Passed away peacefully in the home that he loved, on Friday, November 15th, 2013, in his 60th year, in the presence of his loved ones. He will forever be lovingly remembered by his wife Jackie, daughter Kayla, parents Bill and Florence Walker, and his brothers John, Neil, and Danny (pre-deceased), sister-in-laws, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, and extended family and friends. As per Jim’s wishes, a Celebration of Life (party!) will be held at a future date, to be shared with family and his many close friends. Cherished “Pops” of his grandson Matthew.  Al is predeceased by his siblings Marilyn Manning and Richard Church.  Al is survived by Evelyn’s brother Marcel (Sheila) Leach and Evelyn’s sisters Theresa (Larry Ethier), Rita (Harry Kraus) and Diane (Ken Archer).  Al had a distinguished career at Ontario Hydro. ByrnePassed away at his home in Wasaga Beach, on Saturday November 16th, 2013,  following a brief but bravely fought battle with cancer.  He was surrounded by peace and laughter in his final moments. Survived by his children Elaine (Dale), David, Dolores and Kevin (Megumi) and his adored grandchildren Ken, Taylor, Jake, Ellie, Patrick, Kaitlyn and Raquel.  Grandan  is predeceased by his wife of 34 years, Maureen “Grandy” Byrne.  Tony was also blessed with the company of his loving partner of ten years, Marie, who was loved and adored by Tony’s family and friends.  Dad is predeceased by his sisters Maureen, Christine and Dolores and is survived by his older brother and best buddy, Paddy. Tony will be sadly missed by his many friends and extended family in Canada, Ireland and Japan.  He was a great friend to many. YOUNGSON, William (Bill) – Passed away at University Hospital after a battle with cancer on November 18th, 2013, in his 79th year.  He is survived by his wife Mary, daughters Karen Cholin (Ian) of Thunder Bay, Brenda Youngson of Keswick, stepdaughter Barbara Czyzowski of Toronto, brother Jack (Ann) of Mitchell, sisters Leone and Mary (Ray) of St. Marys, grandchildren James, Heidi and Jessica as well as many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by his parents Dave and Annie Youngson, brother Gerald, brothers-in-law Bob Conley and Bill Vanderholst, sister-in-law Dorothy Youngson, stepson Stephen Czyzowski and son-in-law Ken Flood.  Bill loved to travel and enjoyed a good picnic by the St. Clair River watching the sail boats go by.  He met his wife while teaching Drivers Ed, and enjoyed working for UWO.  He enjoyed a good joke and always had one to tell. His sense of humour stayed with him until the end.  Bill loved his family and sharing his knowledge with his grandchildren, whether it was gardening or the art of telling a joke, his blue eyes twinkled with joy and laughter.   Memorial visitation will be held at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Thursday, November 21st, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.  Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Bill are asked to consider the London Regional Cancer Program. TANNER, RETA  On Monday, November 18, 2013,  Reta Elizabeth Tanner (nee Robertson – Riverfield, Quebec) passed away peacefully at the age of 95.   Predeceased by her husband Richard and survived by her children Lorne Tanner and Lorraine Earl (late Bob Earl); Grandchildren Scott & Kelly Tanner, Jeff & Susan Mills, Ryan & Shelly Tanner, Tara & Chris Veach; and Great-Grandchildren Carter Tanner,  Cameron & Tyler Mills, Emily Tanner, John, Mae & Ben Veach.  Reta’s memory will survive in numerous ways:  the quilts she created for her children, grandchildren and close friends, her dedication to her church, St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church (Barrie) and all the “Izzy dolls” that brought happiness to so many children in Afghanistan and the Dominican Republic.  Her proudest moment in the past few years was the presentation of the “Leaf of Inspiration” dedicated to her at the North Bay Waterfront Festival in August 2012.  Visitation is 1 hr. prior to memorial service to be held Friday, November 22, 2013 at 1:00 p.m., St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 47 Owen Street, Barrie, Ontario.  Reception to follow at St. Andrew’s Church.   Dr. Rev. Burkhardt: Don Cameron of Kitchener

Don transitioned from his earthly life to eternal life at Grand River Hospital on Monday,

Nov. 18 after suffering a brain hemorrhage. He was 82. He had enjoyed country living

near New Dundee for more than fifty years before moving to Kitchener in June. Don

worked in retail grocery businesses, including managing Zehrs’ markets in Kitchener,

Waterloo, New Hamburg and Cambridge. He was an active member at Mannheim

Mennonite Church. Don enjoyed music, leading hymns in church and singing in various

choirs and he was a long-time volunteer with Mennonite Central Committee Ontario. In

his younger years, his speed and agility playing hockey and softball were legendary;

later he enjoyed golf, bowling and crokinole. Don was the youngest child born to Menno

and Hattie (Lichty) Burkhart in Waterloo. One brother, Eugene, Langley, B.C., sister-in-

law, Peggy (Mahlon), Waterloo, and numerous nieces and nephews survive. Besides his

parents, sister Nora and husband E. Clare Shantz, brothers Vernon, Oron, Mahlon

and Melvin and sisters-in-law Erlene Burkhart and Eileen Burkhart preceded him in

death. Survivors include Don’s wife, Ferne (Cressman); daughters Lorrie (Ken) Koch,

New Hamburg and Nancy (Kyle) Yoder, Goshen, IN; son Dwight (Lisa Jones), Guelph; grandchildren Kris and Kathryn Koch, Madeleine and Adrian Burkhardt-Jones, Jeff, Trent and Nick Yoder; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Vernon and Doris Cressman, Lois (Stan, deceased) Lowe of Kitchener and Rhoda (Arnold, deceased) Cressman, Mount Pleasant, PA. Both visitation on Friday, November 22nd, 2:00 to 4:00 p.m and

