G Meyrink obit1934-2014
(Retired Chief Civil Engineer at Bermingham Construction, Hamilton, ON)
Our father left this earth on Saturday, December 6th, 2014 at 7:05 p.m. He passed away peacefully in his 80th year with his family by his side. With no regrets, George had a life filled with love, family, farm life, music and challenges. He was born May 30th, 1934 in Velp, Holland. He married his island sweetheart Margaret Eleanor (nee Thomson) on December 12, 1959. They enjoyed each other’s company for 55 years and then retired, joining the snowbirds in Florida, then making a home in Dundas, ON. Much loved father to Anita, Bridget and Sheila, his three blue-eyed daughters. Never having sons, he had the next best thing and is fondly remembered by his sons-in-law Frank and Andy. Loved and cherished Opa to Garrett, Stephanie, Kerstin, and Erin. George loved life but loved his family more. He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his younger brother Willem and his wife Milagros, nieces Karla, Michelle, nephew Ken, and many friends. Sweetheart, Husband, Dad, Mr. Meyrink, Opa — you will be missed but not forgotten. Thank you to the staff at Wentworth Lodge, Dundas, ON for taking the time to get to know our Dad and treating him with respect and love. Friends are invited to visit with the family to celebrate George’s life at KITCHING, STEEPE & LUDWIG FUNERAL HOME, 146 Mill St.N., Waterdown on Saturday, December 13, 2014 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. A private family Memorial Service will be held a later date, with interment in Strabane Cemetery. If so desired, donations to The Parkinson Society would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Please sign the Tribute Wall at www.kitchingsteepeandludwig.com
