Peacefully on Friday, June 29, 2012 at Middlesex Terrace Nursing Home in Delaware, Ontario in her 94th year, Catherine McGinty passed away. Catherine was the last remaining sibling in a family of 7. Predeceased by 4 sisters and 2 brothers. Catherine immigrated from Scotland in 1951 settling in Rothesay, New Brunswick, where she was a domestic caregiver. She moved to Sarnia, Ontario in 1962, where she was a dedicated employee of Trillium Villa Nursing home as a breakfast cook for 15 years. Catherine was an avid bowler, belonging to several 5 pin and 10 pin leagues. She loved to cycle and walk. Catherine was a member of the Sarnia St. Andrews Senior Group. She will be sadly missed by her adopted family of Mike and Sheila McAvity of Komoka. She was an extra special nana to Joseph McAvity of Toronto and Laurie and Roma DuChateau (McAvity) of California. She is survived by 1 niece in Scotland, Sadie Mair. Cremation has taken place, with burial to follow at a later date.
