It is with great sadness that we announce the passing away of Antonio (Tony) Michetti, on Saturday, September 13, 2014, at Bluewater Health in Sarnia, at the age of 89, surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of Concetta(Tina) and devoted, loving father of Silvana (Andrew) and Frank (Laurie). Cherished Nonno to Julian, Nicholas and Emily Michetti-Wilson, and Amanda (Kyle), Ryan (Cassandra) and Michael Michetti. Great Grandchildren are James, Liam and Benjamin Scott, and Landon Michetti, who gave him great joy. Dear brother of Giustino (Francesca), Maria (Nicola), Anna (Antonio) and Rita (Emilio). He is predeceased by his parents Giuseppe and Clarice, and brother Alberto (Elena). He is also missed by many nieces and nephews. Tony came to Canada from Chieti, Italy in 1952. He enjoyed 60 years of marriage to the love of his life Tina. He worked as a road construction foreman for most of his life in Sarnia, respected for his integrity and hard work. He was proudly devoted to his faith and a supportive member of the former St. Peter’s Catholic Church for many years. Tony enjoyed many visits with family in Italy, and also, for the past 20 years, the sunshine of the Arizona winters. Tony got involved in many activities at Bluewater Country, especially relaxing in the pool and playing bocce. He established the first co-operative garden site, inspiring many other residents to continue gardening. He loved being outdoors, working in his garden, making wine and most of all, being surrounded by his family. We will greatly miss his generosity of spirit and his gentle smile.Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Friday, September 19, 2014 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday morning, September 20, 2014 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. A memorial service will be celebrated on Saturday, September 20, 2014, at Smith Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment is planned for a later date.
