LEESON, Donald R. B. “Donnie”, of St. Thomas, passed away at LHSC, University Hospital on Saturday, January 13, 2018, in his 63rd year. Born in St. Thomas, ON, August 12, 1955, he was the son of Theresa “Terry” (née Roloson) and the late Donald B. Leeson (2003). Father of Bradley Leeson, and brother of Roberta Knott (Gary), Richard W. “Rick” Leeson (Cathy), and the late Linda Knott (1987). Also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Donnie was the partner of the late Rita Hansen (2006). He was a former employee of Woolley Maintenance Service, St. Thomas. Donnie enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and playing darts. He loved his kitty, Blue Eyes. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no public visitation or funeral service. Private interment of his cremated remains will be made in Elmdale Memorial Park. Memorial donations to the London Health Sciences Foundation re: London Regional Cancer Program will be gratefully acknowledged. CHARBY, Darlene, of RR3, Shedden (Frome), passed away at her residence on Saturday, January 6, 2018, in her 55th year.  Partner of Gerald “Jed” Rycroft.  Daughter of Vera Charby and the late John Davis (1987).  Mother of Kimberlee Palmer (Mike Leroux), and Crystal Palmer (Darcy MacLeod), and grandmother of Hayley Palmer, Mikayla Leroux, Dallas MacLeod, and Kane MacLeod.  Sister of Kathleen “Kay” Campbell (Andrew), Donald “Joe” Gauvin (Joan Duclos), Danny Gauvin, and Benny Gauvin (Peggy Pettigrew).  Also remembered by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Darlene was born in Magog, Québec on August 27, 1963.  She formerly worked as a hostess at Tim Hortons, 995 Talbot St., St. Thomas.  Cremation has taken place.  A service to celebrate Darlene’s life will be held at the Southwold Keystone Complex, 35921 Talbot Line, Shedden on Friday, January 12th at 1:30 p.m., with a reception to follow.  Relatives and friends will be received prior to the service from 12:30-1:30 p.m.  Flowers respectfully declined. LESZCZYNSKI; Matthew Peter of Barrie

It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Matthew Peter Leszczynski, 30 of Oro-Medonte on December 17, 2017. Matthew was born on January 15, 1987 in New Liskeard Ontario, the son of Nancy and Peter Leszczynski. He attended public school in Capreol Ontario, High School in Sudbury, Sault Ste. Marie and Barrie. He also attended Georgian College in Barrie. Matthew was a member of numerous Capreol and Sudbury hockey teams and had the opportunity to play for the OHL’s Soo Greyhounds for 2 years and was a high draft pick of the team. He was an avid fisherman and would routinely catch trophy sized bass. Matthew is survived by his parents Nancy and Peter of Oro-Medonte, his sister Amy Leszczynski (Corey Hastings) of Barrie, Maternal grandparents Eveline and Jim Rainville of Sturgeon Falls and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins as well as his favorite nephew Tristan MacIver. Matthew is predeceased by his paternal grandparents Fred and Hanna Leszczynski of Thunder Bay and also his uncle Mike Rainville who have welcomed Matthew with open arms. SINOPOLI, Yvana Marie – (May 10, 1946 – November 18, 2017)
After a valiant battle with cancer, Yvana Sinopoli (nee Fortin) passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 18th, 2017 at Baycrest Health Sciences, Toronto, at the age of 71.

Born in St. Jean-Port-Jolie, Quebec on May 10th, 1946 to the late Yvan and Germaine (nee Charland) Fortin.

Yvana will be forever remembered by her husband, Nicola Sinopoli, of 52 years. Dearly missed by her daughter Marianne (Chris) Gowanlock and her grandchildren, Joseph, Robert, Christina and Blake. Lovingly remembered by siblings Arlette (David Moffatt) and Yanick Fortin and many nieces and nephews. Reunited in heaven with sisters Micheline (nee Fortin) Desbois and Colinette (nee Fortin) Barrette.

Honouring Yvana’s wishes a private burial was held on Tuesday November 21st, 2017 at Beechwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to either Baycrest Health Sciences Centre at the The Shirley and Philip Granovsky Palliative Care Unit or the Canadian Cancer Society.

