Kevin “Barry” Mitchell, lifelong golfer, musician and lover of his family, music and pails of red wine, died in his sleep peacefully in the early morning of Friday, December 19, 2014. He had a lifelong affair for a good steak, jujubes and baseball caps. Barry literally chased and race walked through twenty four years of love and laughter with loving wife Heather (Kennedy) Mitchell. He was a passionate man and once you were a friend, you were a friend for life. The oldest of four children of Don and Rose, Barry had many antics and adventures with brother Al (Devon) Mitchell and sisters Judy (Robert)Swift and Rosemary Saucier. Barry taught his children, Christine Mercurio (Sam Segers), Jeff (Trish) Mitchell and Heather (Al) Cunningham (Linda Glendon, mother), Sheri Kennedy-Munro (Tony) and David (Sue) Kennedy to live large, love hard and to laugh daily. To dig in firm when you believe and to apologize profusely when wrong. Barry’s sense of humour and love of music live on in his grandchildren, Brandi, Michael, Tyson, Jillian, Samantha, Mitchell, Spencer, Kelsey, Mark, Riley, Jessica and two great-grandsons, Roemello and Aurillius as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Barry left us knowing that he was loved, laughing till the end, and he “Did it my way.” Cremation has taken place. The family will have a celebration of his life at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society or the Breast Cancer Foundation (cheques only at the funeral home please). Arrangements entrusted to SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
