Mrs. Alice Jean Oliphant, a resident of Chatham and formerly of Wallaceburg, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2014 at Riverview Gardens, in Chatham at the age of 89 years.She was born in Dawn Township and was a daughter of the late Chas and Alice (Humphrey) Eglin.Beloved wife of the late Francis “Goldie” Oliphant.Loving mother of Julie (Joe) Fraleigh and Cheryl (David) Wood.  Sadly missed by her grandchildren Shane, Josh, Adam, Aaron, Andy, Chris, Cory and Jason.Kind sister of Jack Eglin and Pearl (Harold) Smith.Also survived by many nieces and nephews.Predeceased by a son Brad Oliphant (2011), a grandchild Jaylan, a brother Charles Eglin and two sisters-in-law Florence Eglin and Nora Eglin.Arrangements entrusted to the Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home Ltd. 639 Elgin St., Wallaceburg.  Cremation will take place.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2014 from 1-2 p.m. at the Dresden Community Church.  The Funeral Service will follow immediately after visitation at 2 p.m. from the church.  As an expression of sympathy, donations to Park Street Residence Council or the Alzheimers Society may be left at the funeral home.Online condolences may be left at www.ericfnichollsfuneralhome.com.  As a living memorial, a tree will be planted in Nicholls Memorial Forest in memory of  Alice Jean Oliphant.