Will be forever missed by his wife and best friend Linda (nee Sparks) Burdett. Loving father of Mark Burdett and Jason Burdett. Dear grandpa of Hannah Burdett. Peter Harold Grady, in his 95th year peacefully at the Veterans Health Unit in Fredericton, NB. Husband of Carol R.A. Grady (WRNS – Bletchley Park) d.2011. Born in Edmonton, joined WW2 war effort in 1939 in Hamilton. Served in WW2 attached to the Fleet Air Arm RCNVR as an Observer / Navigator mainly in open cockpit Swordfish biplanes doing convoy escort duty from aircraft carriers and land including the “Murmansk Run” to USSR as well as channel and Atlantic patrols. Served in the Korean War as Ops Officer on board the Tribal Class Destroyer Iroquois with Cmdr Landymore – only Canadian ship hit by enemy fire. Served in planes actively in the “Cold War” looking for USSR submarines & other naval activity near North America, North Africa, Europe and the far North Atlantic as well as on several ships including the destroyer Micmac, frigate La Hulloise (commanding officer), aircraft carrier Warrior. High security clearance with NORAD & member of Canada/US military co-operative committee. Besides a CD he had many Cdn decorations as well as medals from the British Government (Arctic Star) and from the South Korean government. During most of this service to Canada, wife Carol raised 2 boys and 2 girls. He was “old school” about duty, ethics, doing the right thing and helping those in need. A brilliant mind.

Edward (Ted) Howard, loving husband of the late Wilma (Dyer) both of Toronto, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2017 at Victoria Manor in Lindsay, Ontario. Ted had an enormous love of family. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and tennis, had a keen interest in history and was an avid reader. Ted lived life to the fullest, making a positive impact on everyone in his life. Intelligence, determination and a wonderful sense of humour were his gifts which he used generously to touch everyone’s hearts. He will be missed. Loving father of Terry (the late Bonnie nee Thornhill), Rachel (Michael B.) and Lisa (Michael F.) and the late Maureen. Special grandpa of Kent, Daphne, Tracey, Erin, Mikaela and Melissa. Lovingly remembered by his great grandchildren Zachary, Cassandra and Kallista; Thomas and Daniel; Rayden and Declan. Predeceased by his parents Edward and Eileen (Palliser) Howard, and his brother Todd. Fondly remembered by niece Jean and nephew Alan and their families. In keeping with Ted’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a future date to be announced. Private Interment at Pine Hills Cemetery. Lloyd Henry Wheeler, a resident of Pinecrest Manor in Lucknow and formerly of Teeswater and Bluevale, passed away at Pinecrest Manor on Tuesday, January 24th, 2017 at the age of 82.

Beloved husband of Patricia Gamble-Wheeler (née Mulcaster) of Teeswater and the late Isabel Wheeler (née Cameron) who predeceased him in May 1994.

Peacefully in his sleep, Wayne passed at home on Thursday, December 8, 2016 of Feversham in his 75th year. Beloved husband of 50 years to Peggy(nee Hayes). Dear father of Drew of Flesherton, Lori(James) Cannon of Seagrave, Heidi(Jim) Dimakos of Feversham and Chris(Leanne) of Arthur. Loved and remembered by grandchildren Tef, Brad, Nate, Gabe Ferris, Marley, Carter, Ethan Cannon, Emily, Magda Dimakos, Lily and Jasmine Ferris. Dear brother of Colleen(the late Jack) Knowles of Red Bay and John(Shirley) Ferris of Creemore and brother in-law of Paul(Gail) of Singhampton and Peter(Glenda) Hayes of Maxwell. Predeceased by parents Telford and Sadie Ferris. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Wayne graduated from the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants in the top 20 in Canada in 1967. He practised as a public accountant for over 40 years with the latter being his own practice in Maxwell. His passions were farming, family, community and faith. Telling stories and laughing were among his favourite pastimes but his family was his pride and joy.

