Peacefully after a long and wonderful life, Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Page (nee Smith) passed away at Extendicare Port Stanley on Friday, June 21, 2013 in her 85th year.  She is now in the loving arms of her husband Albert Page who passed away on May 25, 2012.  Betty is survived by her children Larry Page (Bill) of Toronto, Terry Page (Joyce Hohner) (late Elaine Page) of London and Charisse (Tom) McMillan of Port Stanley; her grandchildren James McMillan of Port Stanley and Tanya (late David) Johnston of St. Thomas; great grandchildren Anden and Meghan Johnston; her brother Jack Smith of London; sister-in-law Agnes Smith also of London; and by many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by her brothers Ben (Mildred) Smith, Bill Smith; her sister Joan Beadle (Ted Robb, Len Beadle); and her sister-in-law Shirley Smith.  Betty was born in London to the late Ben and Annie Smith.   She was a dedicated volunteer for numerous charity organizations and became a member of the Port Stanley Lioness Club in 1978 and was Club President from 1983 – 1984.  Arrangements entrusted to the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570).  In keeping with her wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral service.  A private graveside service will be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, London on a later date.  Donations to a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated.  Personal condolences to the family can be made at www.shawnjacksonfuneralhome.com

Jeffrey Lynn Westray, 54, died Friday June 21st, 2013 in Windsor, Ontario. Born in Dearborn, Michigan he was the son of Junior and Juanita, brother to Steve and Maratha and uncle to Barb, Debbie and Travis. Jeff was a competitive cross-country runner in high school and attended U of M on a scholarship. A lifelong Wolverines fan, Jeff was always passionate about sports and the outdoors as well as politics and music. His infectious personality and free-spirit will be sadly missed by many friends at Bliss Fest this year. Jeff maintained many of his friendships from his youth for his entire life and appreciated their love and support. He loved his daughters Emma Elizabeth and Kate Alexandra with his whole heart. Devoted father of Lon Issac Bird and daughter-in-law, Sherry Bird.  Grandfather of Asha-Lynn and Diesel Lee Bird.  Beloved brother of Rosalie Bird, Barry Bird (Debbie), Loxi Street (Dalton), Randy Bird (Joanne), Aurelie Moinet (Jan), and Gerry Bird (Sandra).  Son of the late Hazel and Tommy Bird of Harwood.

Larry was a friend to all who knew him, whether it was from his work in recent years at Cobourg Home Hardware, his previous career at Strapex, or his volunteer work with local art and conservation groups.   A skilled naturalist, Larry had a passion for reading, writing, painting, forestry, gardening, and Canadian history. He was a friend to all who knew him, and was always willing to lend a hand or share his vast knowledge of an amazing variety of topics.

