GASKIN, Victor – Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Woodingford Lodge, Woodstock, Victor Macdonald Gaskin in his 98th year. He is survived by his two daughters, Caroline Gaskin of London, Barbara Gaskin of Norwich Norfolk, England, grandson Nicholas Gaskin of London and great-grandson of Forest. He will be remembered by his nieces, nephews, and extended families. Predeceased by his parents Dennis and Margaret Gaskin (nee Macdonald), daughter Marilyn Baker, brothers Ronald and Neil as well as his three wives Doreen “Jean” Gaskin (nee Brooks), Marion Gaskin (nee Wilson) and Mary Gaskin (nee Connolly). Victor proudly served his country as a pilot and bomber squadron leader in WW II. He went on to work for the Federal Government as a manager for ManPower Canada and was involved in many facets of business in and around the Woodstock area. Throughout the years he pursued a vast array of interests such as woodworking, golfing, gardening, photography, and horseback riding. He even learned leather work just so that he could make his own saddle. Victor was instrumental in organizing the first Woodstock Wood Show. A Memorial Mass will be held at Holy Trinity Parish, 1420 Devonshire Ave, Woodstock on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at 11 am with Fr. Dariusz Jagodzinski. 94 years, passed away at Sun Parlor Home in Leamington on Sunday, April 15, 2018. Devoted husband of Marilyn (nee Bishop) (passed Jan 18, 2017) for 69 years. Son of the late William and Olive Whaley. Dear father of Carol Ives, Leamington, Brian (Angie) North Bay, Darl, Victoria B.C. and the late Mark. Adored grandfather of 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Survived by twin sisters, Doreen Scratch (late Hugh) and Eleanor Laramie (late Bub). Predeceased by siblings Alfred (Joyce), Rex (Kay), and Edith Bride (George). Special uncle to many nieces and nephews. Murray was a past Grand Steward of the Xenophon Wheatley Masonic Lodge. Murray is the last member of the 14 founders of the Wheatley Talbot Trail Golf Course. On Monday, April 16, 2018, at Strathroy-Middlesex General Hospital, John Douglas Thomson, of West Lorne, peacefully passed away at the age of 82.  Beloved husband of Ruth Thomson (née Schnekenburger).  Loving father of Dale (Betty) Thomson, Sherry Thomson (Peter Wiles) and Cindy (Mike) Campbell.  Cherished grandfather of Rob (Heather) Thomson, Pete (Stephanie) Thomson, Jennifer (Terry) Lee, Shaun Arvai, Justina (Ricardo) Marques and Scott (April) Campbell.  Proud great-grandfather of Addyson and Nolan Lee and Haylie Marques.  Survived by his sister Shirley Lyons.  Survived also by nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by his parents Norman Thomson and Verna (née Martin).  John and Ruth proudly owned and operated Thomson’s Menswear in West Lorne for over 60 years.  A private family visitation was held followed by interment in Gillies Cemetery.  A private Memorial Service was held at the Bobier Villa, Dutton.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be appreciated.

Passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Marshall Gowland Manor in Sarnia, on Monday, April 16, 2018, at the age of 88 years.  Beloved wife of the late Donald Creasey.  Loving mother of Donna Parkin (late Richard), Daniel Wayne, and Diane Clark (Jack), and the late David Gordon (1966).  Grandmother of Jessica, Sam, Jillian, Angela, Amanda, Allyssa, Jared, and Abby.  Great-grandmother to William, Henry, Samuel, Harry, Florence Dorothy, Beth, George, Aryanna, Freja, Wyatt, James, Seamus, Liam, Mackenzie, and Clyde.  Also survived by her sister in law Dorothy Keat.  Predeceased by her siblings Ruth Chappell, Earl Ross, Jim Rosenbloom, Betty Ann Rosenbloom, and Ernie Rosenbloom.  Dorothy will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews who can now freely call her “Aunt Dot.”  Dorothy lived a very active and full life, and engaged in many pursuits, including quilting, knitting, snowmobiling, gardening, boating and sailing, fishing, cooking, and was a one-woman manufacturing whirlwind.  She was so devoted to caring for others and her charitable works that she could boast having received her first speeding ticket while on a delivery of one of her quilts.  She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.  Visitation will take place at DENNING’S OF FOREST, 9 James Street South, Forest, on Friday, April 20, 2018, from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm, and at Paterson Memorial Presbyterian Church (120 Russell Street South, Sarnia) on Saturday, April 21, 2018, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm.  Funeral Service to take place at 1:00 pm at the church.  Interment to follow at Lakeview Cemetery.  For those who wish, in memoriam donations to the Sarnia Lambton Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.  Online condolences may be left at www.forestfuneralhome.com

PETTIT, Heidi Marie – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Heidi Pettit (Voordenhout) on Monday, April 16, 2018 at the age of 35. She leaves behind her husband and soul mate, Jeff, and 2 beautiful children, Clayton and Paisley. Heidi is survived by her parents John and Dorothy Voordenhout, brothers Mike (Jenni) and Chris (Kim); parents-in-law Derek and Janet Pettit, brother-in-law Dave (Darlene) and sister-in-law Jennifer (Steve) as well as many nieces and nephews. Heidi also leaves behind her “Oma and Opa”, John and Geri Voordenhout, aunts and uncles and many cousins, friends and co-workers. Heidi was employed in Sarnia by the Canadian Mental Health Association. She will be deeply missed by all.

