RODDEN, Aneita June of Cobourg, Ontario

Posted by on June 10, 2014

RoddenAnbeitaThe stars will sparkle a little brighter with the passing of Aneita June Rodden on June 7, 2014. She loved glitz and glam, desserts and chocolate; shoes and handbags, but most of all she loved her family.

Aneita June McKissock was born and raised in Toronto. It was there that she met her one and only love, Jack Wilson Rodden. They married in 1942.

After the war, Jack and Aneita built a house in Willowdale and raised their three children: Ray, Susan (Cochrane), and Ron. Their family was always close with her parents Frank and Reta; brother Orman, wife Margaret and their three children: Janet, Marilyn and Stephen, just down the street. Summers were also spent together on the shores of Barcovan Beach.

Jack and Aneita both worked hard. She spent her career at Eaton’s and Bell Canada. Retirement saw them taking off to Pompano Beach for the coldest parts of the year to keep warm. Aneita hated being cold!

Aneita dragged Jack very reluctantly to Cobourg in 1992 to be close to the great-grandchildren. They spent the remainder of their lives here.

Aneita was the last of her generation and she will be finally reunited with Jack who passed away in 1996 – as long as he hasn’t run off with Jackie-O!

“The Queen Bee” leaves a legacy of 4 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by granddaughter Stacey Bonter (nee Rodden). She will be especially missed by the gang in Cobourg: Renee Madden, and her children Maya, Blake, Claudia and Ava Hickerson, and Kalista Brady.

At Aneita’s request a private family service will be held. Donations to Northumberland Hills Hospital or a charity of your choice would be lovely.
