Peacefully, Wednesday morning at Health Sciences North, October 17, 2012, John “Jack” O’Connell in his 78th year: dear son of Harry and Toini (nee Cresty) O’Connell, both predeceased; beloved husband of Lillian (nee Shenkaruk) O’Connell: loving father of David (wife Rosemary) of Espanola and Karen of Sudbury; lovingly remembered by his three grandchildren, Davis, Emily and Carly; also survived by his sister Nancy (husband Gordon) of Arizona,  and sister Linda (husband Gord Dailey) of Sudbury: predeceased by his sister Mary and her husband Bud Howard. Dearly missed by his sister-in-law Patricia Stupak (husband Steve and family) of Ottawa. Jack retired as a salesman in the Mining Equipment Industry. He was an avid sportsman and a very devoted Sudbury Wolves and Toronto Maple Leafs supporter. Jack enjoyed his summers at the golf course. At the family’s request there will be no visitation. Cremation. Funeral mass will be held in Ste Mary’s Ukranian Catholic Church, 40 Notre Dame Avenue, Saturday morning October 20, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Father Petro Bodnar officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations (by cheque only) to the Northern Cancer Foundation will be greatly appreciated. Friends may gather at the church after 10:00 a.m. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Cooperative Funeral Home, Sudbury.
