Robert George  “Bob” McGrady Sr. –  November 17, 1946, ~ February 2019,  (Age 72)
It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Bob McGrady, 72, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born in Sydney November 17, 1946, to James and Christina McGrady. Bob had spent his early years in the military, then driving for MacDougall’s Transfer, and Stream in Glace Bay. Bob was a member of St Theresa’s Church and the KOC, He spent 20 years in the Scouts Canada where he received his Gillwellian. Bob was an avid Bingo player and Fishermen and if he was not doing those could be found bending the ear of anyone who would listen about driving truck or the history, mystery and ghost of Cape Breton and Nova Scotia. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Helen (nee Marshal); Daughter, Kimberley (Bernie) Saunders and their son Tristan of Alberta, Robert (Tanya) McGrady of Glace Bay and their children Sarah, Emma, Kayla and Becca and their grandchildren, Miah, Ivan, Adalyn and Josie Lee. Daughter, Colleen (Randy) MacFarlane of Ontario and their children Tia, Dan and Bishop. Plus, numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sisters, Theresa Blanchard, Jackie (Ed Peddle) Macpherson, Loie McMullin and brother, Donnie (Pam) McGrady. Besides his parents, Bob was predeceased by his brother, James (Buddy) McGrady. We, the family, would like to thank Dr Buhariwalla and Dr Khodadad for the exceptional care he received over the years. Also, to the multiple Doctors and nurses from Palliative Care and Cancer Clinic, and all those from VON and Home Care. As per Bob’s wishes, his remains have been donated to Dalhousie University. There will be a Celebration of Life held on March 3, 2019, at St. Theresa’s Parish Hall from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Prayer by Father Lamey.
