Metler, Kathleen “Kay” Marie of St. Thomas, passed away peacefully, on Monday, August 20th, 2012, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, in her 89th year. Predeceased by her husband William D. Metler and loved mother of Marilyn (Gary) Watts, Greg (Ann) Metler, Doug (Denise) Metler, Kathy Sinclair and the late Darlene Bourdon. Predeceased by a sister Louise Smyth. Much loved grandmother of Odeine (Murray), Lee (Emily), Suzanne (Jim), Ryan (Victoria), Rhys (Viri), Aaron (Paulina), Danielle, Melissa, Samantha and Jonathon and loved great grandmother of Amanda, Alyssa, Ethan, Romeo and Olivia. Dear aunt of Sheena and Robert Smyth. Kay was born in St. Thomas on August 29th, 1923, the daughter of the late Gordon and Ellora (Jennings) Beattie. She worked a number of years for the Elgin County Library. She was a member of the River Road Institute and was an avid Bridge player.

Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas where funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Union Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of choice.