7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and the funeral service to celebrate Don’s faith and life on Saturday,

Patrick HarmonHARMON- Patrick Shaune Harmon passed away, while surrounded by his family at University Hospital, as a result of a motor vehicle accident on November 16, 2013, at the age of 46.   Patrick leaves behind his best friend and loving wife Margaret Harmon (nee Dyck) and his two wonderful boys Baily and Adam.  He is also survived by his parents Frank and Alberta Harmon of England; his siblings Maria (Mark) Cassidy and their son Christopher and his daughter Chloe of England, Paul (Marie) Harmon and their children Katie and Ross of Ireland, Susan (Darren) Smart and their children Matthew, Jack, Neive and Lauren of England; his mother-in-law Margaret (late John) Dyck of Aylmer; brother and sisters-in-law Anne (Ralph) Brix and their children Joshua, Darren, Michael and Brianne of Aylmer, Peter Keyes of Vancouver, John (Karen) Dyck and their children Amelia and Caleb of Ohio, Sue (Bob) Jaster and their children Bobby, Mandy, Kristin and Matthew of Michigan; and by many other uncles, aunts, and cousins.  Patrick and Margaret met and fell in love while working on cruise ships together.  Patrick was an avid reader, writer and poet.  He loved the ocean, scuba diving and people.  Patrick worked at Starwood Hotels and previously at Van Pelt’s.  Visitation will be held at Faith Church 345 Fairview Avenue, St. Thomas on Thursday, November 21, 2013 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, where the funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm.  Cremation to follow.  If desired, a trust fund has been set up for Patrick’s family.  Arrangements entrusted to Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570).  Personal condolences to the family can be made at www.shawnjacksonfuneralhome.com

She was the daughter of the late Lucien Desjardins and of the late Marion Burton; the cherished mother of Christine (Erik) and Tammy (Richard); the loving grandmother of Félix; the dear sister of Diane, Gisèle, Colette and Marcel. web_picard_marcel C’est avec beaucoup de tristesse que nous vous annonçons le décès de Dr Marcel Picard survenu le 17 novembre à Amherstburg à l’âge de 86 ans.  He joins his best friend and soulmate Theresa Picard (nee Holland). Beloved father of Paul Picard and Marnie Stranks, Marc, Claude and partner Scott Gilchrist, Joseph et Diane, Dr. Erin Picard and Daniel Murphy. Loving grandfather of Micheline, Lindsay, Robert, Daniel, Claire, Madeleine et Augustin.  “Grand-papa” de Jean-Paul.  Frère aîné de Yolande Bonhomme, Dr Aline Picard et l’honorable Claudette Picard. Survived by many nieces and nephews. Dr. Picard was the first dentist to locate his practice in Sandwich. He served as chairman of both the Windsor Separate School Board and the Windsor Public Board. He will be remembered for his incredible generosity towards and concern for the less fortunate, his uncompromising integrity et son engagement envers la francophonie. Thanks to nurses and personal support workers who helped our father and special thanks to Jacques who accompanied both our parents on their final journey.  Donations to Assumption Church Restoration would be appreciated by the family. Loving wife of Harold Dundas for 54 years.  Dear mother of Fred (Wanda, Marie & Molly) Susan (Greg, Valerie & Max) Platsko, Hal (Christine, Connor & Dylan), Heather (Mike, Andy and Erin, Donovan & Calvin) Rupert, Neil (Angelica & Olivia), Ken (Anne Marie, Lorayne & Willow), and Garnet (Heather), and great grandson Brody Rupert. margaret burgess 003BURGESS, Mrs. Margaret E. (nee Prior), of Fingal, passed away at her residence on Monday, November 18, 2013, in her 90th year.  Beloved wife for 68 years to William W. Burgess.  Dearly loved mother of Donna Burgess of St. Thomas, Barbara Telfer (Ken), and Ray Burgess (Barbara) of R.R.#1, St. Thomas.  Cherished grandmother of Lisa Telfer, Alex Telfer (Dawn), Richard Burgess (Jennifer), Craig Burgess, and Steven Burgess.  Proud great grandmother of Jordan, Julia, Kate, Anderson, and Taiten.  Also survived by several nephews.  A brother, Duncan Prior, was killed overseas during the Second World War while serving with the Canadian Army, and a grandson, David J. Burgess died in 1984.  Born in St. Thomas, ON, September 1, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Gordon L. and Margaret (nee Lindsay) Prior.  Margaret was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Fingal where she was active in various groups and the former organist for 51 years.  She was a member of Golden Acres Chapter #305, O.E.S., Shedden, and a long-time volunteer with the Extendicare Auxiliary, Port Stanley.  Friends will be received by the family at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Thursday, November 21st  from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Friday, November 22nd at 11:00 a.m.  Interment in Union Cemetery.  Flowers gratefully declined.  If so desired, memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario or the Canadian Diabetes Association will be appreciated.

Loving mother of Joe Galos and wife Charlene, Ronald Galos and wife Debbie and the late Rosemary (2001). Proud and adored grandma of Ron Galos, Chris Galos, Sarah Galos MacKenzie (Mat) and great meme of Drake MacKenzie. Predeceased by her parents August and Anna Janssens. Dearest sister of late Louie Janssens (Margaret), late Charlie Janssens (late Julia), Alice Hazelwood (late William), late Elsie Janssens and sister-in-law of Elizabeth Pozsar (late Michael). She will also be remembered and missed by many nieces and nephews. Shirley was a wonderful wife for 59 years, beside Joe all her life starting on the dairy farm and then to the mushroom farm and the bowling alley. She was a longtime member of the Essex C.W.L.
