BairdThomas1Passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Bluewater Health in Sarnia.   THOMAS BAIRD of Brights Grove, was in his 90th year. Born in Scotland, Tom was the son of the late John and Elizabeth Baird. Tom immigrated to Canada in the 1950’s. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Helen (nee Randall). He will be missed by his sisters-in-law June Maginn and Janet Randall and his nieces and nephews Brenda, Keith, Jim, Eric, and Cathy, who will all miss his well-timed sense of humour. He was predeceased by his brothers-in-law Bruce Maginn and Ross Randall. Tom served during World War II with the British Air Force. Tom was a retiree of Imperial Oil and spent his free time sailing, curling, and golfing.   A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will be in Hillsdale Cemetery, Petrolia. Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at St. Joseph’s Hospice on December 17, 2015 at the age of 83.  Beloved husband for 63 years of Pauline.  Adored father of Clarke (Chuck) of Toronto, Karen of Point Edward, Tom (Deb) of Bright’s Grove and Ted (Lori) of Point Edward.  Proud papa of Kate (Kyle), Michael, Annie, Lindsay and Brooke.  Predeceased by his father Norman (1956), mother Cora (1968), brother Bob (1996) and sister Shirley (1990).  Dick was deeply devoted to his family and was passionate about his birthplace.  He was so proud of his Point Edward birth certificate!  Dick was dedicated to the growth, prosperity and independence of The Village during countless years as Mayor, (Deputy) Reeve, Councilor and County Councilor.  He served and supported many commissions and community groups including the Point Edward Volunteer Fire Department, the Fish Hatchery and the Tuscan Lodge.  Dick was inducted three times to the Sports Hall of Fame for his accomplishments in hockey and softball and for leading teams to Ontario Champions as both coach and player.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, December 20, 2015, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 21, 2015, at Smith Funeral Home. Cremation will follow. Suddenly, at Joseph Brant Hospital, Burlington, on Wednesday, December 16, 2015, in his 86th year. Beloved husband of the late June (née McLeod, 1957) and the late Edna (née Braid, 2007). Loving father of Nancy Kendall (Bob) and Allan Cassidy. Missed by grandchildren Christopher (Kelly) and Stephanie (Michael); great-grandchildren Ethan, Kaylyn, Landon, Teagan and Rylan; brother Merv (Sharon); nephew Byron Grant (Ann). Predeceased by his sister, Isabelle Grant. Al was a long-time employee at Kellogg’s, where he built many friendships that he had long cherished throughout the years. Al was well-known in the fly fishing community. Peacefully, on Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at Fiddick’s Nursing Home, Petrolia, Charles Lyle Nixon passed away at the age of 89. Lyle was born in Parkhill, Ontario in 1926 and was a retired member of Local 663 Pipefitters Union. Predeceased by his wife Frances Virginia (McKeracher) Nixon (2000), his parents George (1976) and Ariel (1966), and his brothers Stanley (1943) and Harold (1992). He is survived by his son William S. Nixon, daughters Lynn F. Nixon and Donna M. (Joe) Arcuri, as well as his grandchildren Nicole, Jovan, Adrianna and Carmella Arcuri. Lyle was an avid moose hunter and fisherman, and a huge fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and Maple Leafs. Cremation has taken place. Joan was born in London, Ontario on May 25th, 1932 to Charles and Mabel Smith. She passed away in Strathmere Lodge, Strathroy, Ontario. Beloved wife of the late Allan Pierce (1996). Loving mother of Doug (Bonnie) of Strathroy, Ken (Diane) of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Lisa (Kenneth) Fallin of Denton, Texas. Loving grandmother to Ben and Danielle; Rachel and Alyssa; Courtney and Candace. JacksonPICLewis David Jackson “Buddy”, Age 78 at Royal Victoria Hospital on Dec 15th 2015 of congestive heart failure and cancer.
Born June 12th 1937 in Toronto Ontario Canada, he lived in Toronto, Brampton and Barrie Ontario and Worked for Smith Transport (US) and The Toronto Transit Commission 25 years retired June 1992. Lewis was a member of the Acacia Masonic Lodge, and the Rameses Shriners.

Survived by, his loving wife Linda, Daughter Brenda, Sons David, James, Greg and Glen. Brothers, Gary, William, Richard and sister Judy. Grandchildren Jason, Derek, Stephen, Sean, Ryan, Christopher, Thomas, Melissa and Miles. Great Granddaughter Anika. Lewis was preceded in death by his father Lewis, mother Olive, brother Donald.
Lew was a caring soul, who always showed such kindness. He will be missed for his inteligence, his wonderful sense of humor and his infectious laugh and smile. May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sunshine warm upon your face. And the rain fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the hollow of his hand.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00pm, Sat Dec 19th at The Hub recreation center, Sandy Cove Acres, Relatives and friends are welcome at The Hub, Weeping Willow Drive and Lockhart Road, Innisfil Ont. Lewis chose to be cremated, without a formal service, and his ashes will be present at the celebration. Lew’s ashes will be buried with his father in the spring of 2016 in a private ceremony.

Loving son of the Late Cyril and Emilda, and is survived by sisters Lorraine and Phyllis in Ontario with his brothers Wally and Junior in PEI. Predeceased by brothers Milton and Leonard. He was a special uncle to Owen, Marilyn, Wendy, Cathy, Kelly, Dean, Tammy, Stacey, Michelle, Jolene, Leonard, Debbie, Kim and Gregory and his many great nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place and a Mass for celebration of his life will be held January 9, 2016 at St. John Vianney Parish Barrie beginning at 11:00 am . “Eddie lived for his people at the Queen Street Mental Hospital”. “He had the biggest heart with the ability to see that a cup of coffee meant so much more than just that”. “Eddie changed so many lives for the better, and always strived to see the authenticity in everyone”.

On Saturday December 12, 2015 our Mom, Elizabeth Jane Rodbard lost her 2 year battle with cancer and she is now at peace. She passed away peacefully at the Hospice Georgian Triangle in Collingwood at 12:30 Saturday.
As per Mom’s request there will be no wake or service but there will be a celebration of life at Branch 63 of the Royal Canadian Legion in Collingwood on Saturday January 2, 2016 from 1-5 in the afternoon.

We ask that any donations to be made in mom’s memory got to the Hospice in Collingwood www.hospicegeorgiantriangle.com . They made moms last week a very comfortable and relaxing experience. Such a wonderful place!!!

Rita was a long time resident of Courtright having operated Green Acre Country Kitchen in Mooretown for many years. She was a devoted grandma to her grandchildren whom she treasured deeply. Rita enjoyed spending time near and on the St. Clair River. She and Tom enjoyed their many trips to Florida over the years. Cremation has taken place. Visitation at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia, on Friday from 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the McKenzie & Blundy Chapel on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 11 a.m. and will be officiated by Deacon Lyle Lalonge. Dear grandfather of Adam, Sabrina, Jamie, Dylan Justin, Christopher, Tracy, Vicki, Casey, Cassandra, Tammy, Amy, and Alexis.
