylvain Leduc. Dear brother of Rita, Lucille, Eva, Ernest, Philippe and Gilles. Predeceased by his many other siblings. Sadly missed by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Mr. Leduc was a proud veteran of World War II. Joe was loved and will be greatly missed by his wife of fifty-six years, Noreen (nee Benedetti), his daughter Michele and her husband Terry Caba. He was predeceased in 2013, by his beloved son Charles. He leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Ryan Caba (wife Allison) and Emilie Caba, as well as his delightful great-grandchildren Mackenzie, Ty and Brody who were his pot of gold at the end of life’s rainbow. He is survived by his brothers Aime (wife Vivian) and Leo (wife Helen) and his sisters Francoise (husband Ugo Comacchio) and Martha (late husband Moe), and his sister-in-law Marina Glibbery (late husband Ski). He is pre-deceased by brothers Andre (late wife Frances) & Hector (wife Lorraine) and sister Margaret (husband Bill Core). Joe was an INCO retiree, a former Coniston Town Councillor and Lions Member & Past President. He was an esteemed, long time Coniston resident who was known for his infectious sense of humour, his engaging personality, his kind & generous nature, his legendary hospitality and his love of sports. Everyone knew they were welcome at any time into the warmth of his and Noreen’s loving home. He was a kind and gentle husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. Joe enjoyed his friendships with the Ntaganda family and his dear friend George Paradis. He will be greatly missed by his large family, his in-laws, his many special nieces, nephews and friends. SOPHIA PIC FOR PAPERSSophia Elizabeth Vlasman passed peacefully on Friday June 6th, 2014 at 11:11a.m. after a courageous battle filled with hope and strength.  She is now our beautiful angel and is no longer in pain.  Beloved daughter of John and Jodi Vlasman, most amazing sister to Sammi and Clark, cherished granddaughter of Hilda Vlasman (the late Tony), Rudy and Christine Vinnai, (late Ann Vinnai).  Adored by many aunts, uncles and cousins.  A beautiful friend to many.  Our dear sweet Sophia was treasured by us all.  Her 16 years here seem so short, yet she touched so many.  Her dream of being a teacher was fulfilled by teaching us all what living really was about.  We would like to thank the Oncology Team, Radiation Team and amazing nurses and staff in the Pediatrics Medical Day Unit, as well as B6 at Children’s Hospital London.  As well as the caring Palliative Care Team, C.C.A.C. and Bayshore nurses Krystal and Linda.  A special thank you to Dr. Donna Watterud for your tremendous support while we cared for Sophia at home.  Lastly we thank our phenomenal family, friends and community who have lifted us up in prayer and support.  Family and friends are invited to pay their respects to Sophia as no family will be present on Monday June 9th from 1 to 9 p.m. at the Alexander & Houle Funeral Home, 245 Wellington West, Chatham, 519-352-2710.  A private family service will be held.  Friends planning an expression of remembrance are asked in-lieu of flowers please consider donating to TLC Charity @TLCfoundation.ca  Sophia felt very strongly about this foundation thanks to Leo Larizza-helping all children-no discrimination.  On-line condolences may be left at http://alexanderfuneralhome.ca

Beloved husband of Marjorie Ste-Marie (nee Prowse) of Belleville and formerly of London. Loving father of Lynn (John) Czuba of Rockland, Jane (Bob) Clement of Trenton and Diane Ste-Marie of Toronto. Proud grandfather of Jeffrey Czuba (Mélissa Lehoux), Ashley Czuba, Julie Clement and Heather (Adam) Paulin and great grandfather of Nathan, Josephine and Katelyn. John is survived by one sister, Monique Hébert and predeceased by his brothers, Laurier, Jean Pierre and André Ste-Marie and by his sisters, Suzanne Brassard, Denyse Dumberry and Liette Morin. John’s career with the Armed Forces commenced in January of 1948 and he retired from his position of Base Comptroller in London, Ontario in 1983. He loved to travel and enjoyed many cruises with Marjorie. Family and friends will be forever touched by his love of life and generosity.

The family will receive friends at the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church, 169 North Park St. Belleville, on Friday, June 13, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Cremation has taken place.

Due to allergies, the family gratefully declines any floral tributes however, if desired Memorial Donations to the Quinte Humane Society would be appreciated.

Passed away tragically on Thursday June 5, 2014. Adam Cartmel of Buckhorn in his 13th year. Adam was a proud member of the Ennismore Eagles Minor Hockey and loved to spend his time in the outdoors with his family and friends. Adam will be remembered by his mom Leah and dad Scott who have lost their dear baby boy and best buddy. He is sadly missed by his best friend and brother Cole and his best big sister Courtney. Also missed by his grandmothers Shirley Cook (the late Papa Ralph), Pat Cartmel (the late Grandpa Dave), uncles Brent Cook (Jacqui), Blake Cook (Candy) and aunt Lynda Bucholtz (Dave). Adam will be remembered by his cousins and friends Gracie, Charlie, Ashley, Abby, David (Kelly) and their daughter Georgia, Mike, Lacey, Ben (Sandy) and Matt (Britt). Adam is also remembered by his dearest friend and buddy Logan. Predeceased by his uncle Dave and aunt Debbie. She will be sadly missed by her husband, William J. “Jim” Green, her mother, Betty (nee Bowlby) Pickersgill Unich (late George Pickersgill) of St. Thomas, her children, Dianne Myers (Rob) of London, John Temple (Shannon) of Port Stanley, Theresa Clutton (John) of London, Georgina Middel (Marty) of Goderich, Pamela DeLine (Dave) of London, and Sandy Reisiger (Rick) of Sparta, her grandchildren, Karlee, Joshua, Nicholas, Casey, Brian, Christine, Jason, Robert, and Gordon, her great grandchildren, Grayson and Mya, and by her siblings, Mary Patriquin (Randy) of St. Thomas, Bruce Unich (Barb) of Calgary, AB, Brian Unich (Sheri) of St. Marys, and Vera Unich of St. Thomas. Also fondly remembered by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Cathy was born in St. Thomas on June 8, 1951. She was a retired cafeteria worker at Parkside Collegiate Institute, and a former employee of Walmart, IGA, and Therm-O-Disc. KARVAS, Maria Terez of Grand Bend, age 83

KARVAS:  It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden and peaceful passing of Mrs. Maria Karvas in her 84th year on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 in Szombathely, Hungary.  She was surrounded by her devoted husband Frank and two sisters Eva and Gitti.  It was God’s will that Maria’s life journey began and ended in Hungary.  She is deeply mourned by her loving husband Frank Karvas, her daughter Rita Bajzat, her son Zoltan Karvas and grandson Andre Bajzat.  Maria will be deeply missed by her sisters, brother and friends in Hungary, close neighbours in Grand Bend, dear friends in London and her circle of friends in the Hungarian “Barati Kor”.  A celebration of Maria’s life will be held at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, 377 Oakland Avenue (at Dundas Street) London, Ontario on Friday, June 6th at 10:30 a.m.  Memorial donations in Maria’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Condolences at www.hoffmanfuneralhome.com