After a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family at his home on Sunday, June 23, 2013, Ed Beals of London in his 69th year.  He is survived by his loving wife Catherine (Mitchell) Beals and his children Cathy Beals (Greg), Sean Beals, Shannon Beals, Donna Leonard, Clayton Leonard (Tania) and Melissa Laframboise (Ted).  Loving grandfather of Jessica, Dawson, Makayla, Zachary, Bella and Maverick. Great-grandmother to Emmett Rodgers and Julian Pang-Webb. Predeceased by her ex-husband Jack Webb (Webb’s Clothing). Audrey was a graduate of Barrie Collegiate Institute,went on to nursing at the Hospital for Sick Children, Class of 1944 where she won the prize for General Proficiency. Audrey was a member of the Barrie Curling Club for many years and was fortunate enough to play in the Ontario Tankard playdowns. She made a wide circle of friends in pursuit of her artistic talents. Her greatest gift to pass on to those who follow is “love of family”. A celebration of Audrey’s life will be held at Collier Street United Church, Barrie, Ont. on Tuesday, June 25 at 3:00 pm. O’Bee, Barbara Evelyn, a long-time resident of  Chatham. Bobbie O’Bee died suddenly on Saturday the 22nd of June at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus. Bobbie was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Chatham. She was born in 1933, the fifth of ten daughters of Ruby McKibbon and Harvey Mohr of Aylmer, Quebec. She is survived by her loving husband Thomas and her sons Michael (Lorraine) and Peter (Cathy), and by her four beloved grandchildren, Kelsey, Patrick, Corey and Thomas, who brought great joy to her later years. Bobbie was predeceased by her sisters Anne (Austin Lusk), Ilene (Gary Perkins), Helen (David Farquhar), Elizabeth “Betty” (Don Smirle), and Bertha (Doug MacLeod).  She will be lovingly remembered by her surviving sisters Eunice “Tiny” (Merland Bennett), Grace (Austin Trudeau), Katherine “Kay” (Bruce Armitage), and Beaulah (Don Legatt)..The McKinlay Funeral Home in Chatham has been entrusted with arrangements. Hepburn, Robert “Bob “ – Passed away peacefully on June 19th in Barrie, Ontario, at the age of 77 surrounded by his children. Predeceased by his wife of 35 years, Verla (nee Losee). Father of Allison (Ron) and Jason (Suzanne). Proud Grandpa to Alanna, Madison, Cole, Carson and Cameron. Brother to Fred, Maureen, and the late Edna. Companion to Carol. Much gratitude and thank you to the doctors and staff at RVH Cancer Palliative Care in Barrie, and Hospice Simcoe for their exceptional and compassionate care. Bob dedicated over 30 plus years to Kodak Canada before retiring in 1992. Bob loved fishing and gardening and he was happiest at his cottage in Eastern Ontario surrounded by family, friends, and his beloved Labrador ‘Clancy’ while listening to the Blue Jays or his favorite cd’s on the deck overlooking the lake. Passed away peacefully at McCall Centre for Continuing Care on Friday June 21, 2013, in her 87th year with her family by her side.  Margaret (Peggy) was predeceased by her beloved husband Walter in 1983. Devoted mother of Stephen (Rosemarie) of Toronto, Richard (Diane) of Comox, Guy of Sarnia, and Mark (Toni) of Mississauga, beloved grandmother of Jeremy (Alexandria), Brigitte, Tori, Dana, Ryan and Lindsay, and great-grandmother of Benjamin, Margaret was predeceased by her sister Marion Asplin and her brother Bob Head. Margaret was born in Fort Erie and attended the University of Toronto where she met her husband Walter. They married in 1949 and moved to Sarnia in 1951 to raise their family. Margaret lived in Sarnia until 2010 when she moved to a retirement home in Mississauga. Beloved husband of 54 years to Beatrice “Bea.” Loving father of Kim Mortimer and Robyn Mortimer and her husband Richard Marsh. Dear brother of Eileen Wyatt of England. Ron will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Ron was an avid fan of soccer; his favourite team was the Queen’s Park Spiders (Scotland). He was the President of SMAA Soccer and coached for the local and travel teams for many years. He volunteered his time driving patients to their cancer treatments in London. was actively involved in Cub Scouts as a Leader, President of the Dow Honours Club, and Ron’s greatest passion was spending time with his family, whether it was sitting at the dinner table laughing and sharing stories, or going to the racetrack with the love of his life, Bea.

MUNROE, Kenneth John  (Retired from O.M.C. after 31 years of service) – Ken Munroe of Peterborough in his 79th year.  Beloved husband of Ann (Merrett).  Dear father of Karen (Mike Masters) of Peterborough, John Munroe (Michelle) of Keswick and Joanne (Ron Bullard) of Peterborough.  Loving grandfather of Ryan, Cassie, Brendan, Devin, Lauren, Nicole, Andrew, Jessica, Cullen and great grandfather of Jayden Kenneth.  Brother of Sister Aldine of P.Q., Gerry Munroe, Jim Munroe (Linda) all of Peterborough and Wayne Munroe (Pauline) of Alberta. Dear father of Richard A. “Rick” Wightman (Lori) of Fredericton, New Brunswick. Wendy Connell (Gordon) of Parkhill, Ontario. Dear brother of Patricia Drummond of Point Claire, Quebec. Born in Chatham, daughter of Kirk & Jamie (VanWael) Skipper of Chatham. Beloved wife of the late Kevin Houlroyd (2010). Dear mother of Anya Houlroyd, Chatham. Sister of Robbi-Lyn Skipper (Justin Quigley), Chatham; Amanda Miller, Chatham and Stefan Miller, Chatham. Aunt of Hunter Quigley. Daughter-in-law of Martha Houlroyd (the late Richard) of Connecticut. Sister-in-law of Karen Houlroyd and the Towle Family.Also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and her canine companion Bob. Loving mother of Gil and wife Patricia Valley, Shirley and husband Ivo Spadotto, Carole and husband Robert Pryce.  Dear daughter of the late Joseph and Gabrielle Vaillancourt.  Cherished mémeré of Ryan, the late Melvin, Michael & Rachel, Angela & Michael, Matthew & Nicole and great-mémeré of  Vince, Dorian, Abriana, Noah, Olivia and Evan. Will be sadly missed by her grand-dogs Abbey, MacKenzie and Roxy. Dearest sister of Real and Hugette Vaillancourt, the late Jule Vaillancourt, the late Jeannine Brown and the late Jack, Beatrice and the late Eddie Onski, Rita Bednarz and the late John, the late Rachel Payeure. Pauline was known to many for her talent and love of crocheting. Her family will always cherish the many personal gifts of her loving labour.
