Peacefully at Twin Lakes Terrace on Monday, December 2, 2013. Born Christine Stopar, April 1, 1913, in Calumet, Michigan. Predeceased by husbands Ezra Elias (Curly) Fader (1958) and Peter Mitchell (1985) as well as six brothers and sisters. Beloved mother of Carol Mino (John) and Robert Fader (Kathy). Much-loved grandmother to R.J. Mino, Jennifer Chadwick (Jim), David Mino, Michael Mino (Gina), R. Graham Fader Phoenix (Stephanie) and Neil Fader (Jinhee). Survived by five great grandchildren, William and Alex Chadwick, Atticus, Ever and Ignatius Phoenix. In her youth she loved skiing, skating and playing on hockey or baseball teams in Northern Michigan. Christine moved to Canada on October 14, 1935, as a governess. She was a long-time resident of Sarnia. After retiring from Barge’s Cleaners (Northgate), she spent many winters in Florida. In her later years, she enjoyed oil painting, daily brisk walks to Canatara, visits to the animal farm, and afternoons at the lake with her dear friend of over 50 years, Mary Silvagi. Scrabble was a daily event. Christine made a cameo appearance in the first Harry Potter movie. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her smile and unique sense of humour will be greatly missed. Special thanks to all of the dedicated staff at Twin Lakes Terrace. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Sympathy donations in Christine’s memory may be made to the Inn of the Good Shepherd or the charity of your choice (cheques only at the funeral home please).
