LORNE HENRY NILES, 2nd oldest son of Austin Bray Niles and Lillian Louise Stratford, born April 22nd, 1923 in London, Ontario, passed away on Saturday, October 27th, 2012 at Bluewater Health in Sarnia.

On April 27th, 1946, Lorne married Margaret Jean Niles who is survived by as well a son Christopher Warren Niles of Barrie, Margaret Gail Niles of Sarnia and Lauren Faye Niles of Edmonton. Grandsons Nathan David Niles of Edmonton, Jesse Christopher Niles of London, granddaughter Heather Christine Slager and her father Barry Slager of Edmonton. Great-grandchildren Noah Cabral of Leamington, Brooklyn, Jack and Kate Niles of Edmonton. Sister Mirrian Louise Buchner of Toronto. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Edward Bray Niles and Donald MacKenzie Niles and his stepmother Kaye Esser. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was a life member of the Masons, Victoria Lodge #56 of Sarnia and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #62 of Sarnia. Lorne was a WWII veteran and served overseas after enlisting with the Elgin Regiment of St. Thomas on June 17th, 1940. Lorne joined Imperial Oil after his discharge from the forces on March 13th ,1946 until April 27th, 1983 when he retired. Funeral services will be held at the D. J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 102 N. Victoria Street, Sarnia, ON on Wednesday, October 31st at 1:00 pm. with the Ven. Dr. Gordon Simmons officiating. Lorne’s friends Scott Yorke, Bruce Douglas, Steve Barker, Edward Bednar, Ron Thompson and John Bayly will be pallbearers. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery. RCL – Branch #62 will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home on Tuesday evening at 6:45 pm. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday between the hours of 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
