NEVELS ROBINSON, Mrs. Irene (nee Laur) of St. Thomas, passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, October 21, 2014, in her 78th year. Wife of the late Donald K. Nevels (1974) and the late Leighton Robinson (2011). Mother of Stephanie Johnson (Ian), Paula Beaton (Wayne), and the late Kenneth Nevels (1986). Step-mother of Doug Robinson (Rose), Janet Thompson (Len), Jim Robinson (Carol), Bernice Miller (Bob), John Robinson (Mary), LeRoy Robinson (Qiu Ting Ye), Larry Robinson, and Sheila Robinson (Roy Boughner). Sister of George Laur (Bea). Also survived by 15 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husbands and son, Irene was predeceased by 7 sisters and 7 brothers. Born in Yarmouth Twp., ON, July 30, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Dennis and Ethel (nee Betterley) Laur. Irene formerly worked as an occupational therapist at the St. Thomas Psychiatric Hospital and as a home care worker with the Red Cross. She was an elder of the Community of Christ, St. Thomas, where she also served as the music director for many years. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, October 24th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Community of Christ, 105 Fairview Avenue, St. Thomas where the funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 25th at 1:30 p.m. Interment in Elmdale Memorial Park.