The family will receive friends at the Fawcett Funeral Home, Flesherton on Saturday, December 10, from 7-9pm, Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Brethren of the Dundalk Masonic Lodge #449 are called to gather for Masonic service Sunday at 6:45pm. Funeral service from Gentle Shepherd Community Church, Eugenia on Monday at 11am. Died peacefully on Friday November 25, 2016 at Campbell House, Collingwood at the age of 56. Lori of Wasaga Beach, formerly of Englehart, beloved wife of Darrell. Loving mother of Herman (Monica Vadori), Peter, Mackenzie (Gabriella Fern) and Jarin (Victoria). Cherished grandmother of Emma. Loving daughter of Aubrey and Betty Warren. Dear sister of Gerry (Hannu Lindholm) and Tom Warren (Wendy). Dear sister-in-law of Clifford Kant (Seija), Marvin Kant (Shelly) and Darlene Kant (Roseann Clyburn), also left to mourn is Lori’s grandmother Agnes Wood. . Lori will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews and friends. Lori was a wonderful mother and wife who cherished her time with her family, loved to cook for family and friends and was a skilled hand crafter. Many of her crafts are treasured gifts. A very special thank you to Gerry for her love and support throughout the past four months. Lori’s care was the ongoing daily love shown by sister Gerry. Her family thank Dr. Ray Bouchard, the staff of Campbell House and the General & Marine Hospital for their exceptional care. Passed away suddenly in his sleep at his beloved cottage on October 23, 2016 at the age of 65. Predeceased by his parents Clifford Shellhorn and Marion Lisk. Beloved spouse of Geany Jakymec. Step-father of David Skahen (Nina Labadie-Skahen) and Michael Skahen (Shabana Khan). Step-grandfather of Emma, Keira, Liam, Isaiah and Aliya. He will be missed by his cousins, Rick and Fred Record, by his many cherished friends, as well by Colt, his four-legged companion. Family and friends can pay respect at the Heritage Funeral Home at 1250 Trim Road, Ottawa (Orleans), Ontario on Thursday October 27th from 2-4pm and from 7-9pm, and on Friday October 28th from 9am-11am, followed by a ceremony at the Funeral Home chapel at 11am. FRY: Karren Ann of Vancouver Formerly of Ontario

images-4It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Karren Ann Fry. Karren passed away in her home on June 13, 2016. 

Karren was was born to Alan (2013) and Elizabeth (Betty Ann) Fry on December 12, 1976 at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria B.C.  After an early life in British Columbia, Karren’s family moved to Ontario where she completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree with Honours in Criminology from Windsor University in Ontario, which led to her working with RCMP in the student program as a young adult.  She eventually moved to Vancouver BC where she married Cary De Best and had her beautiful daughter, Leah.  In time, Karren ventured out on her own and worked as a support worker for adults with mental illness.
 
Karren was a loving mother, dedicated family member and a good friend. Her raw sincerity, infectious laugh, sense of humour and amazing spirit made her a joy to be around. She would brighten anyone’s day with a caring message of support or a ridiculous story.  

Karren was a sincere Buddhist and loved travelling to international Dharma Festivals with her brother for teachings and inspiration.  Special powa ceremonies were performed for Karren by Gen Kelsang Thekchen and friends at Kadampa Mediation Centre Vancouver on June 20th, 2016, As well by her Teacher and friend Gen Kelsang Delek and many others.

Karren enjoyed nature and would find peace during a long walk with her daughter in the parks that line the beautiful coast of Vancouver.  She especially loved animals and adored her two little boy cats Thomas (T-Dawg) and Sammy. 

Her family, friends, and all those she touched will miss her tremendously. Karren is survived by her beautiful and loving daughter, Leah De Best (Cary); Her Mother Elizabeth and grandmother Nelda Sauer; her uncles Jim, Ron, Tom, Doug and her Aunt Ellen; her brother Jeff Fry (Devon) and niece Lexa; and her sister Leanne Fry. 
 

There will be a a celebration of life on July 2nd, 2016 from 11:00am – 2:00pm at St. James Community Centre, 3214 West 10th Avenue, Vancouver B.C.

Robinson, Mary Elizabeth “Betty”– peacefully went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Tuesday, August 2nd, 2016 in her 94th year.  Daughter of the late Ernest and Mary (nee Armistead) Baragar.  Wife of the late Ross Raymond Robinson.  Loving mother of Doug (Betty) Robinson of Swastika, ON and Ivan (Audrey) Robinson of Belleville.  Cherished grandmother of David (Stephanie) Robinson of Bradford, Graham (Amber) Robinson of North Bay, David (Tanya) Robinson of Belleville and Victoria (JD) Schroeder of Pembroke.  Great grandmother of Julia, Ryan, Nathan, James, Lily, Laurel, Jenna and Beth.  Betty is survived by her brother Herb (Teresa) Baragar and her sister Eleanor (Ted) Green both of Belleville.  She is predeceased by her sister Muriel Irwin.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, 30 Moira Street West (613-968-2273).  The Funeral Service will be held at the Quinte Alliance Church, 373 Bridge Street West on Friday, August 5, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.  Interment to follow at Belleville Cemetery.

The family wish to extend their thanks to the staff of the Belmont Long Term Care Facility for their excellent care and compassion.
