McClymont, Ross Stanley – It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ross Stanley McClymont on Wednesday, April 23, 2014, in his 91st year, after a brief illness. He is survived by Audrey (Clarke), his loving wife of 66 years, daughter Valerie (John), son Danny (Elizabeth), grandchildren Jacqui (Trevor), Jeff, Chloe, Emma, and great-grandchildren Paige and Carter. Ross was born in Newmarket on June 23, 1923. He served overseas, in WWII, as a radio operator in the tank corps. On return to Canada, Ross built a house in Newmarket, later moving to Concord, then to Barrie. Throughout his life he worked at Office Specialty, CCM, De Havilland, and Kraft Foods. On retirement, he took up golf with a passion, spending winters in Alabama where he worked at the golf course. He was proud to state that during his golfing career he twice shot his age and twice shot a hole-in-one! Ross volunteered regularly for the Salvation Army and was a terrific handyman, always willing to help family and friends with projects. He enjoyed working in the yard and tending his garden. Ross will be greatly missed and always remembered. At Ross’ request, there will not be visitation or a service.
If desired, in memory of Ross, donations can be made to the Salvation Army or Grove Park Home in Barrie. Condolences may be placed at marshallwdrivercremationandburialservice.ca
