Miller photo

Miller, Peter Courtland “Pete” – on Sunday, November 16th, 2014, peacefully in his own home surrounded by family. Peter was the eldest son of the late Frederick Courtland Miller and Theda Mott Miller. He was born and raised in Belleville and lived for many years in Toronto and Wytheville, Virginia, where he pursued a career as an insurance adjuster and as a motel owner and entrepreneur. He returned to Canada and resided in Plainfield, on the land where his family roots began in the early days of Thurlow Township. He was the husband of Mary Lou Scott of Virginia, who predeceased him in 1987, brother of Robert (Paula) of Nova Scotia, Patricia (Richard) Bowman, of Kingston and Janet Miller of Kingston. He is predeceased by his brother, John and sister-in-law, Lynn of Belleville. Pete was the proud and caring uncle of many nieces and nephews. Peter is also remembered by his dear friend, Ann Meyers. He was a generous volunteer, a scuba diver, and an avid Bridge player, a pilot who built and flew his own plane, a writer, a project man and a loyal friend. We will miss him.

A celebration of Peter’s life will be held on Friday, November 21st at 1:00 p.m. at the Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, 30 Moira Street West (613-968-2273). Following the service there will be an opportunity to share memories with the family at a reception in the Family Center.
