Joan Helen (Lazenby) passed away peacefully on April 4, 2013, at Beattie Haven Retirement Community, with her family by her side. She was born on December 18, 1930, in Walkerville, Ontario. Loving wife of Bill for 62 years. Loving sister of Ruth Lazenby. Predeceased by her parents, John and Ida (Arthurs) Lazenby, and an infant brother, John Arthur. Beloved mother of John and his wife Brenda, Carolyn and her husband Glenn, Bob and his wife Beth, James, and David. Grandmother of Tracey, Kerri (Steve), Katrina (Russell), Jason (Leesa), and Ashley; Daniel and Alan (Michelle); April (Brian), Ryan (Luke), and Wesley (Bethany); Megan (Devin), Amy, and Matthew. Great Grandmother of Ben, Landon, and Emelia, Carson and Briar, Jonathan, Tamara and Tyler, Emillie, Olivia and Ayden. Sister-in-law of Marilyn and Clifford Inch (deceased), Mary-Jane and Bill (deceased) Clifford, and Isabel and Les (deceased) MacFarlane. Survived by many dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 7, 2013, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Arn Funeral Home, 193 Shackleton Street, Dutton 519-762-2416 Memorial service will be held on Monday, April 8, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Knox Presbyterian Church in Fingal. Everyone is invited to join the family for lunch at the church following the Memorial service. Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer or Heart and Stroke foundations, or a charity of your choice.
Joan taught school for a number of years. She was a member of Knox Prestbyterian Church in Fingal, and the Wallacetown Women’s Institute.
The family wishes to thank all of Joan and Bill’s friends, and the staff at Beattie Haven Retirement Community, for the tremendous support they gave to Joan throughout her illness.
