roy ogburn 002PoppyOGBURN, Roy E., of R.R.5, St. Thomas, passed away at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Monday, February 8, 2016, in his 94th year.  Beloved husband for 64 years to Jean (nee Savard) Ogburn.  Dearly loved father of Ken Ogburn and his wife Greta of Kanata, and Dan Ogburn and his wife Marion of R.R.5, St. Thomas.  Dear brother of Marian Miller and her husband Ewald of Rabbit Lake, SK, and the late James Ogburn (his wife Anne of Toronto).  Also survived by 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.  Born in Battleford, SK, February 26, 1922, he was the son of the late James and Elizabeth (nee Haubold) Ogburn.  Roy enlisted in the R.C.A.F. in 1943 and trained as an air gunner.  At the end of the Second World War, he re-enlisted and served until his military retirement in 1969 as a Warrant Officer.  His second career was as a parts manager at Buchwald Motors, London.  Roy was an adherent of Holy Angels’ Roman Catholic Church, St. Thomas.  Relatives and friends will be received by the family on Friday evening, February 12th from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) where the funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 13th at 1:30 p.m.  Following cremation, inurnment in St. Peter’s Cemetery, London.  Memorial donations to the Salvation Army will be gratefully acknowledged.