Peacefully at home on Saturday, April 14, 2018, Robert Charles Simms of London in his 89th year. Beloved husband of Irma Lee-Simms for 67 years. Loving father of Markham Simms, Barry Simms (Karen) and Dean Simms (Fiona). Cherished grandfather of Natalie, Taylor and Jamie and soon to be great grandfather of Carter. Robert was predeceased by his sister Doreen and brother Jack. He will be greatly missed by many wonderful friends. Bob was a long-time London business owner of Burman’s Beauty Supplies. He was a Shriner, a wonderful photographer and a man who had a great appreciation for the arts, music and nature. He had a wonderful zest for life, but the time spent with family and friends over a great glass of wine, good food and conversation was his most favourite. “Bob, you will be so missed, cheers to you!”. On April 16, 2018, after a short battle with cancer, the Lord in His infinite wisdom relieved John Jongbloed of all his earthly struggles and pain in his 71st year. He is survived by his dear wife of 45 years, Ann and his beloved children Bryan and Karen Jongbloed, Kerri and Andrew Jans, Michelle and Allan Brouwer and Emily and Chad Laprise. He is treasured by his 16 grandchildren Hailey, Brayden, Joel, Kaitlyn, Sean, Caleb, Ethan and Alyvia Jongbloed; Jakob, Nathaneal and Mika Jans; Owen, Noah, Ezra and Eliot Brouwer and Faith Laprise. He is also survived by his sister Amy Jongbloed and brothers Dewey and Diane, Henry and Tammy and Albert and Tracy. She was the beloved wife of the late Viateur Berniquez; the daughter of the late Léonidas Bonin and of the late Marguerite Bissonnette; the loving mother of Joanne (Louis Brunet), Sylvie (Alain Duval), Alain (Thérèse Charbonneau), Yves (Aline Arcand), Hélène (Nathalie Lalonde) and Lise (Gilles Guindon); the loving mother of 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; the dear sister of Jean-Guy (Pierrette), Jeannine (Robert Grand-Maison) and Claudette (late Omer Laporte). She was predeceased by a great grandchild Mélina and her twin sister Jeannette Desjardins (late Paul Desjardins). Elle était la tendre épouse de feu Viateur Berniquez; la fille de feu Léonidas Bonin et de feu Marguerite Bissonnette; la mère bien-aimée de Joanne (Louis Brunet), Sylvie (Alain Duval), Alain (Thérèse Charbonneau), Yves (Aline Arcand), Hélène (Nathalie Lalonde) et Lise (Gilles Guindon); la grand-mère adorée de 13 petits-enfants et 20 arrière-petits-enfants; la chère soeur de Jean-Guy (Pierrette), Jeannine (Robert Grand-Maison) et Claudette (feu Omer Laporte). Unexpectedly, on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at the Village of Glendale Crossing, Jill passed away in her 90th year. Beloved wife of the late Mervyn C. Beaton. Dear mother of Wendy Beaton and Brent Beaton (Laurie Barker). Also loved by her 2 grandchildren Blair (Jane Markuzzi) and Sabrina (Tyler Harker) Beaton and her great grandchildren Kara, Jace and Jaxon. Survived by her friend and sister-in-law Laureen Beaton. Jill was a secretary at the Thames Valley Board of Education, spending her last 10 years at Saunders Secondary School. Jill and her husband Mervyn were very involved in square dancing and senior’s shuffleboard. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Glendale Crossing for their care and compassion. Friends and family are welcomed to celebrate Jill’s life on Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 1-3 pm at the A. Peacefully on April 15, 2018 at the age of 65 with her loving family by her side. Loving wife of Harry for 46 years. Cherished mother of Lori Ford and husband Jeff, Marc and spouse Krystal, Joseph and wife Kristen, Pamela Rupert and husband Brent. Adored grandmother of Luke, Grace, Kaianna, Jacob, Joy, Joshua, and Lily. Predeceased by her parents Tony and Jean Hermann and her mother and father-in-law Ralph and Cecilia Grondin. Dear sister of Connie McFee and husband Gus, Dave Hermann, Tim Hermann and wife Fay, Bonnie Pillon and husband Bill, Wendy Calhoun and husband Ron, Cathy Gyori and husband Mike. Sharon will be sadly missed by her brothers and sisters-in-law, her nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Sharon worked as a nurse, and as a pharmacy assistant for many years.
